Dinner with friends, we arrived before 6pm and were warmly welcomed despite not having a reservation.Charcuterie plate to start. Nicely presented and a lot of cheese and meat and nibbles. A perfect starter and plenty of it.For mains, I chose the cioppino and it was very good. Tasty broth and a few mussels with some pieces of fish and some clams. I'm glad I wasn't wearing anything white as this is the definition of "splashy."[Review 20914 overall - 120 in Washington - 1898 of 2023.]

I went here today as part of a 13 person group. Someone in the group organized and from discussions we ended up in a room. We had originally anticipated 17 people which is how they decided to get us a room. Due to a smaller group size than anticipated, we ended up not hitting their minimum spend amount for the room. It was something that wasn't communicated so we did have that waived this time. Before ordering, I did see the stars so I was prepared not to be wow-ed. I ordered the eggs benedict. Now this wasn't exactly the cheapest but as prices rise, it wasn't insane. We arrived around 1pm but it took till nearly 2pm to get our food. With a party this size, it was bound to have some service problems. My eggs benedict was on the colder end and not quite as runny as I would have liked. Overall it was fine. I would have given it a three if it were just for these factors but I learned someone in the party had received her fish dish undercooked. Conceptually and visually, I love the idea of McMenamins but the toss up on food that makes me apprehensive to return anytime soon.

Delicious and will order again. Be sure to order everything the 1st time, because the wait staff and cook time is slow.

Normally, I avoid hotel restaurants, but I'm happy I tried this one. Had breakfast here on a solo trip to the hotel, was pretty impressed with the atmosphere and service early on a rainy Saturday morning. The quality of the food was great and they made an excellent breakfast cocktail as well. The atmosphere is quirky and cool and makes you want to keep walking around and see more. For the more intrepid souls one can even have breakfast outside next to a fireplace. Definitely worth a look if you're in the area.

Atmosphere: Super cute place. Nice and plentiful outdoor seating. We came here for a summer happy hour with my co-workers and it was a lovely place to just hangout and have a good time. Food: I was thoroughly disappointed with just about everything that was ordered. I got their Burger and though I love burgers, I ate about 3 bites and couldn't bring myself to eat any more of it. It was dry and tasteless and I have no idea how a burger becomes like that. Their tater tots were suppose to be really good but they were not even warm when I got them and they tasted no better than grocery store frozen tots. I had no desire to try their other stuff after the burger. Maybe I can see this is a place to meet up for happy hour for the area and atmosphere but I really disliked the food.

I stayed at the Anderson School this last weekend and we made reservations for brunch at Tavern on the Square. As with most McMenamins properties, the vibe here is comfy and eclectic. The service was great too. It was pretty slow for a Sunday morning which was nice because we got our food and drinks quickly.I went with the Biscuits & Gravy and was pleasantly surprised. The presentation was pretty and the gravy was delicious! Great choice if you're a B&G fan.

Nice cozy tavern with a lot of potential but it needs new inspiration. If you're looking for a relaxing fun and long meal, this may be a place you go. We had the bagel and lox, cheesesteak special, and mac and cheese with broccoli for the kid. Food was okay - it didn't stand out but it certainly did its job and I enjoyed my breakfast. I had an iced americano which was too watered down and took 20 minutes to come out (no joke) but I drank that for the caffeine. Service was very lacking. Walked in Saturday brunch time and we had multiple staff members walking by saying "someone will be with you shortly." Shortly later we stopped believing lol. But we eventually got seated and then someone came to take our drink order 15 min later. It took another 20 min to get our drinks, then another 10 to order. The restaurant was pretty empty. Not sure what was going on as it seemed well staff but attentiveness or job clarity was lacking as it took forever. Ambiance - beautiful. Love the historic feel the spaciousness and beautiful look outside. Honestly if we had all the time in the world I would've enjoyed the slow service just cause it's so relaxing in here. Plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. Bathroom was ok meaning the kitchen cleanliness is probably ok. All in all - this place has a lot of unrealized potential. Probably not coming back but hey, it was time well spent and if someone asked me to go back I would.
