These suites are like stepping into a time warp. You can forget you are living in the 21st century for a little while. Just like staying at Grandma's house! We are so glad they accommodated us for a one night stay, as we had tickets at the near-by Minglewood, and could actually walk there. The apartments are fastidiously clean, the shower is hot, the bed is comfortable. Do not expect a cookie cutter hotel suite...this is a step back in time; slow down and enjoy. Off street parking, actual KEYS for your entrance, and for your room. You may have to climb the steep stairs for your second floor room, but that gives you a nice view of the courtyard entrance. There is not a chain restaurant in sight, but if you don't find good food, you aren't looking. Thanks, Barbara and Shirley, for a lovely visit to Memphis.

Multi-story furnished townhomes built in 1922 to accommodate the luxury residential requirements of cotton market robber barons. I never want to stay anywhere else in Memphis. Staying at Belvedere Suites feels like staying in a fastidious rich uncle's house in Midtown.Barbara the caretaker is the cool great-aunt-who lives-in-Midtown that every Memphis expatriate needs. Buy her a gift. Call ahead and tell her what you want to do so she can help you plan accordingly. Great place for a cookout as it's a block from a grocery store and has a yard and gas grills. You can throw parties, cookout, cook all your meals, take the trolley downtown and never rent a car, an almost unfeasable option for the Memphis traveler. Across the street from a coin-op laundry, five-block walk to the trolley to downtown.Note for investors: If the Madison Avenue spur of the trolley expands west to Belvedere Avenue I recommend that you BUY THIS PROPERTY.

Excellent 3 bedroom unit in the historic district just outside of downtown Memphis. Very clean, well equipped and nicely decorated.

Forget staying at some corporate hotel chain or overpriced downtown hotel where you'll pay to park and barely have enough room to unpack. The Belvedere Suites is where you should be staying any time you're in Memphis. This is a wonderfully restored century-old complex with rustic charm. It is located within walking distance of PLENTY of restaurants, grocery, and is located next door to Zinnies (a Memphis Midtown institution). The landscaping is well-kept, the full time tenants are friendly, and the staff goes well above and beyond to make you feel at home. The units are well-maintained and appointed. In the morning with our coffee, or in the evening with a good book, the balcony swing was our favorite spot to relax and unwind after a long day of being "touristy". The bed was comfortable and the neighborhood is very quiet at night. There is no central air, but the window units and the floor unit in the bedroom along with the four ceiling fans kept the apartment comfortably cool. Granted we were there in March, but I can't imagine those units not cutting the heat and humidity of summer. We saved several hundred dollars on breakfast and lunch by shopping at the Kroeger (a 5 minute walk) and cooking at home which made the Belevdere almost pay for itself. The gas stove heats the kitchen up pretty quickly, especially when you use the oven, but there is a door that you can open to let fresh air circulate. They have DirecTV so there is no shortage of things to watch on the television. We were there during the first weekend of March Madness and the only thing that I would have changed is having a HiDef TV, but I'm spoiled. We did take a stroll over to Zinnies to watch some games on their flat screen. Why be cooped up in the apartment all night anyway? Prior to our arrival there was an issue with the original unit Shirley had reserved for us - we had reserved a 1 BR but she had asked if we would consider an efficiency because a guest unexpectedly delayed departure. She was more than gracious in how she handled the situation, and when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to find that she was able to clear a 1 BR unit for us. There were four of us (my wife and two teenage boys) and we never felt cramped - there's plenty of room to stretch out and do your thing. The couch served as a bed for my 14 year old and there was plenty of room for the air mattress for my 19 year old. We'll be back!

The parking lot is too small for this building; we hardly found a spot when we arrived at night so we parked on street next to the crowded bar right in front of the hotel. People smoke in the front yard and there was a very potent cigarettes or marijuana odor in the air when we stepped in the front yard; which gave us an unpleasant impression at first sight. Not to mention that some of the guests coming and going all night or gathering in the back yard very loud. Our room was clean, however the furniture was very old, the AC was running very loud and the shower temperature was hard to adjust. The only thing this place has going for it is its proximity to good restaurants. Overall, not what we expected.

I'm WAAAY overdue to rate this place. I was in Memphis last June ('19) to attend a concert. It took me a minute to locate this place & I was kind of iffy about it from the outside. Wow! I loved it! I will always stay here when I'm in Memphis. The manager was awesome. We had a little electronic key issue & she went way out of her way to resolve this. Great room so nice & cozy that I wanted to live there. I'm dropping the 5th star ONLY because my wife is not able to stay here as it's not handicapped accessible. But when I'm in Memphis on my own, this will be my home. Y'all are going to love it! Centrally located w/restaurants & entertainment very nearby, spotlessly clean, and so comfy.

We've been visiting Memphis for over 8 years and this is our favorite place to stay. Quiet, convenient, charming, homey. Jenny, the on site manager, is friendly and there to help. This is not your modern sleek hotel which is why we love it. Its location in midtown is right around the corner from The BBQ shop, short drive to Rhodes College, downtown, walkable to Overton Park. Don't miss Joe's liquors a block up the street at Poplar Ave. Beer tasting, incredible selection of beers and wine.
