A Wonderful Night (knowing the negatives before Check-in). Looking for a nice place to have a private staycation with my sweetie (close to our home in Memphis). I've had people personally recommend this inn to me, so I've wanted to stay here for a long time. But true to some reviews, I had a hard time simply making a reservation! No answer & no return calls. I even drove down here one day. The owners were out "running an errand!" I did speak to some vacationing there. Really! Finally, after a long time, I made a reservation just after Xmas (their slow season). The owner was very specific with details over the phone, because NO ONE WOULD BE THERE (eg which room would be ours, rules, etc.)We arrived (as did one other couple later) but NO WORKERS on site. Kind of creepy. This B&B has the feel of an old plantation. It feels like I'm far out in the county, although it's just minutes from the malls in Southaven, MS. The first employee we saw was the following morning-a very nice lady in the kitchen (separate building) that was preparing breakfast for us. Pros:+ Our "Roane Room" was really nice!+ Huge Comfy Bed & Big Ottoman+ Cozy Fireplace (Gas)+ Big AirTub + Huge Country Breakfast made fresh for us+ Beautiful old home, lake, etc. + Off-Season price was A GREAT DEAL (w Breakfast!)Cons:- No one there on off-season (literally)- No alcohol allowed (they said you have to buy from them, but no one there!)- No restaurant, snacks, drinks, etc (Bring everything you might need. Eat before you come.)- Bathroom was nice, but TOILET was in the TINIEST ROOM EVER! Just more room than the toilet itself! MY knees touched the door!!!- We could hear the other couple across the home (he serenaded his lady to country ballets). Actually, that was quite funny! The pictures on the website are accurate. I was prepared & brought everything needed. We would come back & recommend.

Stayed a night at the Bonne Terre Inn on Monday with my dad. We were looking for a quaint place to sleep at while road tripping across the country but ended up being cat fished by this establishment. The photos online are beautiful but in person this place is horrific. We stayed in the Azalea and Wisteria rooms. When I first walked into the Azalea room i was met with a roach on the curtain, stains on the walls, another bug on the headboard, a decorative pillow that had half of it stained with red wine, and un-wiped tables/counter tops. We left for dinner and came back to find another huge roach in the corner of my dads room. I ended up peeling back all the beds sheets after having a hunch that the walls and carpet will probably reflect the state of the bed and oh boy was I right. My bed only had piss stains and a few hairs on the sheets. On the other hand my dads bed was piss covered. Multiple huge piss stains. We also saw a few blood stains, hairs from dark places, and wine stains. My dad called the receptionist and it went to voice mail. She then called back and we told her about the sheets and she replied, "Are you sure? those are new sheets." Its borderline belittling to be looking at heavily used sheets and have a woman who's not even in the room with you suggest that you're lying or blind. She then asked if we could check the other unlocked rooms. We only check one other room which was the Rowe room. This room was worse than both mine and my dads room combined. Yes there were lots of piss stains on the bed but I noticed a new substance I had not yet seen in the rooms we had. There was ejaculate everywhere. The bed, the chair in front of the bed, even parts of the god damn wall. The woman texted my dad apologizing and referred him to a hotel close by. He paid $260 for two FILTHY rooms. Luckily we brought our own sheets because we are taking extra precautions during this pandemic but if we didn't have them we would have definitely stayed at a different hotel. Dont stay here unless you don't mind snoozing on a urine soaked bed, having some insects as room mates, and sticky walls. The only positive thing about this place is the gray cat that followed me around while i packed my bags into the truck.I added all the photos where you could see the filth. Most of the photos/videos we took aren't the best quality because we have iphone 5's.PSI've come to the conclusion that everyone who has slept in this Inn had to have been plastered. I read a lot of reviews and none ever mentioned the hygienic state of this place. I would have to be wasted to not notice all of the grime in those rooms. Apparently a lot of people have weddings here? Could. not. be. me.

I got engaged at Bonne Terre in 2007, and when they closed, my husband and I were so sad because we weren't able to go back on our anniversary to celebrate! But now they're back open under new owners, so we are happy to be able to go back to the Chestnut room every April now.It is such a beautiful property, and I think most of the rooms have private balconies--at least ours did. The food is amazing and has a really nice presentation (I've been back for dinner since the new owners took over) and the whole place is just tranquil and peaceful. They do dinner Wednesday through Saturday, plus have the inn where guests can stay of course, and also have a really cute, quaint wedding chapel and reception hall.

