Matisse Tavern & Grill

I've lived in Lakeview for 3.5 years, and I'm sad I didn't give this place a shot until now! From their location across the street from Trader Joe's, I've seen Matisse, but it wasn't until I saw a TikTok video about their martinis that I decided to pop in for a visit.The patio is a great size and romantic with the twinkly lights. We asked to sit inside due to humidity, and every member of the staff and very friendly. We sat at the bar, and the bartender immediately explained their menu. The staff noticed we were mainly watching the Olympics on the TV at the other end of the bar instead of whatever was in the TV in front of us, and they changed the channel for us!We ordered a French 75 and a Pimm's Cup, and both were very good!! I would definitely go back, and everyone seemed to be enjoying their evening!

Met up with some friends from Chicago for dinner here and had a great time! We checked in on the Yelp app for a free shot to start the meal and the servers were all great - even bringing us another shot at the end of our meal "for the road." The drinks were excellent - I got a Saint Matisse (I love anything elderflower) which was refreshing and well balanced but on the sweeter side. Everyone else got beers - no matter your taste, there are plenty of options. The wonton appetizer (featured on some TV show) was actually my least favorite part of the meal but was still excellent. Definitely on the spicier side but pretty tasty! I got the rosemary chicken and really enjoyed it - the chicken was well cooked and portioned, and the veggies tasted fresh. A got a burger that he enjoyed and I had some of his fries, which were delicious! During the meal, it was busy but not packed and the music was a perfect volume. We also spent a while after our meal chatting and never felt like we were being rushed out, which I appreciated.

The first time I ordered the Mac and cheese it was delicious. This time around it took several attempts to place my order over the phone. It's Saturday night so maybe it's busy...I go pickup my food, there are no customers and the staff was sitting around. The quality of my food this time was terrible. It was flavorless, dry, the spinach thrown over the pasta and the steak was barely visible considering they charge an extra $8 for it. If they did not want to cook they could have said, "kitchen closed" instead of taking my order and given me poorly done food.

This was my first time here and I will be back! We sat outside and the patio was enjoyable and clean. The service was amazing -- everyone was so nice and accommodating. They are known for their cocktails, and the Moscow Mule was the best I've ever had! We also ordered the Mac n Cheese and the Sweet Precision and Soft Collision burger. Both were fantastic and I'm eager to try more of their food.

Great food vibe and drinks are amazing! Price is decent parking rough! Highly recommend this place. So effin good sat at the bar and loved it! Small and delicious but worth it!

Excellent service by the whole staff, especially Carmen. Tasty food, delivered hot and in a timely manner. The bartender was friendly, helpful and talented. A cute spot.

What an absolute gem. We were greeted and seated quickly. The food (fish tacos) was fantastic and the Moscow Mule did not disappoint. The owner converses with the guests and certainly made me feel extremely welcome.

We were looking to stop somewhere after our concert and this bar was the perfect place. It's downstairs in a cozy little setting. The staff is super tentative to you and always make sure you have everything you need. The food was amazing and the prices were really decent for being in Chicago. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy place to stop.
