Almost $40 for a dozen. Unfortunately, $40 gone to waste. Although these were fried fresh and the filling added upon order, execution was all bad. The texture of the donut was too dense and chewy. Donut should have been fluffier and more delicate. The filling, or rather lack of it, was lackluster and really had no flavor. I tasted the ube and the custard as they are my favorites. I do not like overly sweet fillings, but these fillings just lacked flavor. The filling most likely was overpowered by the dense, semi-dry donut. Don't be so cheap with the filling next time.

Manuela Malasada & Coffee Co., is the new hot spot located in a strip mall National City off Plaza Blvd. Parking can be challenging at times depending when you go as there are many other business in the same location. It's a MUST to try this location out! I believe this spot used to be HomeStyle Hawaiian and I'm hearing the rumor that the wife of the owner of HomeStyle Hawaiian is running this business. She is doing everything RIGHT when it comes to these malasadas!! Watch out Mochinut...cause Malasadas are taking over the block! Customer service was good. Malasadas were made fresh to order! Ours came out piping hot and stuffed with the fillings we chose. According to the cashier they've only been open for about a month. They have lots of flavors to choose from as well as a flavor of the month. They are not cheap but, they are worth every penny! It's the quality not the quantity with this place and the quality is top notch! Side note...they ONLY ACCEPT CASH!We ordered a 6pk and it was around $18 and some change. We ordered 3 regular and 3 filled and they are huge in size. I think it was like $1 extra for the filled ones.We had:3 regular malasadas (sugar coated) - AMAZINGNutella filled - AMAZINGCreme brulee filled - AMAZINGLilikoi filled - Not a fan honestly on this flavorWe will definitely be back to try all their different flavors!

Growing up on Oahu, I'm used to Leonards' or Kamehameha bakery malasada where the dough is light and airy. These are nothing like them, which isn't a bad thing, just not what I expected. These are more dense in texture. They are good fresh, but after a few hours, gets kinda stale. I had the ube cheesecake, Haupia, and guava filling. The Huapia and guava tastes like its namesake, but the ube cheesecake didn't have much ube flavor to them. Great staff and customer service. Don't expect to pick up and go if you're in a hurry, wait time is around 15-20 minutes as they are cooked to order.

First time here today . The Malasadas are amazing and remind of the ones I have when I go to Maui. My new go to spot for Malasadas. I had to wait for a bit, but they were so worth it. Hot , fresh , and delicious. Next time I'll try the coffee and other food items. Highly recommend for delicious fresh Malasadas!!!

CONGRATULATIONS on your soft opening, we absolutely love supporting local businesses. Parking in the front and back. Location is near some awesome businesses, some are established and some are growing, I love me a one stop spot. TITA'S kitchenette (delicious Filipino food), a Filipino market called Island Pacific, a barbershop called Creative studios, a T-Mobile, a pet grooming place, and a bunch of other small businesses that's been there for years. I love the diversity of desserts in this plaza. They have so many options and it's all in one shopping center. Malasadas are one of my favs, I always binge Leonard's when I go to Hawaii, but being here on the mainland you can't always find malasadas. I'm super excited to see you guys thrive!Service is super friendly, you can tell it's a family owned shop. Which I absolutely love. They also offered a free malasada because it was their soft opening. Don't forget to hit the ATM before you go, because they are CASH ONLY* not sure if that will change in the future. Some friends and I shared a box, so we could all try different flavors but it just wasn't enough. My only vise, we were kinda sad that the malasadas were a bit deceiving, they are beautiful and they look filled with love and joy but the quantity of the filling was a bit disappointing. It was basically eating powdered bread. We had Nutella, creme brulee, Bavarian creme, lilikoi, and ube cream cheese. They were soft and doughy. And some had more flavors than others. But this place definitely has potential, being this is just a soft opening, I will back & I can't wait to see what else they'll have in store for the future.
