I've had this place bookmarked for a while now and was excited to finally check out a local breakfast spot. Unfortunately, it was a pretty crummy experience from the moment we walked in. Our party of two arrived to find a mostly full restaurant where nearly everyone looked as though they had just been seated. Lots of full tables, not much food. That probably should have been our first clue something was up. From what we could tell, there were two servers working the dining room and one person cooking. While it's not a big place, this led to seriously delays in everyone receiving their orders. I'm not sure if they had a call out because it's hard to imagine a breakfast place having one cook on a Sunday morning. For the food, I ordered the eggs benedict and my wife opted for the waffle combo. After an hour of waiting, our food arrived and it was just so-so. Too much sauce on the benedict, hash browns tasted like they hadn't been seasoned and were a bit dry. I appreciated that the eggs were cooked properly. My wife felt like her bacon was old and the coffee was watery and un-drinkable. It's easy to be flexible with a restaurant having a bad day if they just communicate as such. Unfortunately our server never made any mention of being short staffed or any notification or acknowledgement of the delay in food. I give restaurants a lot of grace, but this was so disappointing and we won't be back.

The coffee was undrinkable. It tasted like the instant coffee you can make in a hotel room - watered down and flavorless. Service was slooooooowwwww. It took us about an hour to get our food. Maybe people called out and it was a bad day for them, but just acknowledging that would have been nice so we weren't left hanging. If you are too short-handed to handle a full restaurant, don't fill it, or at least warn people. We didn't even get an apology when the food was dropped or when we paid. Atmosphere felt a bit awkward. The tables are very close together and there was no background music to drown out the other conversations. The food was very mediocre. I had a waffle combo and while the waffle was good, my eggs were cold, and bacon tasted like it was cooked yesterday and reheated. My partner had eggs benedict. He said it was fine but the plate was covered with too much sauce. His hash browns were flavorless and had no seasoning. Such a shame as we were looking forward to eating here based on the reviews, but we were really let down.

We've been here years ago. It's only down the street from our house. We do have our favorite places to go but at the hour we went most places weren't open yet. So since we couldn't sleep anymore why not get breakfast, then go back to sleep hahaha. Seemed liked a lot of retired people frequent this place. Service was fine, the food just takes a while to come out. We realized by the time we waited and got our food, the place we really wanted to have breakfast at would've opened already. Most likely because only one person cooking in the back. At least that's what it looks like anyways. Place looks a bit dated. The food was ok. Min was fine. It was the light meal with one pancake, one egg, two sausage. My hubby had chicken fried steak two eggs and had hash browns. He didn't t care for this dish too much

The chicken fried steak was so good here! I got to say it is my top 3 I ever had. The hash browns was cooked really well and the wheat bread was so tasty! I know it seems very simple but everything was so yummy. Service is a bit slow but it helps you actually slow down and enjoy your morning. Definitely recommend.

I've been hearing about this place for years (It's a frequent finalist or winner of "Best of Kent" for breakfast) and finally found an excuse to meet a friend here for brunch. We came on a Monday holiday around 11 am, there were a few other tables occupied but there was no wait. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the coffee was hot, strong, and frequently refilled. I had the South of the Border omelet which comes with ground beef, cheddar, black olives, sour cream, and green onions, but because it was Meatless Monday, I opted to forgo the beef. The omelet was delicious and I chose a bowl of fruit instead of hashbrowns (although the hashbrowns look great!). My friend got a BLT and potato salad. The potato salad was made fresh that day and was very tasty. A man at a table near me had pancakes and I was envious, thinking "Next time I getting pancakes!" The prices are a little high ($20 for an omelet, is that the going rate these days?) but the portions were very big and I am happy to support a locally owned business.

This is hard. I love supporting small businesses. Overall 3.5, maybe 3.75 rating. The food- was excellent. Easily 5 starsThe service, I'm struggling with this. We were greeted and seated quickly. We were brought menus and waited. Waited some more. Others came in and were seated. Now the place was hopping and I can only see two servers. The gal who greeted us was constantly moving. Remember those people were seated after us- they had their orders taken. We waited probably 15 +minutes and I began to look up other options when I overhear the gal who greeted us point out to the other sever that we've been waiting. Finally, our table is approached. Success Orders placed. Now, I know from reading reviews that it does take a bit longer than usual got orders to arrive after being placed. I won't lie, it did take a little longer to get out food even if I exclude the long wait yo even place an order. This is a small business and it was busy. The food arrives and it was so very good. The Café omelette was fluffy and delicious. It had bacon and avocado and cheese and sour cream - yum Other members of the table had a Denver omelette, pancake with bacon and egg. Im happy to say they were all quite pleased with their breakfast Would I eat here again? I would but I'd order take out. Mary's is a small strip mall diner. Nothing fancy - but I find the food is usually very good.

This family-owned restaurant really does holds the "Best in Kent" for breakfast. Knowing that it's a small business, makes you want to support them even more. The service was amazing and really makes you feel welcomed. We ordered the chicken fried steak and the eggs benedict. The portion size is big so you'll definitely walk out full and happy. Highly recommend!

I have been to this restaurant 4 times and it is a must stop if I am in the area. The food is always consistently good. The dining room is clean for an older building in need of a remodel. The servers have just enough crisp to remind you of an old Route 66 truck stop.
