I know, I know, who goes to Little Italy for a Taiwanese Beef Noodle? However I was intrigued by the restaurant's location and decided to give it a try.The restaurant is located inside of Little Italy Food Hall alongside with other food vendors such as pizza, tacos and burgers. The menu is quite diverse, from traditional chow mein, to pad thai, ramen, kimchi fry rice and Singaporean rice noodle. Covering pretty much all East Asian food spectrum. The staff (2 older gentlemen who probably are the owners) were very friendly and attentive and the order was ready in about 10 minutes. I chose Taiwanese Beef Noodle because it was something I do not eat often compared to other dishes and it did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the meat was tender, the broth was well seasoned and slightly spicy (giving a mild tingling numbness to the mouth).I might try their other dishes when we stop by Little Italy again.

It's located inside the food court that overlooks the main piazza in Little Italy. You order at the counter and then find a seat either inside, near the bar or outside, at one of the many tables available on the piazza.I was curious about the offerings at the food court and frankly wasn't interested in the other places (fried chicken, pizza, pasta, gelato) so this was a better option in terms of variety.I tried the singporean noodles- curious what they might be. They were basically thin rice noodles with sauce made from curry powder (more generic American curry tasting) with shrimp, green onions and bean sprouts. The portion is very generous- I ordered to sit at a table outside but they gave me a foam carton that was completely full. The food was exactly as described but didn't have the authentic flavor you would expect in a southeast Asian country like Singapore or Malaysia. In any case, I sat outside and had a very nice convo with a nice guy who happens to live in the neighborhood, so it made for a nice lunch.

Just got off the plane and was looking for something quick, so I popped into the Little Italy food hall, and saw other people with Mein St. food and decided to give it a go. I went with the general tso's chicken bento box which came with rice and gyoza. I also added a couple of cream cheese wontons for an additional $2. They asked how spicy I wanted from a scale of 1-10, and went with a 6.The portion size was generous, however the dish was a little too sweet for my liking, I think if I went spicy, I would've enjoyed it more, however not sure if I'd order again. Much rather try their other chef specials. I do appreciate that everything was made to order vs the cafeteria style is when it sits there. The food came out piping hot and which is always a plus. For $26 after a drink, tax, and tip, it is on the pricier side but if you are craving this style of food, it's the only place in the food hall offering Asian food.

I was overjoyed when I spotted this place has Taiwanese Beef!!!! Although on my way there I was planning to buy a pizza, but my eyes caught the dish -- Taiwanese BEEF!!!!Well, my craving caved in!! I ordered the Taiwanese Beef & the fried Tofu!!!! (Both are Taiwanese cuisine !!!) I am so excited & joyful to find it in the Little Italy!! I was over the moon of my delights! I grab a drink from the bar - Opera Prima - Spain White wine and off I set out at the piazza and enjoyed the beautiful afternoon. This is the life! Sipping the white wine immediately transported me back to Italy!!! Oh what a refreshing taste. They were great and provided me table service, I guess they figure I was too indulging in the atmosphere I have forgotten of the buzzer. LolOh now onto the food! Taiwanese Beef. The noodle is Ma Ma Mia! Luscious and saporous! I wonder who makes these noodles! It's hand make I hope!! Being the texture of these noodles are toothsome, chewy, and al dente with a bounce of flavor and taste!!!I was very impressed by the noodles!!! No that's what a good noodle dish should be like! The beef on the other hand was okay, but if they stew it in longer oh boy, It would definitely be on a whole new level~~!!! Or even used different part of the beef. Baby! Oh! ....!!! Anyways, and the fried Tofu!!! It was tasty but the tofu was a bit hard to bit into. But hey this was the closest I have taste to the real Taiwanese food ever in San Diego!! I take the loss!! I say it's 70% closest to the true authentic food of Taiwanese cuisine. Tweak here and there! Oh baby!! I be here daily!! lol Drinking the white wine to clear my palate, it does give me such a refreshing taste. Reminding of my time in Italy. Ahhh those memories.

Arrived at this spot about 10 minutes after they opened and ordered the xiao long bao (pork soup dumplings) and that's all. The order took over 25 minutes to come out and after all that wait the dumplings had absolutely no soup in it at all. Extremely dissapointing experience and absolutely irritated at the fact it took that long for a messed up order. Will not try this place again as the other spots in that food court were far better and more attentive.

I got the pad Thai, orange chicken bento box,and fried rice. The spicy level recommended for my fried rice was a 7. Hands down the best pad Thai and fried rice that I have had and I have been to a lot a places. The price of the food was fair, but the amount that was given was very generous. Definitely recommend.

I was getting tired of tacos, pizza, and fried chicken so I gambled and tried some Asian food in... yes Little Italy. There are only a handful of Asian restaurants here so it was risky but I was really craving some meat and rice after all my meals were of the above types.I tried the kung pao chicken and was hoping it would be more like the ones at Americanized Chinese restaurants (or even if it were like the one at Panda Express I would be okay with that). I was hoping for some lightly stir fried chicken with a light brown sauce but instead I got small fried bits of chicken with this bright red sauce that was definitely very sweet. I don't like my savory dinner meals to be that sweet. This is my least favorite kind of Americanized Chinese sauce so I was disappointed. The bowl was also on the more expensive size $17 so I was even more bummed.I read the receipt in my email later and it mentioned that kung pao chicken was ".... new york style - sweet red mandarin sauce" if they had indicated that on the menu I definitely would not have picked this dish.I barely ate half of the bowl.
