Meat the Live Butcher

This place is really good as a small, local butcher that has a wide variety of interesting products. I can't rate them a full five stars though, because of two things that unfortunately butted up against neurological issues of mine: first off, the hand sanitizer they provided at the door was incredibly fragrant with a lingering scent that triggers one of my sensitivities (and gave me a migraine shortly after I left), and secondly I found only after I got home that one of their sausage products has MSG (monosodium glutamate) in it.While MSG is indeed safe in general, it can cause problems for certain rare neurological conditions (including mine). Usually when I'm buying food in the grocery store I'm able to watch out for it and check the food label, but it never occurred to me that I should ask to see the ingredient listing for fresh sausage at a small butcher shop!Anyway. Neither of these things is a huge mark against the business itself, but it's something that folks should watch out for if they have similar sensitivities as me. For the vast majority of the population it's fine.

I saw a Delmonico steak in the counter that was gorgeous; I lusted to have that steak although I asked for a pot roast. Behind the counter I could see steak cuts aging that made my mouth water. Although I've heard of the Live Butcher for a few years; I've never come here before. It's my loss as I believe this is the best butcher in King County. I'm definitely going to be coming here more often and taking advantage.

Wonderful neighborhood butcher shop with mouthwatering cuts and friendly local faces. Appreciate the very appropriate covid precautions put in place during these time, with plastic curtains and 2 person limit. Fair price point. Go to butcher for quality steak night at home.

Love this butcher. I have tried others throughout the area, but keep coming back here! Freshest meat available and very comparable prices to grocery store. Clean shop a and great people to chat with. I can get meat cut to my specifications and can special order anything I need.Ask for Brittany! She will take awesome care if you!If you like wings, try their pre-seasoned Malibu wings! Absolutely the best!

Its St. Patricks day during Coronageddon and I realize I dont have any ground lamb. QFC - out. Safeway - out. I go home, sad panda and all, and remember; Holy crap! MEAT THE LIVE BUTCHER! For the past 4 years I've gotten my beef brisket about 2 weeks prior to St Patricks from here to do a proper brine (14 days) - with all the recent hysteria not only did I completely forget about St Patricks Day, but I forgot about my beloved butcher shop! I called and the sweetest woman answered the phone. In my best panicky voice "hey um (dont cough Grace dont cough) do you happen to have any ground lamb?!" YES! YES THEY DO! Hooray they've saved the St Patricks day!Drove as quick as possible to the location, picked up my precious lamb (I has the wares) and pranced home. Thank you thank you for servicing our area in this time of craziness!

***Update*** Grade remains the same, but I did have the Hot Link over the weekend. Very Spicy, exactly how I like it, decent flavor, but I have had better. Solid spot and I'll certainly be back in hopes of getting their original Jerky.

We came in recently to get some bones for our dog and some meat for my husband. Tom was awesome, super knowledgeable and friendly. We will be coming back again soon and will most likely become regulars here.

My boyfriend has been going to this butcher since they were known at Bernie and Boys in Tukwila. Our go to spot when we want good, quality meat. They dry age their steaks in house, great quality. They will cut the meats how you would like. Their customer service is fantastic and it's great supporting a small, family owned business. Would highly recommend them!

I ordered a pork loin roast for a dinner party that I held this last Saturday. It was truly magnificent! Nicely marbled, flavorful and juicy. Everyone raved. The butcher boned it for me, split the bones so I could use them in stock and would have tied it for me, but I wanted to use a spice rub so I asked him not to.The service was great and the roast made the party! It was so good that I broke with my usual practice of sending my guests home with doggie bags. I'm greedy. I want all the leftovers
