I get my haircut at the barbershop out front of this place and passed it a thousand times and finally stopped in after a haircut. As soon as I descended the stairs and walked in there was a table with 3 older white gents, one had a black eye. It's pretty divey. I'm a brown guy and was the only brown person in the joint. Everyone was friendly. Had a good time. They advertise beer only and limited food (pizza, corn dogs, wings, chicken strips, burgers, pizza rolls). There's one cork dart board, one pool table, 4 tvs, and a bowling/golf machine, and a juke box. They sell scratch off lottery tickets behind the bar Feels like I hopped in a Time Machine to the early 90's. This place says it was established in 1978 and they haven't changed too much since. 8.5-9/10. *Be advised*This is a cash only establishment but there is an ATM on the premises with a $3 fee. It's worth it because the beer is cheap.

This is the worst place in the world!!! Do not EVER go here.The staff is rude and doesn't care about anyone.I didn't know it was beer or and was trying to decide and the woman was rude and said are you gonna order or not just get out.That was unbelievable. I had traveled all the way from murfreesboro just to come there,spent thirty dollars for her to treat me like that.DO NOT GO HERE.

The best place you can go to if you're a laid back person and want to have a chill bar experience. The beer is cheap and the service is outstanding. They'll know if you aren't a regular but make you feel like you're one anyway 100000/10.

First off, the bar is not out back of the grocery store. It's on the south side literally underneath the grocery store. If you were standing on Nolensville Pike looking at the barbershops in front of the thing, if you went in the parking lot between them and Crescent Carpets you would notice stairs leading down. Well, let me say you *might* notice.Some things - this is a non-ADA compliant bar, filled with smoke, no ability to take visa, mastercard, amex, or anything but cash. There's an ATM in the Bi-Rite upstairs, however they close fairly early so you'll need to have cash going in. Basically plan for The wife and I dropped in on our seventh anniversary. I'd previously been to this place in I believe 2000, forgot it existed for 8 years, was back again, forgot it existed for 8 more years, but yup, there it is.We got in slightly after closing time but the guys there bought us a beer for our anniversary, probably thinking that any couple that wanted to spend it there were a bit off and should best be placated by beer.I'm told Bret's Basement Lounge has been many basement lounges before it. I seem to recall it being called Ground Zero at some point although nobody but me seems to remember this. It's the kind of place you either want to stay in or you don't.It's also the kind of place if you like it you fear letting people know where it is for fear of pointing the trendsters at it.

Staff and regulars Always make you feel welcome. It's safe and friendly, you won't be a stranger here. (at least not for long) This is an ol school smokey beer bar. Surprisingly good live entertainment on certain Friday nights... if I do say so myself.

Owner and staff were very friendly. Low key joint that has a decent pool table and cheap beer.

What a blast. First time here. Great people and fun times. (Beers cheap too) will be coming back but with my pool stick!
