Machine House Brewery

Machine House is a Seattle beer institution. Recently relocated to Hillman City, it is the only place you will find authentic British cask conditioned Ales in the United States, much less WA! If you, like I, have a periodic craving or curiosity for the beer that inspired the American craft brew revolution, you must stop by and try the real stuff! The new location has a cozy neighborhood feel and I'm sure they will do well there.

This is a pretty local brewery around the Columbia City area. I went here with some friends for some post-dinner drinks and there was a soccer game going on, so the crowd was all invested in the game. You seat anywhere and order the drinks at the front. I personally got the barleywine as it sounded most unique and is like a combination of beer and wine in their preparation process. There is not a heavy amount of carbonation which is the case for beers, which does not sit well with my body. The drink is also a little bit sweet, which makes it easily drinkable. 13 oz is $8 and that is a lot of alcohol, so I asked for a half portion. I took away 2 stars because I was charged $7+tax for half portion, which is a big rip off when I could just get more alcohol and not finish for just $1 more. I'd have thought like the rest of the menu, it would just be a bit more than half the cost, $5, as is most of the other half portion drinks. I felt a bit ripped off, and it wasn't communicated until I did some math and figured out something was off. Otherwise, this place does have some nice brews. If I get another chance and this issue is addressed, I'd be more than happy to try it out again and give an updated rating

Fantastic beer and a great neighborhood atmosphere. If you want to watch a soccer match this is a great place to do that.

Machine house is a great local place to check out if you're looking for an authentic brew pub experience. The staff are always friendly, they make a huge effort to reach out to food trucks to round out the pub experience and the crowd that come here are always friendly. Highly recommend checking Machine House out!
