Lived near Main st for a long time. The food used be good, I think it's changed hands so portion is small and food tastes off. It's not the go to spot for me anymore. The service was excellent back in the days, now it's ok! It's a Meh for me!

Ordered pan fried dumplings, scallion pancakes, beef teriyaki & beef with snow peas. Everything tasted bland but especially the dough in the dumplings & scallion pancakes. Beef so tough most of it was inedible. Soy ginger sauce was way too sweet. Next !

I have been ordering from May's cafe for well over ten years and I am not sure if the management has changed or if the once excellent, fresh, mouth watering food has just gone downhill for good. I will say the last two times I have ordered I have been disappointed but this last time warrants a review. I ordered a lot of food, for multiple people, and the money to me on Chinese food is always well spent but this was just bad. The boneless spare ribs are my favorite and these tasted as if I was chewing on leather; almost like they were reheated from a prior batch, definitely not fresh. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and the expectation was a dish with diced chicken, veggies and a delicious sweet and sour sauce, as I am used to ordering at other locations, I have to include a photo of the fluorescent red sauce which I was actually nervous to consume and fried chicken fingers to dunk them.The fried rice had pieces of extremely discolored chicken, and overall wasn't really fried rice more so a mushy, assortment of rice with other items. I don't like to complain, I really enjoy food, this was just very appalling.

May's consistently serves the best Chinese food I have ever had. I'm sure at some point, on some adventure, I have had as good. I just can't remember.The Pu Pu platter can feed a family for a week. Tonight it was just me and so I went for a combo plate. Starting at the top, the fried shrimp were big, the batter was crisp and greaseless, and the taste of the shrimp dominated. Next up, the chicken wings. The outer layer was crispy and the chicken meat tender and moist. The flavor of the seasoning was a component and did not dominate. The boneless spare ribs were moist with crispy sections here and there. I normally pass on boneless spare ribs - but not May's. Finally the pork fried rice. The rice itself was plump and flavorful. The tidbits of onion, pork, egg, and scallions are visible and perfectly disbursed through the rice. This is old school New England Chinese. They have the high quality sweet sauce and the hot mustard. All this for $10.

I was craving Chinese food last night. To be honest there used to be plenty of great places to get Chinese around here!! Sadly either most have closed down or the quality of food is sub-par at best. Well, here comes Mays cafe to save the day!! It's a lil drive for me, so I haven't been here in several years. Anyhow, as I was looking for a place for Chinese food, the options were so slim... Then I remembered Mays! I was nervous that maybe the quality had changed over the years.. I've experienced this at so many local restaurants. Anyhow I called, and right away, I was so pleased with the accommodating, friendly customer service I received when ordering. When I got home, portions were big, food was fresh and super delicious! I don't review much, but I want to shout out Mays Cafe for keeping thier standards high and serving the best Chinese around... with a smile! Thankkkkyoo!(Btw price point was definitely fair at $17 for a combo plate to feed 2!!)

So very disappointed always ordered in the past for personal and work. We went to CHA Work Force function in cambridge, and the the food was amazing. We are 75 and live on fixed income but decided to treat ourselves Sunday to mays take out. It was so bad chickenwings,boneless spare ribs,teriyaki, crab Rangoon, so over cooked dry. We ended up trashing it. The shrimp,egg rolls, and Marco polo were good. Very disappointed that we wasted our money Lee Pedro
