Lydia's Cakes & Confections

Unfortunately we didn't have the greatest experience. Upon entering the bakery, we were greeted poorly. My sister placed the order and I wasn't sure if the order had been paid for or not. I had my walled with me and asked if I still needed to pay, Lydia proceeded to tell me "I don't make sh!t if it isn't prepaid". I was shocked by the language and the unprofessional approach to my question. The cupcakes were super cute and looked great. We were bummed that she doesn't "decorate" cupcakes or use any color or sprinkles. We hoped that the taste and quality would make up for it, but they were just okay.

Ordered cupcakes for our wedding dessert and everybody LOVED it. Literally everybody wanted to know where to go to order more for themselves! We ordered a purple colored vanilla base with raspberry filling and it was not overly sweet. She even added gold flakes on top to fit our color theme even more. Although it was an extra price, 84 cupcakes werent overly priced for the quality we had. This place was recommended to me by a friend of mine and they did not disappoint. Communication was clear, easy, and quick. Lydia accomodated to all our questions and concerns. Overall, would love to come back and order ourselves a batch when we are craving. Thankfully we got extras from the wedding to hold us over for now.

Lydia has delicious baked goods. The people there are always friendly and very helpful. Even though we moved about three hours away, I still try to stop by when I need to come to Maple Valley. The food tastes "real," not a lot of artificial ingredients.

I highly recommend this amazing business for anything cake, pastry, cupcake, etc., related. ESPECIALLY if you're looking for a cake for a special occasion. Lydia has an eye for artistry that's unique, classy, and dazzling! She made a 2-tier cake for my daughter's baby shower and I could not have been more pleased with how it turned out. I didn't have a specific design in mind; my instructions were 'clean lines and classy aesthetic' - and she absolutely delivered! It was so perfect and everyone at the shower were blown away that something that beautiful could taste so yummy! Lydia was easy to work with, easy to design with, and a total hoot to chat with. She obviously takes great pride in what she does, and it's also obvious she has a passion for design. I highly recommend you contact her well in advance of your event b/c she is highly sought after for specialty cakes.

Poor customer service. We went in hoping to get cupcakes for my bridal shower and weren't welcomed warmly at all. We chose a different bakery to accommodate us and they were great. Have heard great things about what Lydia makes but when you aren't welcomed kindly it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Thankful for other local bakeries around the area!

What a joke. The owner doesn't even care that she was rude to a potential customer. Thanks for laughing at my comment for calling you out. I'm glad you didn't get my business for a large order. Shame on you. All of your 1* reviews mention you being rude for a reason. Its because you are rude and you know it. You could have at least asked what happened instead of providing a snarky response but clearly you don't know how to be respectful. I have never seen a business owner respond to reviews this way. Its ridiculous and makes you look bad but go ahead and drive your business out the door.

Convenient location in Maple Valley but customer service is so lacking it's best to order your cakes elsewhere. Impatient and surprisingly unwelcoming.

Came in to this awesome bakery a few times while living in Preston wA. Their cupcakes and cookies are exceptional. It's not easy to find this place in aSmall shopping center corner near Stocktons but you will be so pleased if you try their baked goods. I am glad that I haven't found such a wonderful bakery in Chicago. At least I'm not eating sweets as much! The owner Lydia has been in business almost 10 years and she is awesome too! She's originally from Indiana so she understood why I needed to move from the area. Miss this place and if you stop in you just get their peanut butter cookies and their amazing cupcakes!The bakeries in Chicago are not nearly this clean not offering cookies this tasty. Pop in and you will be delighted!

For my mom's 90th birthday, she made the most delicious cupcakes! She was so helpful and directing us which cupcake bases to choose as well as what toppings to choose because there were so many delightful ones to choose from each one was delicious not too sweet, very rich and creamy And delicious and my mom enjoyed each and everyone that she had- our guest and my mom had the perfect 90th birthday to remember thank you Lydia!!!

Working with Lydia was the perfect choice for our showstopper wedding cake. We found her at a wedding expo in Seattle and loved her samples. She has an impressive variety of cake and icing flavors. Lydia is also a gifted artist whose medium is cake. We told her we wanted a spectacular peacock wedding cake and let her design whatever she wanted. She created a beautiful cake that was unique inside and out. It was so much fun to cut into our confetti and Oreo buttercream cake!
