I came here since I was trying to go to another restaurant but it was full. I don't know if it was an off day, but the walnut shrimp tasted super fishy most likely because it was old. The portions were large but this was the worst walnut shrimp I've had. The servers were nice and attentive but the quality of the shrimp was extremely subpar. On the plus side it comes with a free bowl of rice and there are a ton of seats. It was pretty quiet inside too. I hope that in the future they use shrimp that is more fresh.

Amazing family owned restaurant, in the heart of China town. Loved the late night atmosphere ( was just the cute family that owns the restaurant)

We visited Mayflower while in Chicago for a flight to India. We have been to all the larger dim sum places. I think this one is equally as good. Everything was fresh, full and so delicious! The place was pretty full and every table had multiple steaming dishes and dim sum plates. The Shu Mai may be my favorite in the city. I'm heading back this week and will stop in, at least for a little bite!

This place used to be good, my mom's side of the family were regulars here at one point, and it seems to have gone downhill since the pandemic. It's my first time back since then, and the service is nonexistent -- this is coming from someone who speaks the native tongue to the staff. The owner and waiter were both present, they both act like they don't want to be there and don't even want to be in business. We came here on a Friday around 3:30pm, we were the only ones in the restaurant, and it's because it's typically down time between lunch and dinner rush. It took a while for our food to be made, my partner and my dad were like what's going on because there's no one here. My mom wanted to come here based on her family's experience from a while back, and we came to celebrate her and my dad's birthday. When the food did come out, it was decent, but I've had better. How do you mess up salt and pepper fried shrimp? The batter wasn't crispy -- it looked like there was too much batter and the oil wasn't hot enough, which is why the batter was runny melting off. The shrimp was tiny, and it wasn't deveined. They even forgot that my dad brought in a cake. We weren't offered iced waters until we asked. It's a table for 4, and we were only given 2 menus. I don't usually write bad reviews, but you need to run don't walk. I agree with others that there's a bit of racism involved in their demeanor with patrons who are not White or Chinese, don't take it as an offense because my experience as one of them is sh*t also. They don't greet their customers in general, you'll get a one word response if you ask a direct question, and they're the type where they won't laugh even if you tickle them. By the time we were done with our food, my mom asked how everything is, and I'm like it's decent but I'm not coming back. My dad agreed, and what's crazy is that the tip suggestions start at 18% and up. I by default go to 20% and go down depending on the service but this is not a place that deserves 18%. The only positives from this meal is getting to see my parents and getting parking validated. They won't offer to do it if you don't ask. The only time the owner offered something without us asking was when we asked for the check, he was like do you want to go boxes? Because the owner is so relaxed, it sets the tone for the rest of the staff to not even try, you set the standards. This sounds mean but they shouldn't be in business. Most small business owners I talk to treat their business like their baby, it's their life's passion, and you can tell that this isn't the owner's passion.

It may not look like a great restaurant but the food is solid for sure. The price point is reasonable too. We enjoyed most of the dishes we ordered, shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, taro silk tofu skin roll, creamy egg yolk bun, and bbq port bun. The only dish we didn't like as much is steamed beef rice crepe.

Located in Chicago Chinatown, mayflower is a restaurant that serves solid dim sum. I went around lunch time on a Sunday, and it was busy. The establishment was filled with locals, and it was loud as people were conversing over the food. There are too many dishes to go over, but here are 3 things that were good during this visit: 1. Loh Mai Fan, sticky rice: it's fried style (rather than steamed) and has peanuts.2. Lo Bak Go, turnip cake: crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. 3. Wu Gok, Crispy taro puff: crispy outside filled with taro and meat on the inside. It isn't the fanciest, but it's relatively inexpensive for going out for dim sum. If you're in Chinatown, check this place out if you're looking for a good place for dim sum.

Service is horrible. Came in and had to wait 10 minutes until someone stood up to help us. After waiting a while, they came to help but since we ordered to go but decided to eat in A lady came over and said I had to pay mandatory tip fove dollars and grabbed my receipt and forced me to add give dollars. Wanted to leave but my partner was really hungry and couldn't wait. If not for him, I would've left Too bad we already paid

Food - we ordered pepper salt fried pork, salty chicken fried rice and pork intestines with spicy sauce.Ambiance - brightly lit with lots of tables and a wall with mirrors. There are fish tanks in the front displaying your food before they serve to you.Service - our waiter came back and told us the pork intestines aren't available. He gave us a menu to see if we waited something else and walked away. He didn't come back around for over five minutes. When we flagged him down he waved us off and went to do something else. Another five minutes later he came around, we flagged him down and he waved us off again. He came back out with a bowl of dessert for a table of ten and proceeded to fill ten small bowls with it and served the other table. A few minutes again he then came to our table, we asked for a different dish and he says it's also not available. The next try with another dish it was available. When our dishes came out he didn't automatically bring white rice of which this is usually what they do when you order a dish. In this case we ordered two dishes so we should have gotten four white rice cups. We've been here so many times, countless. We've don't recall being treated this poorly and it was always our number one spot. If I could give the waiter zero stars I would.

Food was dry, workers were kind, and the place was clean with a giant tv with music, and they delivered the food quickly.

The food was absolutely amazing. We tried a variety of items and everything was fantastic. Crab Rangoon's, generals chicken, sweet and sour chicken and many more items. Service may not be top of the line but who cares. They get your order, bring your drinks and follow that up quickly with hot huge portions of food. They are busy and not trying to impress anyone with small talk. Smells a bit fishy when you first walk in which worried our daughter but one you make it out of the airlock the smell goes away. They do have a few fish tanks when you first walk in so the smell is expected. Not the cleanest bathrooms but they will allow you to do your business. Gotta try this place!
