Chicken parmesan hoagie. Pretty good!
Shrimp appetizer $16. Too salty and more of a braised, soupy consistency rather than "skillet roasted"
Coal oven and pizza chef

I loved the design and interior of this restaurant. Tables are spaced out enough that you have privacy. Our server was quick to take our drink order and leave menus. After tasting our Coke, it was flat, so she easily changed it out for iced tea. There are pizzas, appetizers, salads and a few sandwiches. I settled on a meatball hoagie with chips. The sandwich came quickly and was a nice size. The bun was toasted nicely and the sandwich was nice and hot. The meatballs were good and I loved the sauce and cheese. Good choice! Our server, and sadly I don't remember her name, was fantastic.

Meh food. Sat at the bar and fruit flies everywhere. Wouldn't say good or bad. Just wouldn't want flies all around my face while eating.

Here's the deal: it's GREAT!I come here once a year while I'm in town for a conference and Max's is my place. For those saying that workers are rude- they make pizza, not sit around thinking about how to make you feel warm and fuzzy. It's excellent pizza.

I came on a rainy Saturday in September during lunch hours. It wasn't crowded when we got there but became so. I am used to the ingredients on wood fired pizzas being very melted in the pizza and very cooked. Ours were very much on top and veggies were crunchy. Wood fired pizzas could be different depending on cities- I'm not sure but I wouldn't have considered this a usual wood fired consistency.

Have to say, I was a bit disappointed in this pizza place. Went there to order to-go and waited about 15 minutes for our food, which is understandable given it's made fresh. The restaurant seemed clean and about half full for a Saturday night. We ordered the margherita pizza and were disappointed to find only a smattering of basil leaves and not enough sauce on a really light dough. For $18 I'd say to skip this place unless you are ok with the portion/topping/price ratio.

Cool place slinging up some pretty good food with a coal oven. Service was super good and friendly. They have a limited bar but enough of everything you probably want. The chicken parm was pretty good. Chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and covered in cheese. The sauce and pasta itself could be better. But a good portion. The pizzas are 12" and super thin crust. And the crust has a bit of char on them. Really really good. Now, given they aren't big pizzas but not personal sized, how many to order? In my youth I'd easily eat a whole pizza and maybe an app. In my old age, me the wife split one which was plenty. I would think if you're 30 and up, an app and 1 pie per 2 people would be perfect. The pizza itself had great flavor. Loved the sauce, the crust, and the cheese. There were 2 issues keeping it from being awesome. One as you can see, there's just not enough cheese on it. Love the authentic coins of cheese that are allowed to melt into everything. But it was uneven and just needed more. Next, the fresh basil was also great for a pop of flavor. But again, needed way more basil. There was one leaf on maybe half the slices. So the pizza, which is the star anyway, could be awesome with just a bit more ingredients on it. Maybe other pies are better. But there's no place to hide on a Margherita pizza!

Pretty cool little spot in downtown Atlanta. It's a smaller venue but the pizza was delicious (full on fantastic pizza from the first gooey bite to the crust!!!) They also have some local craft brews that are spot on, especially for a warm afternoon in October. Try the Mucha Lucha, their Mexican lager. It should be bottled and sold because it puts Dos XX to absolute shame! They were super busy so the service was just OK but they were hustling and you can't beat a great pizza coupled with a yummy beer. Well done! Cheers to you Max, cheers to you .

My family of four had lunch here after touring the World of Coke. It's a short walk. We got seated right away. The service was excellent! The pizza came out at different times but quickly. We shared 3 pizzas and a chopped Italian salad. The salad was so good! Full of veggies, olives and a delicious simple Italian dressing. It's simple inside with a pizza joint feel.

Great food! Pizza and apps were excellent. Pizza was unique, not a Neapolitan crust, more like Milwaukee tavern (cracker like) style, but still had the nice char on the edge of hi temp oven. The tradizionale was amazing! And the service was excellent, everyone we interacted with was top notch! Highly recommend this place.
