So I saw bbq and was hoping for some out of this word bbq and well it was crock pot bbq but it was really tender and tasty. A little let down but what really made the 4th star stay was the fried bread. Holy cow, someone bring the honey out it was great! And the fried pickles were darn good to snack on. Service was great and never had to ask for a refill. Worth a stop to say you tried it but I might have to share some of my bbq tips....

Ordered hamburger steak fries and okra. Asked for hamburger steak to be well cooked came back raw and salty as hell Bland fried okra. Other than that customer service was good.

I'm visiting Mom, and she's always on the hunt for great catfish. The small fried catfish plate had three generous filets and two sides. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the ranch dressing on my salad was perfect. More than the great food, though, was Miranda. She showed my mom such kindness, empathy, and generosity I almost cried. Give this small business your business. They're good people making good food.

We came in right at their lunchtime closing and we were just going to let them close and go elsewhere. The owner insisted we stay and told us they had gumbo, BBQ, and plate lunches. She explained that they were out of a few things but listed what they had. I got a pulled pork plate with coleslaw and baked beans. My husband got the grilled pork chop lunch plate. I asked for a cup of gumbo, just because it sounded good. When the plates came out they were FILLED and oh so tasty. Best coleslaw I've ever had and the pulled pork was tender and so tasty. They wanted to only charge my husband for the veggies, as they said the pork chop was small (and it was the size of both your hands!) but we insisted on paying. Then let me tell you about the gumbo! It was chock full of shrimp and sausage and so tasty. It wasn't peppery like some people think "Cajun" is, just a REALLY flavorful and generous portion! We had a wonderful meal and visited with the super nice owner and family and it was an all around excellent time. Would definitely go back!

The hotel (the new Tru Hilton) we stayed at had some suggested eating places, but this one was not one of them. This spot was found through Yelp, so thank you. In a strip mall and pretty low key. Mardi Gras decor and some menu items. Barbecue was another main staple of the menu as well as a little soul food (emphasis on little). I ordered Rib tips w/onion rings and baked beans as my sides. I received a Large portion and because my rib tips looked too dry (my wonderfully attentive servers words), she had already ordered me another order. Ribs tips were good, but not smoke seasoned so no smoke flavor. The beans and onion rings were delicious The roll that accompanied the meal was served cold and overly browned. Hubby ordered Hamburger steak/gravy w/rice and a salad. It was cooked to order, tender and well seasoned. He thoroughly enjoyed it. We got there about 5:00pm, shorty thereafter between 5:30 and 6, they had a large influx of regulars. This was known because the owner cane out to say hello and catch up. The meal was very affordable and I left a big tip because our server was displayed great southern hospitality.

I placed a pickup order for the Combination Plate, which came with chicken, sausage, ribs, pulled pork and two sides (baked beans and potato salad). The potato salad was really good and beans okay (would definitely eat them both again). However, they were a bit stingy with the baked beans. I had about 4 tablespoons of it lol. The sausage was good and plentiful and the chicken was well-cooked with decent flavor. The ribs were ehhhh, I'm thinking they were cooked the previous day and reheated. If they were fresh, they probably would have been great. The biggest letdown of the meal was the pulled pork. It looked like someone had chewed the pork and spit it on the plate. It didn't taste like it was done in-house, but instead like a purchased, frozen pulled pork product that was heated and then reheated several times...the worst ever! This is definitely not the place for ribs or pulled pork.
