Wine on the River is such an awesome event! It's held at the Big Four Lawn and attendees are able to drink tons of different wines and spirits, as well as try food available for purchase from restaurants, like Bourbon Raw. Last year I was able to try tons of stuff I hadn't had before, which is always a fun experience. Proceeds from the event go to help the Boys and Girls Haven, so it's lots of fun for a great cause. The event also has vendors set up throughout, as well as live music entertainment. If you're looking for a fun late summer/fall event, Wine on the River is a great one! Even if you're not a huge fan of wine, they have plenty of other spirits on tap, so go check it out!

This was our third year in a row attending Wine of the River and it has only gotten better. I love wine tasting events and this one doesn't disappoint. It helped that we had perfect weather on Saturday for this all outdoor event. The Big Four Lawn provides a great location for all of the wine tents, food trucks, live music and more. This isn't just a local wine tasting- there are wines from all over which is lovely because not all Kentucky and Indiana wines are good. You start with a bracelet with 10 tasting tickets and once you have made your way through those, you get 2 more bracelets for a total of 30 tastings. It is challenging to get through all of them but I am proud to say that this year- I did! They had a lot of sparkling wines which made me happy. There is also an entire row of spirits including bourbon, gin, brandy and moonshine. The food choices were great too. Options included sushi, burgers, pizza, tacos and hot dogs. Normally I would go straight for the sushi food truck but we needed something to absorb all of that wine so burgers did the trick. We had a blast!

This was such a nice event. We sprung the extra few dollars to get the VIP pass and it was wonderful entering 30mins before GA to get around to the samples first . There were numerous venders with a plethora of wines to sample. We were pleasantly surprised to see "Whiskey Row" which was a big hit among us samplers. The location was nice. They had live bands that played nice Jazz music. Plenty of lawn area to bring blankets or chairs to lounge around, sip wine, or enjoy the weather, friends and loved ones. Everyone was allowed a max of 30 sample tabs which was more than enough. I will be going back, this was a fun, low key, grown up event!

Won tickets through Yelp for this event that I was really wanting to go to! And Had so much fun today! Loved trying all the wines and of course the food trucks! Such a fun event, set up so nicely! Great weather today also, which was a huge plus! The amount of samples you get is awesome. We each got wristbands and had a total of 30 samples a piece. Also a souvenir wine glass for the tastings. It was cool to see how many businesses were there too doing giveaways. Oliver had the best Apple wine and of course Huber's has the best wine of all time. We were told when we checked in that they also had beer, but this year they did not so my husband was disappointed. Only reason for four stars. They did have awesome choices from distilleries though which at least made him feel better about the lack of beer. Check out the website for all of the wines and distilleries that we're featured and try 'em all. You will not be disappointed!

I went to the 3rd Annual Wine on the River. It was a beautiful, sunny Fall day. That was out of the event's control, but a big plus. There were many wines to taste. A Bourbon Row, which was a nice touch. You got one bracelet, with 10 #s, for tastings. Once you got through that bracelet, you could get another, then another, with 30 total tastings. Maybe that has to do with a weird Louisville law, of which there are many, but it worked. The bracelets, were a good idea, but many people thought they were too difficult; difficult to get the numbers off. People as in patrons and vendors. I just broke off the number as I was waiting, for my tasting. There was one music stage and you could hear the music throughout the event. Being on the river always gives a nice view and a good feeling, so that was a big plus. The food vendors were good. Once again we had the latex glove issue; my husband (and, many people are!) is allergic. He didn't think he would get to eat, but someone at the Portage House booth heard he needed no latex gloves, ran him down, and made him food, with non-latex gloves. We will be going to their restaurant. The food was great and the care of service was exceptional. Thank you! The getting in was probably the only bad part. There should have been a line for people with and without tickets. They had a line and a VIP line, at first. Eventually, they opened both lines, to everyone, but people that already had tickets, were in line with people that had to purchase tickets. There also should have been a sign and/or someone along the line letting everyone know about the bracelets, so they didn't have to be explained every time. I love wine and this is the event, for you, if you do, too. I discovered a few new wines that I will purchase.

Had so much fun at this event. The layout was perfect, the day was beautiful, and the wine flowed all day. The band was really good and the atmosphere really allowed you to enjoy it. I wish they had a few more seating options but if you can remember to bring a blanket, you will love the tree covered grass areas. They need to make it clear dogs aren't allowed in because I saw way to many people try to entered with them- then turn around and stick them in the hot car which really bothered me.

This was a lot of fun but quite a bit more expensive than many other wine events i've been to, maybe its because it's on the river so the view was nicer than most. A really good time but I'm not sure I would pay $60 per ticket to go again.
