This park is HUGE. It is spread out over 373 acres. You will find this park just outside of downtown. It has tons of parking available is is home to a 1-mile paved loop trail, shelters, lots of green space, and a lake. They also claim that the 18-hole golf course, Memphis Botanic Gardens (separate admission cost), and Leftwich Tennis Center are park of the park as well. Some sections of the park were closed while I was there, but I still got to see a large portion. The lake is decent and has benches and picnic tables along its permitter for visitors to sit. The area is pretty well shaded. I am not sure if it is stocked or not but there were quite a few people fishing there during my visit. I did not see anyone pull anything though. The park is home to some public art sculptures and is part of the national Cancer Survivor Plaza Program. The area I was in had tons of green space. It could be suitable for most field activities including flying a kite, playing football, having a soccer game, or picnic. There was a man using the space as a golf ball driving range while I was there. There are a lot of organized walks hosted at this park. It is a perfect park for this activity. The park's managers tout this place as being perfect for fitness and relaxation and I agree with them. This is a possible destination park, depending on what you are looking to do. I recommend it for novice golfers, hikers and those looking to relax.

A delightful park in the middle area between Germantown and Downtown. It's so green and the lake is quite pretty. Even in the rain, it's an enjoyable experience.

This park needs a ton of attention. The playground is small and outdated. There are tons of huge trees but very few tables or areas to sit.

I'm only going to review this park base in the cherry blossom side, next to the botanical garden. This location particular is great for photos during spring when the cherry tree blooming. It's beautiful out here... nothing but peace... really. But the last time while I was taking a photo, almost got hit by a golf ball, I look and the guy and he look at me... for a good minute. He know at that exact moment, he shouldn't play golf at all, and should consider other sport. But other than that, the park is great. Please don't go here for picnic... not a good place for a picnic.

This park is very special to me because I used to walk with my mother there before she passes from leukemia. We loved how diverse the people were, some U of M students since we are so close to the university, that come to walk and enjoyed seeing the older gentlemen meet up on the main park bench at the start of the walking trail. I took my hubby there today and noticed the addition of an outdoor gym area eith working equipment. Definitely a step up.

Absolutely pathetic. Every trash can overflowing. Bums on several of the picnic tables. Trash all over playground and the matting around play ground is a trip hazard. City of memphis' parks committee has a lot of work to do.

This park is large and there were lots of people jogging and walking in the trails. It is really good for that, but there is only one playground area and it looks like no kids have played on it forever. Great place to go on a walk, not so great for taking your kids to play.

There are meandering trails, wide open spaces, pavillions, and benches for you to enjoy. The walkers/joggers are all smiles and it makes your cardio go by faster. Though its nestled right in the midst of busy intersections, once you're on the trails, you don't seem to notice.

This park is centrally located and, as Ebonye B. mentioned in her review, does not feel like it's surrounded by thoroughfares. There is a short (~1 mi) shaded run/walk path right off of Southern, but you can easily run through some of the other park areas, as well. The park is huge and also includes a big open soccer field, the Cancer Survivors Park, the Botanic Gardens (fee for entry), a golf course/driving range, tennis courts, and lots of other nice park-y stuff. It can't compete with Overton Park's playground in my book, but this is a really nice spot in Memphis.

This park is really close to where I live. It's really good if you just want to go somewhere close to university to power walk, jog, or walk the pups. It's also good for picnics. They have a couple of outdoor grills and relatively clean seating areas, only one of which has a roof. It's first come first serve. I have to be honest though, sometimes there are some very sketchy people that hang out there. I've had several people come up to me asking for money or for some of our picnic food. The park also has horrible restrooms. They used to have a small legit toilet area, but then they tore it down and replaced it with 2 porter potties which are always absolutely gross and usually out of TP. I was also there a couple times on a Friday morning when they chose to mow the grass. I hated it so much. The noise was terrible, and I was sneezing all day as a result. I don't get why they don't just mow it on a Monday morning when I'm sure very few people are there. In short, this park has a lot of potential but is currently not the best park to go to in Memphis.
