Cals Country Chicken was once a staple in Madison, I am so glad it's back. Located on Dickerson RD in the former Coneheads location. I ordered Chicken and Gravy, Collard Greens and Macaroni and Cheese. It was very tasty, the gravy is very delicious so was the entire meal. I went around 2 PM so there were only 2 people dining at the time. I was waited on as soon as I entered and was out within 5 minutes. You cannot see all of the food from the steam table, as only a few items are there. Please don't think that they don't have what you want because it's not on the steam table. Their menu is written on paper on the left wall.

Great food and some of the best chicken and dressing in Nashville. The service is always spot on.

Tried it for the first time yesterday after work & it was really good. I got the chicken & dressing, mac & cheese, collard greens & cornbread. I'm bit of a food snob & usually places people hype up i end up not liking, but this food was as good as if i cooked it myself. I plan on going back tomorrow to try some other menu items. I'm glad i finally found some good soul food on this side of town. Also the staff was really nice & helpful. 10 out of 10

We stopped in Nashville to dine enroute home to Atlanta, and came across Cals Country Chicken. This is a relatively new establishment, serving southern chicken. There is indoor and outdoor covered parking. It's cafeteria-style dining. Grab a plastic tray, and pick your Meat + 2 ($15) or 3 ($18) sides. The music was rather loud, playing a clubby type of vibe. Nicole and the little one had a +3 of baked lemon pepper chicken with mashed potatoes, Mac & Cheese, and broccoli and cheese, and I had the +2 choosing the dark fried chicken, with Mac & cheese and collard greens. We were also provided a choice of corn bread or roll. The corn bread was dry and not sweet. The chicken was moist. The sides a tad salty. Everything satisfied our hunger pangs. A lot of local folks were standing in line for this food, which seemed to be quite popular.

This was my first time in a while it was still delicious will be going more often the vegetables are awesome I'm not a meat person but if I was the chicken it looks so inviting.

Cal's is a great meat and 2 restaurant. I've eaten there several times. Excellent country food, fried chicken, pork chops, Mac and cheese and even deviled eggs. The desserts are good too!!
