Winchester 96 Truck Stop

This Mom & Pop truck stop has a very good sit down restaurant.The ladies working the evening I visited were very friendly and helpful. So many items on the menu.I selected the evening special which was Beef Tips with Mashed Potatoes and brown gravy, meal was really delicious. They also had a large selection of pies and cakes, I had a slice of Chocolate Cream Pie and it also was delicious.

Food was good. Nothing fancy. Old truck stop where the locals hang out. I've have to try stopping for lunch next time I pass through.

At first we are a little nervous pulling off the road looking for this place it's nothing to look at and we almost had our doubts walking in but oh oh my the food was delicious and inexpensive we had Denver omelette, scrambled eggs, three extra orders of bacon, 1 coffee and our bill was $16 for two people, plus we went there later in the morning and the biscuits were not dry at all we were shocked everything was so good and served hot, yes everything is homemade and fresh.

From the outside it is not fun to look at, but inside, the old mom and pop truck stop food is alive and well. Friendly staff am very good food. Had the double bacon cheeseburger and it was a great sandwich. Prices are hard to near for the meal you get.

I was really in the mood for a burger and remembered some co workers eating something from the truck stop down the road. It's not just a truck stop though they serve great food and the onion rings are ridiculous. If you want to try something local that's fast and quality food try it out.

Had breakfast as I was leaving Lexington. Great hash browns and coffee took my mind off of my brother for a moment. I have been travelling the USA in search of my brother Branislav. He eats too many of the Oreos and flys off the stick. Winchester 96 is a great stop along your way if you are looking for Americana on the side of road. Staff is friendly and attentive to needs, lots of salt available if you like it better than pepper. I personally as a person like the pepper but sometimes it make me sneeze. I wish my Aunt Getzy was with me she would have loved this place! Keep up the good work.

Place closes at 9pm. Food was okay. Customer service was good. Wouldn't mind stopping by again when in the neighborhood.

I'm at a loss on stars to give. I travel for work and have stopped here multiple times hoping to catch a late night meal. Of these it was open once. The food was great, old truck stop diner quality and feel. That time would be a 4-5. Seeing the information on Yelp and other online sources as being 24/7, it's a 1. Please update the pages. Having a phone or way to order to be picked up would be even better.
