I recently discovered a café in Mira Mesa and couldn't wait to check it out. My mom and I were excited to try their soft serve ice cream, though we were a bit apprehensive about the Matcha and Ube flavors. We decided to give it a shot and got a cup with Matcha, Ube, Strawberry, and Vanilla soft serve ice creams.First off, I must say that the people at the counter were really sweet and provided sample flavors to help us make up our minds. The presentation of the ice cream exceeded my expectations; it was well put together. I also appreciated that they had games to play while enjoying the ice cream. My mom and I played Jenga, making our visit even more enjoyable.Another important point is that the soft serve is not overly sweet, making it a perfect dessert. It's very light and not too heavy on the stomach. I'll definitely be going back to this place and highly recommend checking it out.

I came in here on a hot summer day for a Yelp event. They were offering a soft serve or a drink. We were greeted quickly when we entered, but the first thing I noticed was the lack of air conditioning. Either they don't have it or it wasn't on, regardless it was very warm. I ordered for the Ube/Vanilla Swirl cone, my son wanted a plain vanilla cone. The wait was about 5 minutes but we were presented with very large cones. I will say, you can tell this is a freshly made cone. The smell is intoxicating, is tasty, and crunchy. The only downside is the cone was not rolled closed at the bottom so within a few minutes, my soft serve was leaking through the paper cone at the bottom and I had to use multiple napkins to try and stop the mess. Overall the soft serve was great, just needs to be rolled closed on the bottom and AC would be great in the summer. I would definitely return for more.

I was craving an iced matcha latte on this hot summer day. Unfortunately the experience was very poor. As soon as I entered the shop, I placed my order with one of the kiosks and was given an estimated wait time of 12 minutes. There was a tip option which I thought was weird as you're ordering the drink yourself through a kiosk and had no interactions with the employees. Anyways, there were three employees crafting food and drinks in the kitchen. There were several other people waiting for their food and drinks so I took a seat and waited. I waited over 20 minutes for my one drink which I thought was ridiculous. On top of that, a computerized system announced my order and my drink was simply sitting on the counter waiting to be picked up. No one apologized for the wait time or thanked customers for their patience. I saw several other people being annoyed by the wait times too. Grabbed my own straw and napkins. Just zero customer service.The tables and floors were sticky and unkept. And the ac didn't seem to be turned on fully so it was hot and stuffy while I waited. To top it off, my drink tasted poorly made. All sugar and could barely taste the authentic matcha that this shop uses. I wish they're more consistent with the drinks and the wait times aren't 20 minutes long.

Not to be that person, but we stopped in here today 8/15 for matcha floats. ( I should mention we stopped in to the other location in Kearny Mesa first, but they didn't have matcha powder???? so they couldn't make it?? So we drove over here for the floats because it was a serious craving) and we ordered our floats only to be told there was no more matcha. Again. Even though we were in a new location. Are you freaking kidding me!? I know things happen, but if matcha is in your name how do you run out? Okay. I let it go. I order ube instead which was really good, but it's not what I came for. So my craving wasn't satisfied.

Had a wonderful experience trying out this cafe. Their lattes and soft serve are so good.I tried their famous matcha strawberry swirl and it was good, rich and smooth consistency. It is good place to visit and beat the summer heat with lot of options available.They also decorated pretty nice, feels good to sit down and eat, gives me old student type feeling.

Great service and above and beyond in terms of thoughtfulness, I would say this is up to par with many of the chains with the variety of flavors and combinations that you can get.I love how they have a waitlist with times and as you wait for your soft serve or drink order, you can see how long it is. Welcoming space with lots of games and fair amount of seating.

Does it live up to the hype? Yes... for the most part : DI love matcha-flavored treats, so I finally made the jump to try this place out. I asked my friend to pick out our drinks, and she chose the Matcha and Hojicha frappes. For more context, I ordered my drinks at 50% sweetness.The Matcha Frappe - Honestly, there is nothing too special about this drink. The drink did the job of a matcha beverage, hitting those earthy matcha notes with the sweet milkiness that comes with matcha lattes. But for the theme of this cafe to be matcha, I was hoping for it to be just a tad bit more special. It is however a bit better than most other places' matcha drinks. The Hojicha Frappe - Wow this drink was it! I was thoroughly impressed by the toasted matcha flavor. The drink was malty, earthy, rich, and nutty. I can see how this flavor can be different than what people are used to when it comes to matcha (and in general with Asian-based drinks for the SD area), but the flavor is simply delicious. The drink is complex in flavor notes while delivering a refreshing, exciting, and tasty finish. I do not see many (if at all for this area) places offering this flavor, making Matcha Cafe Maiko a bit more special than other places. 10/10! The space is cozy, and there is a solid amount of tables for people to enjoy their drinks or do some work. I'll be adding this spot to locations where I can get homework done. The wall decor is cute and does a fantastic job of giving this place some character compared to other cafes. Their menu is expansive, and I've been told their ice cream is a must try. I will for sure be stopping by to try some after my excellent experience with the toasted matcha drink. While my matcha drink didn't deliver as I had hoped, the Hojicha drink and comforting-yet-cute ambiance of the place elevated my experience to a great one. 4.5 rounded up to a 5!

Lots of desserts options. Love that you can order from the two kiosk or at the counter. Can fit about 25 people in the small shop but lots of outdoor tables. Waffle was good, soft serve cone leaked quickly but the ice cream was on point. The best seller was a mix of everything.. ice cream, cereal, read bean, mochi, chestnut, pound cake, jelly.. I'm sure I must of missed an ingredient or two haha it's nice to have all the different flavors and texture. Love the convenient of how the screen displayed the order number and where you are in line. Text system is also helpful if you're waiting outside. Board games helped to keep littles occupied while we wait for the order to be ready.

Matcha Cafe Maiko is one of my favorite chains for soft serve matcha flavored ice cream. I really enjoy the bold matcha flavor. I was really happy to find out that there's a branch in the Mira Mesa mall.I ordered the Maiko Jelly Parfait and my boyfriend got the Maiko Special with a side of boba. These 2 desserts were huge! We each got a medium and are now curious how big a large one is! I guess we'll have to upgrade the size next time! This is a nice place to hang out. They have lots of comfy tables & chairs that's good for large groups. They have a variety of board games that you could play why you enjoyed your treats.Service was quick and friendly. We'll be back!

Our fave halo halo spot in Mira Mesa shutdown so we found this place that has halo halo close enough to my fave halo halo My gf loves matcha so this works out so well.Parking ampleSmall spot it was a hot day but for some reason there was no ac or ventilation here not sure why It was crowned too But overall we found a table we were able to enjoy our treats You have to order in a kiosk but service was fast enough did not wait long but took a while to order coz the people b4 us was taking forever at the kiosk not the establishments fault
