Pre-meal: Reservations advised. Valet parking - street parking in Pilsner is horrible!Room: Colorful, bright, noisy.Picture-taking: Good lighting.Beverages: Good selection of cocktails and wine. The Michelada comes with an oyster and was delicious for the first 3 sips but then was just too watered down due the ice.Menu: A lot to choose from! The focus is clearly seafood - our waiter helped us steer through the options.Food: Everything was pretty good, a few things were very memorable. The oysters come several different ways but my favorite were the oyster tacos - big ones, deep fried in cornmeal on house made corn tortillas with some yummy stuff. Soft shelled crab tacos feature crab battered in mole and fried - delicious! The whole dorade is wood- fired and served with tortillas and condiments - very nice. The Hokkaido scallop aguachile features a delicious pineapple aguachile that is so good you forget there are actually scallops in there. Desserts were ok - the granizado was very refreshing. The flan was denser than I like.Service: Good. The pacing is a bit off. Nothing but waiting then a bunch of stuff comes out at the same time.Price: $$$Value: 2.7 out of 10Summary: Very good Mexican seafood and fun atmosphere.

A lot of hype behind this spot - rightfully so as the chefs of Le Bouchon and Chingon are spearheading this venture. What can I say? A lot of beautiful dishes but with that some misses. First and foremost the staff was amazing. Our server was attentive, kind, and helpful. A hyped dish that I was disappointed with was the octopus hotdog (not pictured). Some wheels don't need to be reinvented. As the case with the bacon wrapped - octopus, brioche bun hotdog. Over promised and under delivered. Don't skip on the snapper ceviche. Such a well thought out dish that makes you excited for the rest of your meal. The "masa" dishes were outstanding. The taco, the quesadilla, and the tamal reminded me of the beautiful things Chingon is doing. The most utilitarian dish on the and the one I'm coming back for are the mussels. Great meal after a long day at work. Have it by the bar accompanied by a cold one. Skip the Michelada. I appreciate the attempt to refine the drink with the oyster garnish but it takes away a Miche's identity. It was a pretty girl's birthday so we ordered a lot. The grand total, including a 20% tip and two Miche's, was $206. Didn't bother getting more cocktails as we had a bottle of wine and some aperitifs beforehand. Would have liked to try some of their curated cocktails but we'll leave that for next time. All in all a good addition for the ever "developing" Pilsen neighborhood.

My review may be premature being that I merely had one drink & one entree but those two items were pretty damn good. Once I learned this place were from the same behind Obelix & it's in the prime location of Pilsen I knew I had to indulge. My old fashioned was stiff yet well balanced & my entree although on the lighter side it had some big & bold flavors. Get here before word gets out

We had a lovely evening here on Saturday night. It was only their second day in business but service was tight and the food was excellent. We sat at the chefs counter and it was fun to watch the food being prepped. We enjoyed the oysters, both the classic and the ones with a passionfruit granita, the tuna tostada was great and the soft shelled crab tacos were awesome. The cocktails were very good and we thoroughly enjoyed a nice bottle of cava. Highly recommended.

Timely and friendly service and AMAZING food. As a foodie, I love checking out what's new and happening on the Chicago food scene, but Mariscos blows me out of the water. The mussels are to die for, and the blue comacaron is a uniquely delicious take on a classic dessert. I have never had anything like it. We will be back!

Much work needs to be done if Mariscos San Pedro expects to approach the quality of the old (pre-COVID) Dusek's. From what I ordered (all described below), most of the food was mediocre, but (frustratingly) a few dishes were close to being very good. Below is a list of the dishes I ordered, from best to worst:1. Octopus Sonoran Dog: This dish is very close to being excellent. The idea of combining a lobster-roll-style bun with a Mexican bean spread was great, and the semi-pickled pepper mix is delicious. BUT, the first descriptor of the dish is "Bacon", which no one could taste, and the second is "Octopus", which you would only notice from the texture. This dish needs work (the octopus and bacon probably need to be replaced).2. Tuna Tostada (with Otoro Tuna): The tuna was high-quality, but everything else didn't mesh and was unimpressive, especially considering the total cost of $33, for a tostada.3. Snapper Ceviche: This was decent. Nothing special, but decent.4. Drinks: The Almost Famous Milk Punch and Tinto de Verano were very well done; the other drinks we tried were unremarkable. 5. Tamal Con Mole: The mole was excellent and the duck and tamal were great, independently. The combination of the two made zero sense. 6. Taco Oysters: Couldn't taste the oysters; otherwise unremarkable.7. Baja Fish Taco: The cod tasted frozen and the slaw lacked vinegar; it also should have included some lime in the mix. 8. Achiote Butter Oysters: Not worth eating. The oysters are low quality, and you can barely taste them through the bland sauce mix they're cooked in.9. Sauces: The table comes with three sauces: a black sauce, a red sauce, and a green sauce. The two red sauces are very smoky and would be good with certain meat dishes, BUT MAKE NO SENSE with seafood dishes. The green sauce occasionally works with the food on the menu, but is subpar (a much better option would be El Yucateco). The reason I have spent so much time writing this review is that I sincerely hope Mariscos San Pedro works through the kinks in its menu and becomes a restaurant on par with the other restaurants in the neighborhood.

Had no idea what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised with the operation they have going on here! The food was delicious. They sat us outside on the patio, which was enjoyable. The Dorade was some of the best fish I've had - they had two different seasonings on each half of the fish, it was all deboned and filleted and the seasonings were very clearly different, but delicious. Their salsas were next level, and would also highly recommend the mussels and fries! It comes with fresh bread which was perfect for dipping in the curry sauce. Would definitely come here again in a heartbeat!

I visited Mariscos San Pedro for the first time this evening and I had a great experience. I was seated at the chef's counter, so was able to observe the food being prepared, which was very cool. I started my dinner with the Cafe De Olla Martini, which was their version of an espresso martini. It was decent, but I wouldn't order it again. Next, I tried the Baja Fish Taco. To go with the taco, the server brought out a trio of salsas. I tried the avocado based salsa on the taco and it was delicious! The fried cod was perfectly crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. For my entree I ordered the Mussels and Fries, a standout dish! An ample serving of mussels in a flavorful broth, you dump your fries into the broth and scoop some fries onto your fork along with the meat from inside the mussels; amazing . I made sure to leave room for dessert, as suggested by my server. I'm glad I did because the Mexican Chocolate Lava Cake was divine! Served with a scoop of ice cream, it was a perfect balance of sweet and savory. I recommend trying Mariscos San Pedro if you like Mexican inspired seafood. I can see this becoming a regular dinner spot for me.
