The food at Catfish Cabin was underwhelming--bland and nothing to rave about. Everything fried seemed to taste the same, with little variation in flavor. It feels like the popularity of this place might come more from the lack of other catfish-focused options in the area than from the quality of the food. The interior is true to its name--it's an older space with a rustic, cabin-like feel, but it could use some updating. The service was fine--nothing particularly memorable, but the staff was polite. On the bright side, the place seemed clean, which is always a plus. Overall, it's okay if you're in the mood for catfish and don't have other options, but don't expect anything amazing.

Had the utmost unprofessional experience in all my years in the food industry. Upon entering the large and empty restaurant I asked for table for four and was aware of their "waiting to seat an entire party at once" preference, but asked if they would kindly seat my 95 year old grandmother and I while I ordered appetizers as my parents were a few minutes behind. We were then met with a young lady who said, "we prefer not". I guess southern hospitality is dead and non existent. As they do not have any two tops I said, "please go ahead and seat us".I ordered an appetizer and asked for HOT peel and eat shrimp,She dropped them on the table before I could ask for lemon and hot sauce only to disappear, never to return. My parents arrived and joined us at the four top and we were ignored for the next 20 min (punishment for not obeying the teenage hostess who preferred we not sit). Once we were able to get the attention of another server to ask for our server, again rebuffed and ignored. Let me also share the restaurant was empty.Long gone are days of properly trained staff that understand what the hospitality business is about . . . "Service"! She was rude, inept and never filled a glass removed a dirty dish when asked and had an all around bad attitude. I now understand all the one star reviews. I asked twice for her to remove the pile of dirty dishes as she slumped off with empty hands. The third time when I asked she said "we clean em when y'all leave".It would be one thing to overlook the sophomoric behavior of the petulant waitress if the food was good or even decent. The shrimp were cold after requesting them hot, the catfish was so overly seasoned and salty, I found it inedible. I will say they have a decent hushpuppie. They should rethink the name and call it, "Decent Hushpuppie Cabin".

Catfish Cabin in Jackson, TN delivers a hearty dose of Southern hospitality alongside its delectable fare. Stepping into its cabin-esque ambiance, we were greeted by warm smiles and rustic charm. Our waiter ensured everyone's thirst was quenched with sweet tea and lemonade, setting the stage for a satisfying meal. The hush puppies, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, were a delightful start, while the fried green tomatoes added a zesty kick to the experience. Though the fish portions leaned towards the modest side, they packed a flavorful punch, perfectly seasoned to tantalize the taste buds. Overall, Catfish Cabin provided a memorable dining experience, balancing cozy vibes with impeccable service and scrumptious dishes.

Ordered fried oysters and fries. My wife ordered catfish fillets. We both got seafood gumbo. The oysters were like rubber. The fries were cold. My wife's fillets were about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. The gumbo had no flavor and looked like it had chicken in it. I never leave any fried oysters but I couldn't chew these. The waitress was nice.

Me and my family came one night here lately me and my husband got catfish and the other family member got a hamburger steak. Our food was lukewarm and the catfish tasted a little muddy and they are smaller than most places. The hushpuppies they bring for an appetizer are pretty good and the cups they bring your drink out in is a pretty good size. Service was okay! The restaurant is really pretty on the inside as well. Sorry I didn't take any pictures

Yesterday (August 5, 2024) my dad and I went here for dinner. We got there a little after 4:00 pm, and were seated quickly. We both ordered sweet tea, and we got the mayonnaise slaw and a basket of hush puppies. I ordered my usual blackened catfish fillets and dad ordered the regular catfish fillets. I stuffed myself with hush puppies, and Dad told my e not to overdo it, or I wouldn't be able to eat my fish later. It didn't matter, though, because I ate all of it. Everything was delicious, as usual, and then we got the bill. It was over $40! We were both shocked. The price was outrageous for just 2 people. I know I always say we won't be going back, but I think that Hagy's Catfish Hotel has better food, and the cost was just a few dollars more. FYI, the blackened catfish now costs $16.99, and they're putting one less piece of catfish on it.

Ordered the combination plate, 2 catfish fillets. Really, more like catfish sticks. They were 4" long, 3/4" wide and 1/2" thick, but there's was 2 of them. The 4 boiled shrimp, fair, 4 fried shrimp, fair, stuffed crab ok.Service was mediocre, hate to see plates scrapped into a tub in the dining room. Sweeping the hardwood while folks are eating, GROSS.Food was fair, service, fair to gross. Il definitely drive on by next time.

I wasn't impressed by the food here at all! I ordered the combination plate with catfish, fried shrimp and boiled shrimp. The literally gave me 2 tiny filet pieces! The shrimp were small as well! Definitely not worth the price. The hush puppies were good. This place is a no for me..

This would be a zero if it was possible. My son wanted to eat here for months! We were driving from northern IL (10 hrs) and agreed to meet him here. He arrived 10 mins before us and they refused to seat him until we arrived. When we arrived they put us on a list and made us wait 10 additional mins (place was 50% empty). We were seated and waited 15 mins for a waitress. We watched other patrons be seated, receive drinks and place food orders before we even saw a waitress. We ordered and waited another 15 mins for our drinks. The waitress said she had to brew the tea herself. My mom ordered the fried shrimp on the senior menu. She received THREE tiny shrimp, a baked potato and the usual cole slaw. For $13! My son and I ordered the boiled shrimp for $16 each. My fries were stone cold. The shrimp consisted of about 12 shrimp but not all whole. Many were just heads or tails. They were mushy and old. I ate probably 4. The service was non existent. It is an hour drive home. After 25 minutes my stomach was cramping so bad that I felt I would not make it. I spent 2 hours at home in the bathroom being sick. I have not had food poisoning this bad in years. My son suffered the same. We will never waste almost $80 at this place again! Do not just pass this place with a curious glance- RUN. It is positively horrid. What an insult-we paid people $80 to make us violently ill. Never again.

I cant express what a completely awful meal we just had. Paid $50 for 2 meals and got a fast food quality hot mess. The hush puppies were way overcooked, tasteless and gooshed grease. The coleslaw had pickle relish in it and was inedible. We both ordered the Catfish Filet platter, 1 with fries and 1 with a baked potato. The baked potato had a black burnt skin and was served with margarine. I was horrified that they didnt even have real butter. The sour cream was in a plastic packed like a fast food ketchup packet tossed on the plate. HARD pass on margarine! The fish had a strong fishy odor with a very fishy oily old fish thing going on and left a nasty film in my mouth. At that point I was done. My husband muscled through 2 pieces. The coating had no flavor and had the consistency of sand. Frankly, this was an anniversary meal and we would have had a better meal from fast food. Ty for ruining our anniversary meal!
