One of my personal peeves is a restaurant that has a catalog for their menu. Either they use the same three ingredients and serve 20 versions of it, or they don't do any of the 101 menu items well. Ash's focuses on a few things, like fish and chips. This meal was excellent, especially the perfectly-seasoned fish. The fries were a tad salty and the English peas were an unexpected (but good!) surprise. Our server was well organized, perfectly attentive and helpful. The pub is tucked in the back of a parking lot in an unassuming building in downtown OB, but inside it is like walking into a pub in Cavan. The perfect spot for a great meal with your spouse or a night out with friends. We'll be back.

I normally wouldn't write a second review, but a recent event gives me cause to want to share.I have reviewed Ash's twice now, once on Yelp, and once on Google. On both reviews, I spoke highly of the facility but pointed out that the pricing is far too high, and way out of line with the market. Mr. Ash's response was to attack my review, and claim that I never have been in his bar "as far as I know". This seems to be in keeping with Mr. Ash's response to any critical review....calling reviewers rude, or challenging them to go open their own bar. In my case he made the statement that if I couldn't afford his prices, there were cheaper places. I assure you, I don't have a problem paying any price, so long as there is value for the money, and in this case there is not. On to the recent event....last evening I received Facebook messages from Mr. Ash, asking me if we "had a problem that needed to be handled in private" (I took that to mean let's step outside). He also said that since I have "nothing that helps develop the business" (I wasn't aware that it was the patrons responsibility to help improve his business), to "not walk onto my property"....another of his go to moves. He also said, in regard to his excessive prices, that " I have it priced at what it takes to stay open". Seems to me that if your budget and overhead require you to price your self 100% over your market, there was no real understanding of costs to operate. I assured Mr. Ash he needn't worry about my return. As another reviewer here mentioned, Mr. Ash seems far to confrontational, unprofessional, quick to anger, lacks personal accountability, and seems to lack the basic business skills to run a proper establishment. I watched his postings for two years promising he was close to opening (yes, for two years) and, being Irish, was excited at the possibility, but alas was let down.Perhaps a Phoenix may rise from this Ash, but I am not very hopeful. On to the next.....

We didn't eat, the menu looked good. However, a pint of Michelob Ultra was $7.63, which is way overpriced. When we questioned the price we were told it was to keep the Riff Raff and college students out. We will probably not return due to the price of domestic beer. We hope this place will survive during this economy, but I am not sure they will if they keep charging these high beer prices.

Great choice! I dropped in for dinner on a Friday night. Menu is very light - like 4 things. Some might see that as bad, but I oddly liked it. Made the choice easy. Food was great and came to the table fast. Great choice of beers and I was able to get a bucket of PBR's for $15!! Multiple seating areas to choose from and the place is made and decorated in a very cool manner. There was a band, so a bit loud. Not an issue on this occasion, but would be if you were looking for more conversation w people. Give it a shot!

The food was delicious! I got the fish and chips, the batter on the fish was so good zero tartar sauce or hot sauce needed, the fish was buttery & the chips (fries) were crisp & seasoned. My friend got the hamburger steak & it was not just a slab of meat, it was very well seasoned, the mashed potatoes and gravy were very light & cooked perfectly.

Fish and chips are amazing. Loved the bangers and mash. The shepherd's pie is on point too. They are constantly adding to their menu and I heard they just put on steaks have not had them yet you should try. Be patient still a new establishment and they will have liquor soon too.

15Aug2024: lunch time. Tried something different this time: I had a couple beers and shepherds pie, wife had chicken. Great food, great bar tender as always. Hey Ash - talk to your customers, get out there!! Want this place to be successful. You NEED marketing, signs, invitations to come check it out! And first and foremost, Claim your business on Yelp!

if I could give 0 stars I would. For starters, I asked if they served burgers, I was told that they did from 9pm-11pm, so I ordered the chicken & chips. The food was not good. As I was leaving, I saw people eating a burger. The owner clearly doesn't know how to respond to reviews on google. Very childish & obviously doesn't know how to run a resteraunt properly. Burger king would have been better than this in response to the owner's previous comment on google.

It's new. But as an Irish pub, I expected more. Fish and chips from frozen stock. Got 2 fish " fingers" and fries which were 50/50. Some done, someNot. I will try them again, but felt like a "bar", not an Irish pub at all.
