Lush Cafe And Lounge

I was in Scottsdale for my 40th birthday festivities and stumbled upon this astounding establishment. I'd driven for over an hour (Googling different cities in between travel) looking for a black owned establishment. Whenever I travel I seek out to support (I am from Houston so BOBs are easier to find). This lounge was perfect for my last night in Arizona. The songstress and live band, incredibly soothing. But it does not stop there. The ambiance and the welcomeness of the staff and owner let me know it was going to be a great night. As a solo traveler to a new town you want to feel like you're "home away from home" and that is what happened. My awesome waiter provided great food and cocktail recommendations: Candy Rain cocktail (Similar to an AMF but BETTER), Jerk Eggrolls , and the showstopper Seafood Alfredo Mash. Colossal shrimp atop salmon (perfectly cooked and seasoned- I'm a Texas girl so if the flavor isn't right it's not a good night ), asparagus, and BOMB mashed potatoes dripping with Alfredo sauce. I am so happy to have found this lounge, especially on Grown & Sexy night (30+) the owner was BEYOND hospitable and she made my night the best to date.I wish this new establishment much success and blessings . I do not foresee them stopping anytime soon but don't wait too long to give them a try. You'll have an amazing experience!

Our uncle invited us out to celebrate our aunt for her birthday. He made the reservation ahead of time for Friday July 19th @ 7:30p. Once we pulled up; the restaurant is located in an area w/ other businesses close by but ample parking was available. We were advised ahead of time of their strict dress policy so please make sure you read ahead of time to prepare. We were greeted by our hostess & was seated m. Once seated our waiter Luis came over to introduce himself, explain the menu in details & gave us a few moments to make our selection. We absolutely loved his energy & told us about himself by gave us an ice breaker question as well. We placed our orders for appetizers: lush crab cakes (should be 3 instead of 2 & cooked a little longer but good), jerk rolls were good but spicy w/ a delicious dipping sauce, buffalo cauliflower bites (spicy & needed less breading/ suggestion less breading & have selection of dipping sauces on the side, Lamb chops w/ fried rice & shrimp (2), short ribs which are cooked for 5hrs w/ mashed potatoes, gravy & asparagus (2). All our dinner meals were delicious which range from $38-45 per person. Our drinks we ordered were the candy rain, confessions & sexual healing. As you can see all the drinks are named after R&B songs which were very cleaver. Price $18 & up There was a live band & 2 ladies singing music which gave our overall experience a 10. DJ plays great music as well between breaks from the live music as well. Also check out their selfie area in the back which we found out afterwards & beautiful art work closer in the restaurant. Lush also offer limited time happy hour from 3-5pm I believe on drinks & appetizers. Not certain if there is a fee to make a reservation or not online but they do accept walk in's. 'My family & I would love to come back for the dinner & try their brunch menu.

I wanted so badly to be able to give a 5 star review. This however, is not the case. I actually was not going to leave a review until I read through a few on another website. It's been well over a year since I attempted to venture out and Lush Cafe was my choice. Worse decision I could have made!A good friend of mine invited me out for drinks, knowing we both had early mornings, we decided Lush would be the ideal spot. Close by, mature, and gave us the opportunity to support a Black owned business.My friend was immediately turned away because her white dress showed her silhouette. Although Security is responsible for making the decision, a woman from inside ran out to tell her the dress was inappropriate, despite the fact that it came to her ankles.My friend is a beautiful bi-racial woman. (Fair skin + white dress = washout) Even though the restaurant staff person spoke in a soft tone, you have to be aware that you may trigger a person by what you say. The way she repeatedly shaped her hands around my friends body, explaining her point, really felt like body shaming. Instead of stating the restaurant would be closing at midnight, incase we wanted to change and come back, the employee turned and went inside.We left and ended up spending $40 for a dress that could have been spent in the restaurant. Although the black sheer dress 'passed' the scrutiny, we were told that the kitchen closed at 11pm. (It was 10:54pm.) No time to squeeze into the table and make a decision if we wanted food.My friend at this time, feeling very uncomfortable asked if we could just leave because of how she had been made to feel. Once outside, security said he didn't understand what the problem was with the first dress. We walked away.The employee who initially refused us entry, ran outside as we were walking away and said, "I need you to come back. I need you to come in."If she had informed us of the closing time before, maybe we would have. Maybe if her looks were not so disparaging towards my friend, maybe. Maybe instead of inviting us back tomorrow to see a live performance and to get there early, with no other offer of free water or something, we would have considered it. Because she said she needed us to come back.I even asked if it was a church establishment because of the long list posted outside the main entrance of what is not allowed to be worn. I was told it wasn't. I had a looser dress code at my all girls high school, and we wore uniforms.I guess she needed us to come back because the parking lot was less than half full, on a Friday night. I could have overlooked all of this, but the one thing, I cannot and will not over look is poor treatment to people of color, especially from other people of color.If you think my comments are extreme, tell that to the tears that flowed from my friend's eyes for 30 minutes because of how she was made to feel.All we wanted to do was have a drink. We will have a drink, but it won't be here. You never know who is coming to your place of business or what influence they may have. All I can say is do better......

