Cakes by Mom and Me

I placed an order for a cake, sent a check with the expectation that it would be ready, and on the day that I called to pick it up, they said they did not even know who I was. The cakes are really good but they are losing so much money on poor service. They say that they cannot take an order over the phone, yet when I called, the person answering the phone took my order over the phone. At this point it's almost like it's a joke. Why do you allow people to take orders over the phone if you are not going to honor what you say? There are so many other great bakeries in Memphis and North Mississippi, this place isn't even worth the hassle.

I've had many cakes from them so they know how to do there job, They have great prices, but the customer service is very poor. I scheduled my appointment with them months in advance, the lady yelled at me over the phone because I didn't want to tell her what venue I was having my wedding at. YELLED. I was in such disbelief, I guess she thought she was the only person i knew who made wedding cakes. If customer service means nothing to you then go for it, they suck and I will no longer be using or buying anything from the old ladies.

Would like the option of no stars or even minus 10 stars cause of how horrible the owner was to a person that parked in her spot when there was 6 available during the funeral services of the towns loved man, cussed her out with witness and left a note about personal use of the spot. Clearly she had no sign out about customer parking only. Not just her but left other notes on few other cars as well. Is this the proper way of treating a person grieving? Over a spot? At least send a box of cupcakes to offer condolences but a nasty note she thought was best to do. This is a small town. Everyone knows everyone and never had any problems like this from a good company which isn't anymore. Please don't buy anything from this place!! The owner is ver rude. She cusses out a person for parking in her empty parking lot because the funeral home parking was full, and then rants like a child on Facebook about it. This business is very unprofessional and there are many other wonderful places in town where you can get bakery items without being verbally assaulted.

Absolutely loved my wedding cake. I wanted something simple and elegant and they nailed it!! Not to mention it was the best tasting wedding cake!! I will absolutely order from them again

Thanks Mrs. Pam and Lori for creating a masterpiece from the picture I sent. This beautiful cake was the talk of the after party. Not only was it gorgeous but it was by far the best tasting cake I have ever had. It was a perfect representation of my music man and my love of art!

This is the best custom couture cake design shop! I highly recommend them! Their cakes are stunning and taste just as stunning as they look! Lori and Pam are so accommodating and kind to their clientele! They are definitely an asset to our community!

This is one bakery where your wedding cake will taste just as great as it looks! No dry, stale cake from here. I contracted with Cakes by Mom and Me for my wedding cake and will absolutely use them again for future birthdays, anniversaries, cupcakes....At the consultation, Lori was great at picking out similar design themes in my "inspiration photos" and helping to focus my vision. While, the design didn't come out exactly as I had imagined, I looked back at the contract and saw that it was my fault because I didn't notice one element wasn't included before approving and returning the contract with my deposit. I received many compliments from guests because it was still a beautiful cake (the bride would obviously be the only person to pick out that something was different from what was expected) and the taste was amazing. We ate every bit that we had left after the wedding and I hope that our frozen top tier will also taste alright next year since I followed their storage and freezing advice. But maybe I should order a replica tier just in case :) They also made the groom's cake, a rugby ball on dirt/mud and it was perfect.The only reason they didn't get five stars was because "Mom" always seemed a bit "short" in replies by email or phone. It's probably just a personality/communication difference, but it made me feel like I was a burden when I only wanted to make sure my wedding day was going to be as flawless as possible.

I attempted to order a cake from this bakery and the customer service was absolutely horrible and the person Lori unprofessional! I called this bakery and she answered the phone Cakes by Mom and Me; I asked her who was I speaking to because I like to introduce myself and know who I am speaking with. She got offended and kept answering Cakes by Mom and Me and refused to give me her name. First bad move. Once we started talking and we got into details, I asked for her for her name again because I needed to call her back with information and she gave it to me. I explained to her that I had a cake topper that was a particular size and I wanted to make sure the size of the bottom layer would compliment the first tier. Because of my knowledge of tiers, I asked several questions and she became agitated and stated that she didn't have time to stay on the phone while I made the decision to make up my mind because she needed to return calls and she had a lot of things she had to do. She said it sounded like I knew a lot about tiers and she needed a picture. It appeared she doesn't have the knowledge to answer the questions and she became tense. This is not the first time that I have called and received abruptness and rudeness from a person at this company. It is obvious that they need customer service training or someone to answer their calls and answer customer inquiries. It is recommended that the Better Business Bureau be consulted before hiring Cakes by Mom and Me. I recently filed a formal complaint about Cakes by Mom and Me with the Better Business Bureau following a negative experience in which they backed out on my order for my son's 1st birthday cakes.
