Abner's Famous Chicken

Location: Crosstown Concourse. Might be being a bit generous giving  5 stars but didn't want to back all the way down to 4 stars as this is the only time I have been here.  I'll start with the good stuff. This is a chicken place and the chicken tenders were GREAT! Big pieces of tender, juicy chicken, nice and hot, with a crispy breading  Ratio of breading to chicken is great, not too much breading. Flavorful enough to eat without a dipping sauce (but I'm not a psychopath so of course I had sauces).  The house made chips were also a win.  They were thin and crunchy, hot, and clearly had not been sitting around waiting for an order.   Oh yeah, the buttered Texas toast was yummy too.  I mean, can you really go wrong there?Now for the not so great.  The bacon ranch pasta salad I selected as a side had no bacon or ranch flavor and tasted like mayonnaise on pasta. The slaw was equally disappointing and tasted like shredded cabbage with no dressing.  The sauces for the tenders were good, but I wouldn't classify them as special or great.  A place that specializes in  chicken tenders should have amazing sauces in my opinion.  The house sauce was a mayo base and like the pasta salad had  too much mayo flavor, not enough any other flavor.  The other 2 sauces I had were blue cheese and spicy buffalo.  Hard to go wrong with those. Service was quick.  The staff was friendly and attentive.  I really wanted to love this place but I'm not there after this one visit.  I'm going to give it another try sometime.  The salad with chicken tenders that I spotted as I was leaving looked very good and will be my reason for my next visit to Abner's.

Good for a quick and satisfying meal. I enjoyed their sandwich and curly fries. If you need something quickly but better than fast food, this is a good option.

So, I came for the 901 popup shop but needed a snack after shopping. I got a junior plate, it was 4 nuggets, fries, toast and a small drink.. it was fresh, hot and freakin delish. The young ladies at the counter were friendly and efficient. N the kitchen cranked out our boxes.. sorry no pic, I wuz starvin.. juss trust me..

Pretty good good but over priced for sure - meals do not come with a drink so you have to pay extra for that which is annoying. Service is hit or miss, we've waited 15 minutes and then over an hour another time. It's convenient for us so we go fairly often.

Good food a lil salty but I will eat here again. The wings and tenders are made fresh and the manager is great.

The customer service? Very well done! Was greeted when I walk into the restaurant. The restaurant is very nice and clean. And you can smell the cleanness into the restaurant. Which I love. Asked the front desk cashier. Which she is amazing. Asked her what's some of her favorite. And I was recommended. The chicken strips, with the sweat chili sauce. That came with Texas toast, and cold slaw. And a sweet tea. And the manager "Terence" a wonderful guy! And he also greeted me. And asked if me order was great and did o need anything! I will be coming back to this restaurant. And I recommend everyone to try this restaurant. Xoxoxoxoxo

I have never left an online food review before because I am typically go-with-the-flow and happy with anything, but the rudeness and poor service we were met with when ordering warranted a review. To start, they appeared to be understaffed with only 3 people working which I absolutely understand and can relate to as someone formerly in food service. However, taking that frustration out on your customers is not necessary. There were also only 4 tables occupied and only 1 person in line when we arrived. We waited behind 1 other couple for 15 minutes while no one came to the front to take their order. When a man finally did come, he walked away after charging the card without offering a receipt or saying anything, leaving them confused as to whether they were okay to go or not. We waited another 10 minutes for him to come back and take our order. When he came back, he stared at my husband and said nothing. We didn't know if he was ready for our order or not, so my husband said "Hi, how are you?" The man proceeded to roll his eyes and not respond- instead nodding his head and asking us what we wanted. My husband and I ordered, and when we repeated everything at the end of the order to make sure it was complete, the man cut us off and said "yeah, I got it." He walked away after our card was charged. We waited to see if he would come back to give us the receipt, but he never did. So we had to reach across the counter and get our receipt.When the food came out, it tasted great! There were a few things missing on the tacos we ordered, but we were able to go to the front where there was a MUCH nicer man now taking orders and he proceeded to get us what we needed and was very kind. Maybe there were lots of online orders? Maybe the man who originally took our order was having a tough day? I'm not sure, but regardless the only thing that made this 2-stars over 1-star was the nice man who helped us out when we went back to fix our order. Unfortunately, we won't be re-visiting and can't say we would recommend this location to other people. (This is also completely outside of their control as employees so I didn't fault them for it, but it's crazy to me that they charge for cups of water... Might be something worth revisiting as a company at some point.)

Food is so trash. Chicken is so dry. The fries are stale and taste like they've been sitting out. Not worth the money

I order the 3 Fried Chicken tenders (2 regular & 1 Spicy rub) with coleslaw, pasta salad, & French Fries. Included the spicy BBQ and honey mustardIt was all delicious and I highly recommend I personal loved the spicy chicken a lot more but both were Juicy and perfectly fried A worker (I believe) named Jonathan took my order, as it was my first time here.He gave me his personal recommendations & named the popular options that other customers have order. He even explained some mild complaints some people like pasta salad being too creamy which I still loved The ambiance is solid, very clean, had multiple seating area and a bunch of TVS broadcasting sports channels Overall highly recommend food was great, reasonably priced, staff was amazing and food came out in a reasonable amount of time

Service was very slow. Food was okay. Not worth the wait for what you get and the price. Staff was nice.
