Agavos Cocina & Tequila

Definitely has a college bar type feeling, so don't expect upscale ambiance. Service was good and attentive and we never had to hunt down wait staff. Chips and salsa are average. I got the burger (I know, weird choice) and my husband got the Cameron a la diabla. The burger patty was delicious, though I could have done without everything else. Shrimp was delicious and spicy. Margarita was definitely not the best in Memphis. The mix they use is okay, just very average for the price.

Listen! I looked at the reviews before visiting and I had very low expectations. When I pulled up it didn't look that cute and it was a few people just hanging out in front by the cars. I was skeptical about going in. I can't lie this place didn't look that good but surprisingly I was very pleased with my service and my food. My food was a hit and very flavorful. I ordered tacos and some quest dip. I also ordered the margarita flight and it was just enough to drink. I will definitely visit again.

I was headed home on a Friday afternoon and decided to stop by. I'd seen the marg flight on social media a while back and figured I'd give it a try. First and foremost: Agavos has a particular vibe. You'll notice when you walk in that there is a rule posted for a rule posted for two more rules posted. It was chill when I went (a party seated outside used their truck to play music, but it wasn't a big deal), so that was appreciated. I started with the Happy Flight and it wasn't bad. It could've had a bit more flavor, but they seemed strong enough. Because it's a flight of frozen drinks, you'll have to drink them fairly quickly to avoid too much melting. I ordered the grilled chicken burrito (which was great) and washed it down with a house raspberry margarita. My personal experience on this day wasn't bad, but I implore you to read other reviews and decide if it's a place for you.

I would give 0 stars if I could but not because of the food which we never got to try. We walked in & frenetic dance music was playing incredibly loud. (It was about 4pm on a weekday afternoon!) While waiting to be seated & being ignored, we looked around & the place was not clean, nasty. Left & won't ever go back.

This place has really good food and adult beverages. The biggest deterrent is that before you leave you have to show them your receipt that you have paid for your meal. This is terribly disappointing. What the what?? I support local restaurants all over the midsouth area. The slap in the face was when we left, every minority was checked for their tickets but our caucasian friend was not. Not right. I have not been back since that experience. Very very sad.

Been here 5 minutes and there's a million flies. The booth we were sat in was filthy. I had to use my personal Clorox wipes to wipe the tortillas chips out the creases in the booth. ALL of the menus are dirty. I went through over 10 menus trying to find one that didn't have old, dried salsa on it. Nobody even came over to us until we finished cleaning and had sat down. The hostess clearly hates her job, as soon as I walked in the door, she just asked me "for two?" No greeting, just for two? Like wow... They have the glasses for the "happy" shots literally sitting out on the bar for anybody to walk past and breathe on them as if COVID ISNT REAL.There was a small hair in my blue shot from my Happy shot platter... my rice was freezing cold and rice is supposed to hold heat so it had to be old as who knows.. at least my burrito was really good! Then as we were leaving, we got harassed and disrespected by the rent a cop at the door who had literally JUST got there a couple minutes before we left. Apparently you have to show your receipt before you leave out the restaurant, the waitress never told us that. We had balled it up and thrown the receipt away by that point. Now don't get me wrong, my burrito was SO good but I can NOT go back here. Way too many things wrong. My two stars are for the burrito and that's all!

Waitress was rude during lunch hour. There were 3 customers in the restaurant besides myself. She did not want to admit she forgot to bring my bill for over 40 minutes. She was walking around playing with a child. I told her I'm an extremely ready to go. She then began to make me wait longer for the bill as a tactic to antagonize me. She was yelling and being extremely rude about me to her coworker across the bar. To make this the worst experience ever, my bill was $12.01. She left herself a $10 tip on a $12 bill. I disputed the charge. That is literal STEALING. I would never leave S10 for something that basically cost $10. I would never authorize that. Thats insane. That's almost a 100% tip. NO WAY JOSE! Would NOT recommend.Food was gross. Taco salad had a chicken bone in it?Drinks tasked like rubbing alcohol. Restaurant location is in the hood and they have security so I shouldn't have expected much. Would give them a ZERO out of TEN but Yelp won't allow it. Awful.

I enjoyed visiting here! The food was good and the drinks was awesome as well. It was my sister in law birthday, so the manager gave her a free shot when we purchased a round for the table. The bacon wrapped shrimp was my personal favorite, along with the Happy Flights . My husband had Chicken Quesadillas, he didn't seem to happy with them . My sister-in-law law enjoy the skillet entree she had though. I gave 4 stars only because The place is kind of small on the inside and not in the safest location but they did have a security person on site (but he seemed weird himself) but I will definitely go back just not late night or alone, they also play rap music for the younger crowd I guess but I was told you can request music too . Oh and be sure to get two copies of your receipt because you have to turn One in to exit the restaurant, I'm not sure why but we did ....