My wife and I stayed here for our ten year anniversary. I made reservations about 5 weeks previous. That was easy enough. I was a bit disappointed when they said we could not do dinner because it's wedding season and they're too busy. I did ask to have chocolate covered strawberries in the room. I had seen that they offered it on their website. They called me the day of to inquire about our ETA and gave us instructions for check in. So far so good. We arrived and checked in. The registration office was a mess, they apologized for the mess and said they were doing fall cleaning. The room looked nice but I noticed the light over the toilet was burnt out, we were thirsty and went back to the registration office to find were we could get water. The gentleman in the office went to a building across the road and pulled out four bottled waters for us and he said the maintenance guy was not working to fix the light. I said "no big deal". We took an Uber to downtown Memphis for dinner. Once we arrived back we had a quiet evening and slept well. The next morning we walked over to the garden room cafe and we really enjoyed the breakfast with a nice view. Overall we had a nice time there but nothing fantastic to really comment about.

My BF and I stayed at Bonne Terre for the 4th of July weekend. Emily was so accommodating and welcoming. Even though she had given her staff the holiday off, she was constantly there for us. She made breakfast for us every morning and made sure we were comfortable in our beautiful room. When our thermostat in our room wasn't working well, she had it replaced while we were out on the town! Now, that's service! Breakfast every morning was very filling and tasty and the dinner at the cafe on our last night there was outstanding. We had such a wonderful stay at Bonne Terre. We would definitely recommend to our friends and we would love to go back if we have the opportunity to be in that area again. Thank you, Emily, for such a great stay!

At a recent wedding located here, the manager changed many significant details of the couples' big day, after receiving payment. The manager wore casual clothes at the ceremony and spoke very condescendingly to the family of both the bride and groom. Down Arrow.

I would not recommend planning any special occasion here. I planned a surprise getaway for my husband's 60th birthday. I made dinner reservations and booked a room two months in advance. I surprised my husband the night before his birthday with this gift, and we were both excited about the following day. At 11:00 the next morning as we were heading out the door to drive to the inn, BonneTerre called to tell me that they were closing the restaurant that night because the chef had a prior engagement. I was crushed that the romantic evening I'd planned was ruined. Needless to say I canceled the room reservation. I asked for some kind of concession such as a comped future dinner and was told they could only offer 20% off of a room. I asked for the manager's name and email address and was told the manager was Bob Rygg. I emailed him at the address given and never received a response. I then called and left a message for him to call me. He did call and leave another email address for me to use which was a gmail account. I thought that seemed odd - it seemed like a personal account, not a business account. Of course I never received a reply to the email I sent to that address either. This is a poorly run place. Search the internet and you will find other terrible reviews. I wish I'd seen them before they ruined my husband's 60th birthday.

I have never been treated so poorly for the amount they charge for a room. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding there. When we checked in the woman charged the credit card and sent us on our way... wait, no key. No big deal, right? Well, we got settled and wanted to send the bride a bottle of wine, called the front desk... no answer. Not out of the ordinary seeing the property is small and they were probably just checking in another guest. Nope. I called the front desk probably 10 times in the 2 days we were there to ask questions like "what time is breakfast?" (a detail we were not made aware of upon check in) and never did anyone answer. Oh, just so you know it is only from 8-9:30 with no exceptions. I finally, on the day of the wedding, walked into the office and was treated as an inconvenience and disturbance. I just wanted to pay triple for 2 bottles of wine for the bride and attendants due to the fact that they do not allow adult beverages from outside the establishment. It took her an hour to prepare and deliver those 2 bottles, by the way. The evening of the wedding the staff practically took plates and drinks out of the guests hands with the explanation of "clearing". The rooms were outdated and cheesy. There was no cooperation from the staff except for 2 employees who were helpful like sending some food to go for some of the wedding party who were too busy chatting to eat, and if you've been in a wedding this happens very easily. Long story, I know, but if you'd like to be married here, think twice. Overpriced with poor customer service...there are other places, I'm sure.

We were married here in 1998 and my parents took all 14/15? Rooms too. It was a BLAST. We swam and fished the day of, had outside bars set up for guests before the wedding started- married in the gazebo and dined and partied in the cafe. We all met for breakfast the next morning in the cafe. We loved having the entire place to ourselves- and enjoying breakfast with our guests the next morning. Bonne Terre is such a special place.

We spent 2 nights here and wish our stay had been longer. Hospitality was gracious, surroundings superb and it was great to have breakfast at a B&B prepared by an obviously talented chef. Only sorry that our schedule did not permit being there to have dinner. All of this is only 30 minutes from downtown Memphis. Having travelled in about 40 countries world wide, this certainly makes our "top ten" list.