Great place to drop into for drinks, food and vibes.We dropped in on a Sunday, about 2p.Enjoyed the mimosas and the presentation. Service was great from Lewis(sp?). He was very knowledgeable and had lots of suggestions for first time visitors.Food was ok. I definitely would like to return to try the dinner menu.

We visited for the first time for brunch, with a group of 8. We did not have a reservation however that did not hinder us from getting a table considering we arrived right when they open at 11. We had to hang out at the bar though until the last two in our party arrived, no biggie; the bartenders were very nice.Immediately upon being seated, our waitress was there taking our drink order and food order. Despite a few in my party being undecided, she was patient with them as they went back on forth on whether they wanted an egg on their avocado toast. Everyone placed their order at the same time however all the food did not come out at the same time. There were 3 shrimp and grits, 3 breakfast burritos, 3 avocado toasts 1 chicken and waffles, and 1 French toast. First out was 2 shrimp and grits, 2 avocado toast, and 5 mins later, one burrito, about 5 mins later, the French toast and another burrito, then shortly there after the chicken and waffles and last burrito, they forgot the last avocado toast. I did not like this method of bring it out as soon as it's ready. The food, though, was good. One buddy said the chicken tasted like someone grandma was in the back frying the chicken. I tasted the shrimp and grits and was pleased. It was flavorful. I had the burrito, which was so huge that I only ate half. The owner came to our table and shared how the place came to be and how the drink menu ties into how he and his wife met. It was a nice touch. They also had a DJ playing early 90's RnB, which is my type of music.Only reason it's not a 5 is that the food arrived at different times (we ended up praying over the first 3 entrees we got so they could eat, you cant eat cold shrimp and grits) , you had to have your whole party there before you're seated, and the waitress had big gaps in time visiting the table, which, for a party of 8 requires a bit more attention, but she was SUPER nice.I'd go back.

I visited Lush for brunch, but I can already see the potential for an amazing atmosphere at night time.The food was great. I had both the shrimp and grits, which came with turkey sausage (that's a plus for me) and the French toast. Both were very flavorful! They have a music theme with drinks aligning with that theme. I had a purple drink, although I can't remember the name. It was great.Service was quick. The server was very attentive and the owner even came out to explain the restaurant and the theme.I can't wait to go back and try more menu items.

I've dined here a few times now, for brunch and dinner- it's truly a gem. Food is amazing. Beautiful place, aesthetically pleasing. Live music. Melanated. What more could you ask for?Definitely recommend.

Oh my goodness! What a wonderful experience at the Lush Cafe and Lounge. Came here to celebrate my sista's birthday and we were not disappointed. Service (thanks Quoia) was amazing. Attentive staff, excellent DJ, food and drinks (amazing)! We will be back with a bigger group and we will rent out the VIP area!

Inside out no detail was missed!! The outside of the building is classy and once you step inside the food, drinks , vibe, staff and decor did not disappoint! The food and drink presentation was fantastic! The chicken was cooked to perfection; crispy & well seasoned!! The red velvet waffle was the best I've ever had!!! They had a DJ who was very enjoyable and he played a nice selection of music.

Definitely recommend! If you want an upscale but relaxed atmosphere with great food, music and dope vibes, Lush is it!The owners Jason and Rosa make you feel like family!
