Maui Wowie Shack

Until I saw some recent reviews, I didn't realize that the previous Cheba Hut had been converted to this new eatery. Maui Wowie Shack has taken over and brought tropical decor to the suite. The space was adorned with a mix of Christmas holiday items and surfing paraphernalia. No permanent signage has been mounted yet outside the building. There was only one party seated when I arrived. I would say there was adequate seating for about 40 customers.The menu didn't reflect the business name at all as I saw no items that had a connection with Maui or anything Hawaiian. The offerings were those you would find at a coastal snack shack like nachos, pretzels, hot dogs, and sandwiches. Three sizes of sandwiches were available which included an unheard of four inches. The smallest at any other place would be a six-inch serving size.Of the preset combinations, I picked a Paulies Club on eight-inch wheat bread because sourdough was unavailable. The ingredients were roast beef, ham, salami, provolone, lettuce, seasoned tomatoes, and pesto aioli. It turned out to be an open-faced sandwich split in half. The meats were warmed up with the cheese melted on top. The quality of the ingredients was average for a $10+ price tag. The service from the worker staffing the cashier was fine as he was amicable and helpful.

I went to this place when they first opened and had a bad experience. I didn't go back for several months, but thought I'd try this place again.I got the Big Tony, which isn't a traditional Italian sub, but it's big and tasty. Good sandwich, good service. Nothing to complain about.

It was okay I guess. Walked in thinking it was still Cheba Hut (which I really enjoyed) and was confused seeing all the menu item names change. The sub was really dry and took a long time to make. They kept a lot of what made Cheba unique (the theme, MJ names) but didn't seem to keep any of the flavor. My girlfriend also found hair in her order and we noticed there were a few workers letting their hair down without any hats or covers. I'll definitely be passing on this for next time.

This place needs to do a better job training their employees. Slimy lettuce for the salad (I'm gluten free), missing items, items added that we specifically didn't want on the sandwiches. When I asked for the cheese for my salad she melted it and gave it to me. I was too stunned at this point to even say anything.

It's a new sandwich shop working out kinks. I live around the corner and stop by often. Great specialty subs if your into that.

Got the Big Tony sandwich a couple of days ago and i cannot stop thinking about it. This place just opened but my friends recommended it and personally prefer this place over subway. Customer service was really attentive and friendly. Great Job!!!

Great place, still very new so they're still getting settled in, but they have some of the best specialty sandwiches. Definitely would recommend the Big Tony, also the worker who made it for me, Morgan, was very nice and made me a great sandwich.

I believe they are a new small local business. This place was very convenient for a quick sandwich. Took less than 15 mins for my order to be given to me and the staff was super friendly. Will definitely keep supporting. (:

Walked in, told to get cash cause system wasn't working, walked back in after getting cash, said they wouldn't serve my and didn't care I had cash anymore. Place sucksssssss
