A and J's Catfish Station

A and J serves the best catfish in the city of Memphis! The fish is fresh and the pieces are big served with one side! The place is crowded but the service is great whether you order takeout or decide to eat inside the restaurant! There are booths and tables and plenty of tvs to look at! There's also homemade desserts! They have great hushpuppies and the fish is piping hot!

2 pc catfish dinner, 2 sides, 2 hushpuppies, $15.99 ($10.99 lunch special Mon-Fri)catfish...8/10..seasoned well, but the pcs are smallcandied yams...7/10...too much nutmeg, not enough sugarmac and cheese...6/10...lacks flavor, very blandhush puppies are good, but greasy to mereceived 2 packets of ketchupDefinitely not worth $15.99, but is worth $10.99...

The service is top tier! On a Friday night, early around 5:30pm it was not crowded for dine-in but of course there is a line for carry out at the door! But when I say organized and well oiled machine, yes it was that but warm and friendly. Directions on where to stand are clearly displayed for call-in and to-go. A sign was also displayed regarding wait time. There was no yelling out orders or the feel of chaos and I like that. There were no employees standing around looking busy or multiple people in one spot, again very well oiled machine. The prices are clearly displayed with specials listed. So as I stepped up, I placed my order for 2pcs catfish dinner for $10.99 that came with 1 side and hush puppies. Not bad but how does it taste? The hush puppies are sweet but good. I got okra as a side and they nothing specia and a bit greasy but just okay. They were not hot out the grease but greasy. Hush puppies were not fresh out the grease but still good. Now the main character, the catfish. It was hot out the grease and that smell is the things dreams are made of, you long for that smell. I looked inside and snmiled a big smile. Very nice two pieces of catfish for the price. My only complaint is I prefer my fish fried a bit harder, with a crunch and this was not that. However, it was fried well and was good but no special seasoning just good fried fish. I would absolutely go back agin and request a hard fry.

This place allows dine-in and carry out. We ordered the Salmon Salad, Crab Cakes, and Catfish Basket (3 pc). The crab cakes are delicious and the sauce is great. The fish was cooked perfectly. More food than I thought it would be. I will return for more.

This is by far and away my favorite spot for Catfish near my work. I'm really glad they are here. It's simple, consistent, fairly inexpensive if you get the specials, and the people are just really nice. I've never encountered anyone who wasn't overly polite and extra helpful. I think it's run by a family if I'm not mistaken. All of the staff makes an effort to make sure you like your food and have everything you might need. I just love that! It's uncommon to find these days and I really appreciate it. I would probably continue coming here even if the food was sub par. Good news for you and me is that it is not! Now, let me say this, I've only had the fried catfish each time I've been here so I cannot comment on anything else. If I have catfish on my mind, this is where I'm headed every time, especially since Southern Hands around the corner cannot remove their heads from their asses and stop sucking. Anyway, I digress.... The fish is always cooked to order and arrives hot and fresh every time. I've had some cool hush puppies before but they get a pass on that. I love the breading on the fish, it's damn tasty stuff. Fries are out of a bag but they are pretty good factory fries. I will be back.... If you know something I need to get other than the fish please message me and let me know. Always professional. Good service with good food. I'm having the seafood platter. It has everything for a taste bud. Catfish, oysters, crab cakes and don't forget the shrimp. TVs to watch while eating. Had to wait a minute but it's worth it. It's cooked fresh

I'm going to take a very educated guess and say the reason they don't have as many reviews as they should is because a lot of people simply don't yelp down here! Why do I say that, I called in my order and did pick up and I waited for my food maybe 3 mins max and there were SOOOOO many people coming in and out for to go orders I literally stopped counting!!! And they weren't coming for one plate like me, the average was 3 plates per pickup MINIMUM!! Most were well over that. Anywho, yes yes and DO YOU SHIP!! I got the seafood platter because I wanted to try a little bit of everything and boy super happy about it.Platter comes with catfish, shrimp, oysters, hush puppies and 2 sides. I got Mac and cheese and baked beans. Every single item tasted DIFFERENT so what that translates to is they don't use the same grease for fish that they use for shrimp and etc!! Their oil is clean and you can actually taste the food. Catfish was just good ol catfish. Crispy, goodness and the tartar sauce was kinda sweet, homemade and soooo good.Shrimp was soooo good and meaty! Cocktail sauce for shrimp perfect! Wasn't a fan of the oysters but I've NEVER had oysters so not sure what their suppose to taste like.Mac and cheese is seasoned with pepper and I hate seasoned Mac and cheese but hubby basically licked the bowl because that's his preference. THE BEST CATFISH IN THE M FA SHO!! I love their hush puppies. Sometimes I'll just order the hush puppies and coleslaw. Every time someone asks for a recommendation for catfish, I always mention A&J catfish station.
