Ye Olde Fish House

My partner has lived here for years and decided to have me try this cute little place in town. I tried it and quickly noticed what i do and do not like. Everything was cooked well, but what I don't like is when restaurants don't add simple seasonings like salt or pepper. Or they don't add enough to where you can actually taste it. Having a big fish sandwich with 4 pieces of fish in it is great, but not if I can't taste anything. I understand that this is a historic staple for everyone in Columbus, but this is personally not my type of style. Maybe it is because their crowd is a particular bunch, and I am not in that crowd, so it is understandable that I would not like it as much as them. Overall, a decent place to go. They have very good desserts that I think come from next door as well.

The fish was amazing!! The sandwiches are huge!! We also just had to get a tenderloin to go.. any dessert you could imagine . Best service and most friendliest people. What a great business!! if you haven't tried this place you need to try it. It's a hidden gem.!!

Always great. Sides are to die for and the desserts are great. Family friendly and we appreciate Friday night late hrs.

This is a great local place for fried fish and tenderloins, filled with regulars. As you walk in the door, look right and grab a tray, some napkins and plastic silverware, and take a look down the line at the cold sides and desserts to see if anything strikes your fancy.Then move your tray down to the other side, where you can see the fried fish, tenderloins, and cafeteria-style hot sides. There's a menu board immediately overhead.I always get the FISH PLATTER, which is delicately fried mild catfish piled high on a plate. The green beans, mac and cheese, and potatoes are usually available as hot sides, and are good choices. The TENDERLOINS are huge.The dining area is like a trip back in time, and includes an interesting old promotional map of Columbus from the 80s that I am completely jealous of. They don't oversalt their food here, but there are salt and pepper shakers on the table for you to get your spice on if you wish.You'll definitely feel like a local here, and will leave satisfied.

Stepping in here is like taking a step back in time in a refreshing way. The host is friendly and ready to give you a run down of all the warm and cold sides. The menu is simple, your meal is either fish or tenderloin and they slap a portion of fisher larger than described. The tartar sauce is the best I've had, I actually prefer it to Frisch's big boy which stood alone as my favorite. The horseradish sauce option is great too and serves as a great contrary to the tartar. Next door lies a pie shop which gives Ye Olde an assortment of pie options great to take home or enjoy there if you somehow still have room. In today's age, its rare to find hidden gems like this establishment.

Such a great place. Everyone working was the friendliest and the food was awesome! Thank y'all for the hospitality. I'll be back whenever I come back to Columbus!

Fish was good. Potatoes had been boiled then kind of fried. Mac-n-cheese was watery They CHARGED for a cup of WATER WITH MY MEAL! It's fairly expensive for what they serve.

Best fish sandwich in the county, probably in the state. Courteous, pleasant service. Pricing is good. Great brown mustard.

Great southern food! Fresh fried fish, Mac and cheese, greens and awesome pies from the pie shop next door. I love mom and pop shops who support other mom and pop shops!
