I'd put six stars if I could!! The ambience is very nice, they have an amazing bar featured prominently that is a work of art in my worthless opinion. I also very much liked all the bookshelves with, well, books but also bric-a-brac. We had a reservation for 5pm on a Friday night which we probably didn't need but we weren't sure what to expect. I will tell you this place was fancier than I expected. It wasn't snobby or hoity toity or anything, I was just expecting an Irish pub type place but this more than that. I had salmon with risotto. The salmon was good but the risotto was exceptional!! One companion had the pork porterhouse which was very good and we shared a side dish of the Brussels sprouts which were also very very good!! They came with a yogurt based sauce with thyme and coriander I think and also currants. Really good!! One other young man companion had the cheeseburger and fries. He said they were very good. For dessert we got an Irish crème cheesecake, a Guinness chocolate cake, and a lemon cake. All three were very good. The lemon cake was very light and soft it was almost like a custard.

If you're looking for a taste of Ireland without the airfare, The Bog & Barley delivers an experience so outstanding it'll surpass your expectations in every way. I half expected a fiddler in a newsboy cap to materialize at my table.Let's start with the ambiance: warm, inviting, and the perfect blend of upscale and cozy. The space is surprisingly large, yet it retains the intimate charm of a well-loved Irish pub. And that bar! A true tribute to Ireland's love of fine spirits--massive, beautifully stocked, and gleaming like a pot of gold at the end of a whiskey-soaked rainbow. Now, the food. Mother of divine mercy! It's nothing short of spectacular. I ordered the pork porterhouse, and let me tell you, if St. Patrick had been served this, he might have stayed in Ireland. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and brimming with flavor. As a side, I ventured into the realm of Brussels sprouts, and to my utter delight, they were downright miraculous--crispy, caramelized, and packed with rich, savory goodness. Who knew Brussels sprouts could be this revelatory? To wash it all down, I went with a Harp beer--crisp, clean, and an ideal match for the meal. And then came dessert. I opted for the lemon cake, bright, fresh, and so airy it practically floated off the plate. But then I made a grave miscalculation--my dining companion ordered the Guinness chocolate cake, and after a single stolen bite, I knew I'd chosen poorly. That cake? Pure magic. A true pot of gold. Next time, I won't make the same mistake. The Bog & Barley isn't just a great Irish restaurant--it's an experience. Whether you're there for a pint, a feast, or just to soak in the atmosphere, you'll leave feeling a little luckier than when you arrived. Sláinte!

My wife and I met here relatively recently for a late weekday lunch. Getting in was much easier than weekends; we didn't even need a reservation. It was her first time here. The hostess was helpful, friendly, and gracious; she immediately directed us to a comfy booth. It was good to encounter a manager doing table duty, since our waiter was so clearly inexperienced. It took a bit of time for us to be acknowledged.I was pleased that the bar still carried Guinness 0.0 (in an aluminum can). I ended up quaffing two of them, and would have drunk more, had the waiter been a bit more attentive. My wife had a holiday vodka cocktail called a "white cranberry cosmo", which she quite enjoyed. For appetizers, we noshed on some lamb meatballs (delicious) and deviled eggs (superb). Both were perfect sharing sizes for two people.Per the manager's recommendation, I tried the salmon on top of squash-barley risotto. I think that I liked the idea of the risotto better than the plain flavor. On the other hand, the fish and chips were a real winner with my spouse. For dessert, she opted for the chocolate cake. I felt the strong urge to get in some greens, so I had a delicious wedge salad for my final course. We both really enjoyed the decor and leisurely and relaxing atmosphere during a weekday midafternoon here. Nothing rushed at all (including our neophyte waiter).Four-and-a-half stars, rounded down to four, mainly due to inept service. However, I recommend this restaurant and its atmosphere and food. The menu has many tempting appetizers and entrees. We plan on returning again.

Went for drinks, good and cocktails with friends over the holidays. We had a wonderful time catching up and enjoying adult beverages. It was so great to see friends and family. The restaurant was decorated with Christmas decor. I love the vibe of this place. It is so pretty on the inside with natural wood and lighting. We sat upstairs in a nook which fit our party perfectly. You could see the downstairs and enjoy people watching or sports on the tv near us. Our waiter/server was Caleb I believe. He was so nice and provided excellent service for our large party of 15. I asked for appetizer recommendations and I ordered the asparagus. That dish was simply delicious. It was a bed of asparagus that was buttered. The sauce was made of sour cream and possibly mayonnaise with chives and other great seasonings. It was very very decadent but very good. I really enjoyed it because my plate was a happy and clean. I also ordered the Irish Soda bread that is not on the menu. Always very soft on the inside and crusty on the outside. I can't wait to return to try the Irish Creme Baileys Cheesecake.

You are not prepared for the interior of this restaurant - I read the description online and was skeptical, but it literally feels like you are stepping into a pub in Ireland. I'm so mad that we have lived in Memphis for two years and that we are just now trying Bog & Barley - the decor is insanely well done and the staff was super friendly and attentive. Cocktails were great, I can't wait to come back again!

I came here for brunch, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Reuben and shrimp and grits--both were excellent, 10/10. The service was fast and accommodating, and the vibes were unbelievable. Piano bar over everything! The drinks were also great; I tried The Dominican. While it mentioned strawberries and blueberries, I couldn't see how they were incorporated--perhaps they ran out of garnishes? Regardless, it was still delicious. Highly recommend!

Food-5 starsAmbience- 5 starsService- 3.5 starsMy friends and I had a reservation for 4 for dinner. When we arrived we were sat at a high top round table. This table was almost too small for each of us to have a drink and an entree. Someone ordered a whiskey flight and we had to send the board back to the kitchen because there wasn't enough room on the table for it. I don't think more than 3 people should be sat at the small bar tables. Our meals were delicious and the atmosphere has immaculate vibes. There was live music later in the evening and he played some great songs. Our waiter was extremely impatient with us from the beginning. Rushing us through our drinks, continuously taking things off of the table. When we finished our food, he took the plates away and then after a few minutes took the salt and pepper shakers off of the table. He tried to take my drink twice thinking I was finished with it (it was in a copper cup so he couldn't see through it). We asked for certain things and he would appear with something else instead. We asked for a Moscow mule and he brought a ramekin of buttermilk ranch dressing. He keyed in extra desserts we didn't ask for and we had to have our ticket changed (which isn't a big complaint, mistakes happen). When we tried to go to the restroom our waiter (male) was in the women's restroom cleaning it. Tried to go upstairs and the restroom was locked/out of service. Went back down stairs to the restroom being mopped and cleaned. Went double checked the times for the restaurant and the bar didn't close until 11:30 pm, we left around 10:45. The rushing seemed unnecessary and made us feel like we needed to get up and leave before we were ready.
