This is a smaller brewery that's a bit off the beaten path. However, the drinks are solid, the atmosphere is unique, and the service is usually really good. They are kid and dog friendly and even have a little patio outside for the warmer days. They offer non-alcoholic drinks including a cream soda and other juices and sparkling waters, and also have free pretzels and other snacks for purchase that are pretty tasty. There are also a few good restaurants just over 405 where you can grab food to go and bring it to Maelstrom, which I do often (Schwarmaniac and Aceituno's are my two favorites). Two other cool things are the two retro video game consoles that come with games like Pacman and Ms. Pacman. Also, their merchandise has an octopus on it which looks a lot like a Kraken (in all fairness Maelstrom was first with this logo), so it fits very nicely with the area. The merch is actually really good looking. Some beers even come in fancy glasses such as a pineapple hazy IPA that they sold over the summer (pictured here).

One of my favorite lesser-known Kirkland spots! I am able to walk here from the Forbes Creek apartments and love stopping by. The staff are fabulous, I always have great interactions and conversations with them. Also, as a gluten free gal, it's awesome to have so many choices here! They have wine, seltzer, and cider-all at very reasonable prices from local spots. The outdoor area is large and fun-perfect for a socially distanced catch up with friends. They are also VERY dog friendly-my dog Olive loves chilling here! If you want to grab a drink and try a fun new spot, you'll love it here!

Pretty nice brewing company. We came 30 min before closing on a Sunday and it was completely empty. It was nice to have the place to ourselves! Their outdoor patio area was spacious and nice. I got a pineapple cider, which was pretty delicious and also ordered a pretzel w hot cheese sauce. It was all pretty yummy. The staff was really welcoming and nice. I was so glad we got to try this place.

Nice place right off 405 in Kirkland. You can actually see/hear traffic on 405 above you when dining on patio. Service was very friendly and we enjoyed multiple check-ins as we drank. Beer quality was nice and very smooth. A few food items on menu made it nice not to have to bring in food or do delivery! Patio is on two sides and one is totally shaded. Location is in a large industrial park, like many breweries these days. It does take away from the outdoor vibe, but it can be overlooked! Try the pretzels!

Deeply disappointing. I've been coming here an average of once a week for the past 6-7 months. They're a convenient stop when I'm out walking the dog and have a decent selection on tap, so I've been overlooking the fact they're not the best at enforcing public health measures. Last night was a breaking point. There was a patron loudly bragging about being unvaccinated. He was allowed entry despite this. He was handed a mask when he went to the counter to order, refused to wear it, and no further attempt was made to enforce the rules. The bartender continued to serve him and didn't say a word. I left after the second or third maskless encounter and do not plan on coming back. Thanks for the memories y'all, but if you need me I'll be down the road at Savage Brewing from now on.

Will return! Always has a selection of tasty beers on tap. A few ciders, seltzers, & wines available for those who prefer. Great service on our recent visits, and complementary pretzels for your munchies. Enjoy the patio, and bring your friendly dog. Clean restrooms complete the pleasant experience.

Intimate and unpretentious brewery tucked away in an inconspicuous location. Outside food is okay but they do have light snacks available there like Bavarian pretzels with dip! I have the schwarzbier (black lager) and my husband had the hazy IPA. Both were very good!! The staff there is very friendly and it's such a welcoming place! There are both indoor and outdoor seating and very dog friendly! It's also close to the Kirkland cross corridor so ideal place to take a nice stroll and then reward yourself with a cold delicious beer!! Definitely a place worth checking out!!!

Another visit to Maelstrom brewery. I now know why I like this place, the staff is always so friendly, the beer flavor are always great and the atmosphere is so laid back. Rather you are alone, with a group or somewhere in between this place. They have drinks for kids and dogs there also. Although they do have snacks available i would suggest grabbing some food from a near by eatery and bring it over and let Maelstrom supply the beverages. If you are in the Totem Lake area stop in and check out the most casual brewery around.
