A diamond in the rough. Old school is cool and so is Mac's Like I walked into Mel's diner. Greeted fast , seated , good ordered and on our table fast. Waitresses that are called honey , and they return the love. Great good Great service Great people A must stop if you're in the area

I enjoy the atmosphere of a classic diner and Mac's definitely has it. The food was good. The coffee is strong (it gave me a headache), and the classic breakfast (eggs, sausage links , and pancakes) is good. The service is attentive. I appreciate that they had a "lighter" section in the menu. Tip: Read through the extensive menu. They have many options! And they serve breakfast all day.

Came into town for a meeting and was here for a couple hours. My friend suggested we have lunch here, and I am very glad we did!It's right off the exit near O'Hare, but if you don't know about this spot, chances are you drive by without getting the benefit of their fantastic offerings!We were greeted by Nick (owner/GM?), and Beth was our server. Everyone was super friendly and helpful- offering advice, getting refills, making sure we were completely satisfied with the meal.The diner has parking on the side and in the back lot, plenty to accommodate everyone if they drove separately. Diners are still going strong in Chicagoland, but now that I'm in GA, I don't have as many options where I live.I usually get an omelette (ham and Swiss) but I changed my order up and went with do red beef hash, a short stack of pancakes, and a side of loaded home fries (Swiss cheese, bacon, onions and potatoes, all cooked to the highest level of crispiness. Nick told me that they make their own salsa, and that people love it. I got a side to try with my loaded home fries- I can get into some serious trouble if I still lived in town here! You can tell they are making this fresh, onions and tomatoes, seasoning, hot peppers, everything is cut nicely into even pieces so you are getting the best of everything when you get into a bite- I loved it! They had two soups today, cream of potato and beef barley. I have been up for almost two days, flying on a redeye from Vegas to ATL, then over to O'Hare for the meeting today. As soon as I get home I am going to sleep for hours! You simply must come in and meet the team that's crushing it out here in Park Ridge. Nick and Beth were the two names I remembered since my brain is operating at low performance from a lack of sleep. I will tell you that it's probably impossible to get out of here without being completely satisfied. They have a personal touch on everything that's obvious in every bite you take. Visiting Chicago, Nov' 23.Stopped by Mac's restaurant for breakfast / brunch.Had the dish with Ham and egg and hash browns. And toast and jam (not pictured). I don't remember name of the dish.Food was great tasting, ham had right amount of salt and sodium. Nothing was spicy and food was rather bland, but it was tasty enough and I'll give it a pass.Solid breakfast spot. The one negative, they accept cash only; and I was lucky that I had a 20 dolla bill stashed just in case. Because I don't imagine they woulda been happy if I only had card no cash.But yeah, pretty cool breakfast spot in Chicago area. Check it out. I promise won't be disappointed -- I know I was not.

Rated pretty highly on Yelp, I had to give it a try and a I glad I did. The restaurant is a classic diner and I sat at the counter overlooking the kitchen. It was clean and tidy. The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. My server was terrific and made sure my coffee was full and had a great smile sense of humor. I had the Mac's Skillet with hash browns and it was fantastic. The salsa made in house had just the right amount of heat. The over easy eggs were prepared expertly. One thing they did that I appreciated was that they didn't over salt the food. Too many diners tend to do that and Mac's cooks had a light hand with the salt, allowing me to season my meal the way I like it. The one thing to be aware of is that they are CASH ONLY. Thankfully they have a ATM there but with a $2.75 charge for the use of it. However the manager/owner covered the cost of the ATM fee which was awesome. Mac's is great! The people, food, and diner ambiance made it a truly enjoyable breakfast. Highly recommended.

Super fast and friendly service! Foods great too!I had the veggie skillet today. Eggs were perfect! I've had pancakes in previous visit and also really good. They're super busy so be prepared to wait for a table otherwise there the counter too! If you haven't tried them you must. Enjoy!

I got 2 poached eggs. They were overdone. That was the first time I've ever had overdone poached eggs. They were pretty much boiled. I also had the sausage, which was good. And the potatoes which were not good.. very dry.

In town for work and Mac's was within walking distance to my hotel. I chose to venture out versus the free breakfast at hotel. Place seems to be a "fave" for locals and the tables turn pretty quickly. The establishment is on the smaller side but the servers are hustling! Only a nook (sits about 3) for ppl waiting on next available. The food comes out quick and cooked right ! I would absolutely make a stop here again if in the area. Support Local !PSA- MACS's takes CASH only. ATM is available at entrance.

Really good breakfast! I had more than an hour to kill for my flight, so I decided to try a local spot instead of airport food. It is set up as an old time dinner with counter seating and booths. The line was long, but they move you thru pretty quick. My waitress was really nice and took the time to tell me the menu. I had the corned beef hash, eggs over easy and hash-browns. Everything tasted really good, right amount of crisp on the hash and hash-browns. Eggs were cooked perfect and the OJ tasted fresh. Highly recommend.

The highlight of my chicago trip. Every single staff member was the kindest person i've ever come across. The food was so quick and also absolutely amazing. This is a must try if you are in the area.
