A must visit for the corn tortillas/dough, which they make in house with heirloom corn. There is a greater depth of flavor and the thicker dough is enjoyable. We got the tacos and tlacoyos, with all different meats. The tacos were a little less filling, so I recommend the tlacoyos if you want more of a meal. The restaurant is a small but brightly decorated place with a few seats for dining in. We were lucky to grab a spot when we were there but most people during the lunch rush had to take their food to go.

We had time before our flight so we decided to do the touristy thing and go to Pike place. We walked around and wanted something warm to drink. The lady behind the counter was very helpful, I asked her about a couple of the drinks and got her opinion between 2 I was considering. I ended up getting the atole latte and it was delicious. My companion got the horchata latte and also enjoyed it. The place is small but cute and clean. Overall a good experience.

I love tacos, and this spot didn't disappoint. First off, as the name suggests, it's all about the corn tortillas. They're homemade with heirloom corn varieties, which means they're fresh and have a great depth of flavor. (There are bottles of different varietals of dried corn scattered around the restaurant with labels on them so you can learn about the different kinds.) I got three tacos: two tinga de pollo and one veggie. The filling was flavorful. It came with spicy green salsa on the side, which I enjoyed for some extra heat and flavor. This spot is at Pike Place Market (right next door to the "original" Starbucks), so it was busy when we went, but service was friendly and our food came out quickly. The shop itself is tiny, and there is only one spot to eat (a bar by the window with four stools) so be prepared to wait to sit, or take your food to go and find a spot by the water, or eat while walking.I spent just over $23 for three tacos, including tax + tip. Is it more than I'm used to paying in my small city? Yes. It it worth it to support a local, family-run, Latino-owned small business that is on a mission to preserve heirloom, non-GMO corn variety and uses fresh ingredients? To me -- yes! If you're looking for tasty, high-quality tacos, check out this spot.

Wow the flavors were amazing. The tortilla had the right amount of bite, the meat was tender, great balance of spices. Will be coming back to get tortillas and tacos.

We love the freshly made tortillas! It tasted like corn on the cob. Like this rich corn flavor in the tortilla that I rarely experience and it just really made these tacos special. The meats were seasoned just right with a great balance of fat vs. lean and against the acidity of the pickled onions, it was just a great taco all the way around. Not a big line either. We were able to sit inside at the barstools and people watch while we ate. I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here as a welcomed break from the typical fried fish and chowder bread bowl fare of the surrounding vendors.

Stumbled at this place while checking Pike Place. We needed something warm and decided to go in here and try an Horchata Latte. The server was quick and attentive to get us our latte. They sell tortillas, tamales, pan dulce and sopes among other delicious snacks!

Hidden gem in a busy market with a million food options. Was in town for just the day and stumbled upon this place online and by the time I tasted it, wished I hadn't just eaten 1.5 pounds of chowder, because man it was amazing.I just came by for a bite and a coffee since we had just eaten at pike place chowder an hour or two before. I got the ceviche tostada, which was loaded with a generous portion of fresh ceviche that was one of the best bites I've had in a while. It wasn't too pickley/limey, it tasted fresh and was packed with flavor. The horchata latte was great as well if you like milky coffee.Wish I was around for more than a day because I'd definitely come back and explore more of the menu. Include this place in your Seattle / pike place food tour! It was somehow empty despite lines everywhere else!

The texture of the tortilla in the tacos was my favorite- they're on the thicker side and taste fresh. The red salsa was more on the thicker side and semi-mild in spice. Service was pretty quick! The inside is small and not a lot of room to eat inside but really cute with these beautiful tiles (see picture)

The service is excellent at this place. You walk in and are greeted with colorful tiled walls and cumbia music so you feel as if you are in the right atmosphere for the type of food you are receiving. The area is tiny so there is only wall sitting in the place so no tables and expect to stand if it's busy. The cashier was friendly and very informative of their menu and answered all my questions. Sadly, I was disappointed by their food. The tortilla is definitely home made but it lacked any real flavor you would expect. I had the Carnitas Taco. The meat itself was tender and not so chewy but it lacked any real flavor, usually the grease from the pork fat offers a strong flavor but it wasn't present. The chips used in the Chilaquiles were not basted in the Chile which therefore didn't taste as one would expect. I was also disappointed to find that there wasn't a fried egg on top. If you are from LA, I would not recommend you to try this place because you will be disappointed.

A new Seattle favorite. We went three times in one trip! All three times for my new obsession, the champurrado. The most delicious, creamy, warm, cozy beverage. Just get a large. Twice we got quesadillas. They are taco sized with cheese. All the meats we tried (steak ranchero, pork carnitas, pork pastor, chicken tinga,) were flavorful and tender. My favorite was steak ranchero, my husband refused to choose a favorite. I don't normally love a corn tortilla, but the flavor and texture of these tortillas are both perfect. If you like Mexican food, you're guaranteed to love Maiz.
