Wish I had snapped a pic before diving in!Tater salad is perfect with crunches from onion, pickle and celery. Great balance of mayo and mustard with addition of egg like my mama used to make.Crispy & refreshing apple slaw with grainy mustard dressing is a lovely change from the usual bland varieties that need to take a rest.Generous slabs of moist & delicious brisket should not be missed. Chef Melton uses a blend of hardwoods to create a complex layer of flavors.Bam & Yum!

We had a few kinds but my honey shared it with some friends. I had enough to dry rub 2 beef roasts and smoked them 5 hours with hickory. Oh my did they come out wonderful. The BBQ is out of this world . Really you have to try it yourself to know. I guess I should clarify we had some bottles of BBQ sauce and some BBQ rub. We live in NV and had some sent by a Good Samaritan.

On previous trips, to visit our daughter in Normandy Park, the opportunity to purchase BBQ from Melton's never materialized. Today that all changed. As a carryout lunch, the three of us shared the garlic/herb chicken (half) plate and the pulled pork plate. For sides, we had potato salad, mac 'n' cheese, slaw and beans. Everything was delicious.

Stopped by the Burien Winter Market and saw this new stand. Everything they had sounded good, so I grabbed a few things after a great chat with Jason, the chef and owner. There's definitely some pride here. Everything was amazing. Ribs- super super Smokey and meaty, with a dry rub. Jason gave me both his spicy and non-spicy sauce on the side and both were soooo tasty! Tofu- don't judge me, but I love me some great flavored tofu (in addition to being a major carnivore). This was special. Smoked tofu with his dry rub? Amazing. And his sides (cold slaw, the aforementioned kale salad and Mac and cheese) were totally spot on. You can tell Jason has put his own spin on them, and I finished all 3 wanting more (even though the portions were more than generous). I can't wait to try his Brisket, pulled pork, chicken and whatever else he smokes. I'm a fan.

Living in Washington, you get accustomed to being disappointed by barbeque. But luckily for me, that doesn't stop me from trying smoked brisket any chance I get. When I was walking through the Burien farmer's market, I didn't have to think twice after seeing the Melton's BBQ stand. I hadn't seen it before but I'm a sucker for a simple menu and, of course, the brisket was calling my name. After a few magical minutes in my oven at home, the fatty slices were perfectly melty but had a satisfying chew with lovingly charred crust and end bits. Now, the sides. When it comes to barbeque in this state, I also don't ever have high hopes for sides. I find that mac and cheese from bbq joints, for whatever reason, isn't always that appetizing unless piping hot, and even then, the sad scoop of noods and cheese is often not much to write home about. But mac and cheese has my heart and I will always keep my heart open, regardless of how much hurt I've gone through in the past. And let me tell you: Melton's mac was a surprising homerun with its silky cheese sauce holding up even as it cooled on my plate. And another note that I'd say is both a pro and a con: while a great mac, for me, this rendition still screamed for a little somethin' extra. But IMO having the room to spice up or otherwise customize your mac and cheese to your liking at home is the right move for a take-home meal like this. So, that said, keep doing what you're doing Melton's, but MY PRO TIP TO DINERS: sprinkle a little paprika and a whisper of fresh cracked pepper. Or do you, boo-boo. You won't go wrong. Now, lastly, but certainly not least: the Sasquatch Salad. Normally, I like collard greens with my bbq. I like it vinegary and bright, but otherwise classic braised or sauteed greens are what I look forward to. So though I was disappointed I couldn't round out my "usual" order of brisket, mac, and greens, the feeling was fleeting and I was far more curious about the "Sasquatch Salad" on the menu. Jay, the owner, explained I could expect it to be a lighter alternative to traditional greens -- a light, zesty blend of kale, veggies, and quinoa. It sounded suspiciously healthy. But I went for it. And now hear this: I could (and want to) eat this salad EVERY DAMN DAY. 10/10 would recommend to give your palate flavorful reprieve while you plow through a heaping of bbq. After passing this first stress test of my go-to's (brisket, mac, greens) with flying colors, I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. And now I have a good excuse to schedule my PT appointments in Burien on Thursdays... just to catch Melton's at the farmer's market. Without a doubt, it'll be worth the drive from Seattle every time.

Wow! We will be back next Thursday for more of this BBQ at the Burien Winter Farmer's Market. Great smoked ribs, and I have to say...the potato salad and mac and cheese sides were excellent! Sides are often a weak link at BBQ spots, but here...mmm...mmm, I'm ready to try more!

Great barbecue from a great local chef. So far I've tried the mac n cheese, sasquatch salad, moms tater salad, and the vinegar slaw. All were delicious. Chef Melton's spice rub on his bbq is great as well. Dusty's Demon sauce has a nice kick to it as well.

I've been going to Meltons BBQ ever since I moved to Burien 2 and half years ago from Texas. And boy do we talk Que every time. What makes Jason Meltons BBQ so good is it's his own brand of cooking. He's not trying to mimic a style or anything. He has a passion for smoked meats and knows what he likes. He's always growing, experimenting and improving while providing solid staples. His food has gotten better and better over the years to where I can easily say it's the best BBQ I've had in Seattle area. His brisket is tasty. He knows his pork and chicken. It's cooked perfectly and always on point. All his sauces are used to their last drop in this household. My wife loves his smoked tofu. His smoked meat beans are amazing and his potato salad reminds me of home. Generous portions. Meltons BBQ is more than delicious food it's a love letter to smoked meats.

I enjoy treating myself here at the Burien Farmers Market occasionally. Food is excellent. My favorite is the brisket, although the ribs are also very good. Sides of potato salad, macaroni and cheese, and beans are all wonderful. Portions are large. Prices very reasonable. Owner is generally engaging and informative. I did catch him grouchy one Thursday when I showed up just as the market was opening and he wasn't set up, so I guess he's human. If you're anywhere near Burien, suggest you stop by and try this food. Don't think you'll be disappointed.
