I recently visited Mangos Caribbean Restaurant, a Jamaican eatery that I had been eager to try. My experience was a mix of highs and lows, warranting a 3.6-star rating. Our server, Anita, was clearly busy and had a lot going on. Despite her best efforts, the service was slow, especially when it came to our appetizer. We ordered two patties, one veggie and one curry chicken. Unfortunately, it took 45 minutes for the curry chicken patties to be ready, and we never got to taste the veggie patties. For my main meal, I ordered a large plate to go, with Jerk Chicken, rice & peas, and plantains. The food was delicious and definitely the highlight of the experience. The Jerk Chicken was flavorful and well-seasoned, the rice & peas were perfectly cooked, and the plantains added a nice touch of sweetness. However, the restaurant's ambiance left much to be desired. There was no air conditioning and very little air circulation, making it uncomfortable to dine in. If you plan to visit, be prepared for a warm environment.Overall, while the food at Mangos Caribbean Restaurant is worth trying, the slow service and lack of air conditioning significantly impacted my dining experience.

Lady at front counter was very nice. However, I ordered rice and peas($5.25), and received a half order of pease and rice. When she looked at it, and new that it was unacceptable. She added more, when I went to eat it- it was cold and crunchy, not savory AT ALL.They have no pride in the appearance nor taste of the food. Even the container was dirty. We were thoroughly disappointed.

Mangos serves up some really god Jamaican food and this place plays some really good Jamaican music. Wait times for food can be a bit long. Food is made fresh to order. Parking is on the street. Dining in is also an option but I would personally take the food to go. The brown stew chicken was on point!! The area is not that great but I would still recommend Mangos for that good Jamaican food fix.

An ATL local recommended this place and is located on Auburn Ave right down the street from the Martin Luther King Jr National Park. It's a great stop to fill up after visiting the park. For us it was a toss up between the ox tail or curry goat, but we ended up ordering the curry goat large and a jerk chicken pattie. The large curry goat was a big portion and definitely enough for two people. This dish does have bones so be aware of that. It comes with sides of rice & beans, greens, and sweet plantains. This dish was really good. The curry was flavorful and rice complimented the dish. The plantains were also nice. The only disappointment was the jerk chicken pattie. It was super dry and not very much meat. Each bite had to be followed with water because your saliva would dry out, so I don't recommend the patties!Plenty of seating inside with friendly waitstaff, however they play really loud music blasting from the speakers so don't expect to carry on a lengthy conversation without yelling! Also the menu says lunch special is until 3 PM, but when we tried ordering that the waitress said it ended at 2 PM and it says there is free WiFi, but none of the staff knew the password so I guess that is all fake news!Regardless, the food was great and I would return in a heartbeat!

Popped my head into this spot after being next door at M Bar for an event. I love Caribbean food so it was an easy 'yes' when I saw the Jamaican flags in the window. When I walked in, it was so dim that they could have easily been mistaken as closed for the day. But they were actually serving about 7 customers, not including me. Pretty good for a weekday early evening. I wasn't super hungry, moreso, greedy. So I didn't opt for a large dish, as tempting as they were as I perused the menu. The line was moving briskly as it seemed that most guests were waiting around for their plated entrees. Once I was called up to the cashier, I decided to keep it simple and go for a beef patty, coco bread and champagne kola. Always a favorite, simple combo of mine. Less than 5 minutes after ordering, I was called back up and given a hot, huge piece of cocoa bread, a warm beef patty from the display case and I grabbed an ice-cold champagne kola from the fridge. I decided to take a seat and enjoy my food as the coco bread smelled too good to hold off on. Lucky for me, there was a bunch of seating and every other guest was standing and waiting. Upon first glance, I saw that the patty was quite thin but kept pushing. Once I put my patty in the bread (a must), it looked very sad compared to the thick piece of sweet bread. The coco bread was amazingggg, always a fave of mine. But man, there was like, no beef in the patty. :( I was bummed because the flavor was really there! But it could have used 3x more filling to make it a real treat. Although a 3 - 3.5 star experience for me right now, I'll go back one day and try them again and opt for an entree. :)

It's probably a ATL thing but $22 fi salt fish with a dash of ackee is wild business. The food was good but slightly at room temperature which made it less YUM! Patty is a must get but clearly it didn't make the photo op.

The food was very tasty! They offer lunch specials so check the website for the exact hours but the portion size was more than enough to enjoy. The jerk chicken was juicy & spicy. Everything was fresh & authentic. The curry chicken patty was good as well. The inside of the restaurant appeared to be like a typical Jamaican restaurant with music playing but the lighting was pretty low. I would get the food to go next time.

Such a yummy combination of bold flavors and spice. Eating the jerk shrimp felt like a burst of spices in your mouth at the perfect proportions. I wish the rice had more peas and they added a good proportion of sweet plantains, but I had never had the sweet cabbage and wasn't expecting for it to blend so perfectly with the dish. It's a little on the heavy side in terms of oil, but it's a hidden flavor gem. The restaurant itself is not pretty, and is questionably empty during the day, but you can order takeout or eat with some friends in one of their dimly lit booths.

The service was awful. Waited over an hour to get my food while watching other people who ordered way after me receive their food and eat their food and then go home, while STILL waiting on my food.
