Deano’s Hickory Pit

This is your typical hole in the wall bbq place with amazing food! My hamburger steak was cooked perfectly and the gravy had alot of flavor! My husbands catfish was crispy and seasoned great! The fries needed a little seasoning in my opinion. The place was clean, not too crowded, the waitstaff was nice, and the food was above average. Would definitely visit again!!!

Great Southern BBQ Joint. Easy parking. Found it in Aug. 2021 on my phone while driving back to Cali from ATL. The whole restaurant looked up at me when I walked in after ordering at the window. No masks in sight (Alabama) and Delta was peaking so I sat outside at one of the picnic tables. But the ladies in the kitchen were a hoot and were super friendly. Unfortunately the birthday card I sent my niece from the Jasper Post Office never made it...

We eat there tonight for a scholarship awards dinner. Appearance is typical southern bbq joint with block building and was homey and comfortable. Everyone who worked there, I think all family, were all very nice, on top of the drinks, appetizers, and our dinners. My son and I had shrimp and husband had catfish. It was all so great! So great I forgot to take a pic of it. The portion sizes were good, food was fresh and hot. Another mom there told us to come back for lunch, that the burgers were also great and for breakfast they did homemade cathead biscuits! So guess another trip will be in our future!! Mmm breakfast. Perfect little local diner. I would eat here again. There was room for the rig. Can pull in and exit out the back if its not too crowded.

Oh my gosh a total hidden gym!! Found it on the way to Memphis. Loved it!! Great bbq and burgers!! Pancakes as well!! Mrs. DEANO was a hoot!! The kids loved her and her staff!!

Great breakfast, awesome burgers prices are reasonable. If you like greasy spoon restaurants this is the place for you . I eat here 2-3 times a week and always leave satisfied.

Tried numerous times to call in pickup with no answer Need to post operating days & hours

We had the pleasure of dining there recently and were very pleased. The place is old and dated but clean. My friend and I both had their steak. Both our steaks was very good. They started with a good cut of meat. The meat was cut thick enough that the cook was able to prepare it just the way I like it medium rare or maybe I should say rare medium (seared on the outside and warm on the inside). My friend prefers not to see the color red in her meat.Most places try to cover the plate with a thin piece of meat that can only be cooked well done. I prefer more altitude on mine with a smaller foot print. When we finished there was only a small piece of fat left on each plate and no grizzle. The taste was excellent without trying to hide it in the "special salt sauce" that a lot of places use to cover the taste.The service was excellent. The Cook even came out to make sure our steaks were done to our satisfaction. Both steaks were cooked just like we ordered them.The salad bar was small but still a good fresh selection. The baked potato was a little overcooked.I observed another customer eating a good looking cheese burger and that will be for my next trip. It will be a hard choice but I guess you shouldn't eat steak every time but then again "Why not?"
