Just received my order from Lucky Star. The dumplings are oversized and chewy. They are not worth what I paid for them. I called this evening but was unable to resolve the issue because the manager was as not present. When ordering through a delivery service, we pay a premium. I expect edible food.

Always good food for a good price with large portions too! Lucky Star is a great family-owned business; the kids run the counter efficiently and are friendly and polite. When I have a Chinese food craving, this is my go-to.

"Well, bless my lucky star!"I stopped in at 2PM for 'lunch' (lunch menu pricing extends to 3:30PM).Lucky Star is a modest strip-mall restaurant with a very, very traditional Chinese 1950s ambiance. You enter the front door into a glass box that in turn has an entry door to the restaurant. The carpet is a faded red and green Chinese Paisley design. The booths are solid red textured plastic and the tables are a low contrast pastel purple. Low-watt yellow lamps hang over each booth and the quiet music playing in the background is the same we've all heard a million times (it repeated over and over for an hour!) All in all, Lucky Star is one big Déjà Vu experience. It doesn't stop there. An ornate heavy menu is already on your table. Shortly, a teapot of fresh brewing tea arrives, and the waitress takes your order (I ordered Kung Pao Chicken). The Kung Pao chicken comes with your choice of soup, appetizer, rice and fortune cookie. Considering that hot tea is included, this is a real value at $9.50. All of the lunch menu entrées range from $8.50 to $11.50, and the variety offers something for everyone.I 'thank my lucky stars' that I ordered won-ton soup, but was served hot'n'sour soup by mistake - best mistake ever, the hot'n'sour was absolutely delicious, had all the ingredients and flavor we all remember and love.I chose the BBQ Pork appetizer. Three large slices came chilled with traditional sesame seed, hot mustard and catsup sauce. The flavor of Chineese pork with mustard was unique and aromatic. All of the ingredients of the Kung Pao Chicken were diced the same size, even the chicken. The celery, carrots and of course peanuts, stood out. Although traditionally considered a spicy entrée, this was more mild and deep in flavor - a comfort food for sure. I realy enjoyed it! ...also very easy to eat with chop sticks!I have no complaints, this was Chinese food at its traditional best. But be aware, there is a $ .45 charge for paying with your debit card. You don't even know it until you sign the receipt! No big deal for me, Lucky Star's prices are more than reasonable !Damn! I kept humming that background music in my head for an hour after leaving ! 4-Stars - Scott

The almond chicken was crispy, the kind of crispy where it was teetering on dry. My son liked the wonton soup app so much so that he wanted a 2nd serving and my hubs liked the veggie egg rolls. I eat Asian food all the time so I felt like it was standard Chinese food but next time I'll order something different. The staff were quick and there's plenty of parking since it's in the same pavillion as Trader Joe's and LA Fitness.

3.6 stars Food was okay. General Tso's chicken and chicken chow mein were tasty but everything else was just okay. FYI- the lunch specials are a good deal but portions are pretty small. I had trouble ordering online and kept receiving error messages. I even tried calling the number on the website but was just told to refresh my browser.

I sort of debated between 3 and 4 stars. Depends on what you are looking for. Simple, sparsely visited Chinese place in the strip mall next to Trader Joe's. There are 2 other people here at 12:30. Traditional Chinese music going at a good volume. Old school decor. Obviously not a Michelin star outfit but the lunch specials are very reasonably priced and food delivered quickly. It's a true mom/pop so you order electronically via app and the poor gal races around covering the whole place herself. They are making a go of it though (respect!). The food was solid and satisfying on a freezing day outside. Probably won't be a frequent flyer but left satisfied today.

What happened to lucky star??? We used to love this place but our meal experience last night was horrendous. The food tasted really bad. We eat in and took an order out. The takeout order was completely wrong. We ordered sweet and sour prawns and egg flower soup. When we got home we got the same awful chicken we had in the restaurant. The soup was hot and sour instead of egg flower. My husband refused to eat what I brought home and threw it in the trash. Will not be going back. The bill was 60.00 and half of the food went into the trash.

Service was always quick and this place always has a big selection. The prices are decent for its quality but it's a good go to restaurant. Especially since it's one of the few Dim Sum restaurants that serve so late.

Nothing special here. I had the wor wonton soup which honestly had large pieces of meat and veggies but seamed to be lacking in flavor. I was very disappointed. I also had the chicken chow mein which was packed with flavor. I would definitely try the chow mein again and skip the wor wonton soup.

Meal was horrible. Used to be really good but today our food was greasy, looks like they changed suppliers the egg rolls were bad and now really tiny, crab Rangoon was bad. They now charge for a tiny box of rice which used to come with the meal. They have no staff so it's take out only. I need a new Chinese restaurant. Please give me better options in Kent!!!Will not go back here ever.
