This is a nice way to enjoy the zoo differently. Wild Lights can be experienced when the sun is still shining, which provides better pictures, or reserved during a late evening to see the lights at their brightest. The lights offer several themes to keep it interesting, including a few tunnels to walk through. Tickets are sold individually or in groups for families, plus a parking fee. They must be reserved online with a time selected; however, we've not had trouble getting in before or after the ticket time. Warn the kids that animals will be tucked away for bedtime. Don't forget strollers and snacks, and it's always fun to stop by the Dollar Store to grab cheap glow in the dark items. Have fun!

Wild Lights at the Louisville Zoo is an absolutely gorgeous display of lanterns. We've been the last two years and can't wait to go back. All of the lanterns were different from last year. This would be a perfect place to take a date but it's also perfect for families. My children loved the interactive playground at the end. A lot of the displays are interactive too. The loop is about 1.4 miles long. I would highly recommend waiting until it is actually dark before you go. Last year we went a little too early and going later made a huge difference. Other than that, you can't go wrong with this event!

Fellow Elite Leslie W and I chose a day to attend the Wild Lights event at the Louisville Zoo, after attending the Yelp virtual event about the special occurrence. I will admit, that I was a little "meh, okay." about the whole thing initially. I was excited about some time with my friend and the lights were secondary. But I gotta say....it was much more than I expected! The silk around the lights and armatures looked beautiful and made the animals and plants that were displayed look like stained glass. There were some interactive displays (moving ones, smoke-filled bubbles, walk-through ones) that were lovely and lots of fun, for children and grown ups alike! And fine...I will say it. It was a little bit magical! We chose a weeknight and a little later in the evening to avoid too much of a crowd. There were some congested areas, but that is to be expected. Also a little perk....seeing some of the nocturnal-y animals being a bit more active and sleeping primates :-P It reminded me a lot of the River of Lights Christmas event in Albuquerque at the BioPark, just with warmer weather and closer to my home. Both are a lot of fun and worth a visit!

What a stunning and unique experience offered by the Louisville Zoo. Hubby and I spent about an hour and a half strolling through the display of 70+ handcrafted, silk lanterns. The lanterns were artfully displayed and many had an added feature of animation that took their display to a whole new level, maybe even magical! It was a delightful experience for both young and old! A parking ticket for the zoo parking lot is automatically added when tickets are purchased (online). Admission is staggered (I presume to avoid too many people in the park at once?) but the event was still very crowded. Of course, we were there on a Saturday night, so crowds are expected. I would have waited much later to arrive, but the zoo's website said the event ended at 10:30. Once at the zoo, signs indicated the event did not close until midnight. All-in-all a great experience, however I would suggest for future events there be zoo employees or security personnel mingling around the exhibits. I lost count of the number of parents and children climbing into the roped off exhibits. I observed one child tearing teeth from an animal lantern as the parent stood by and photographed the act. Thank you Louisville Zoo for sponsoring this event!

This was our first visit to the zoo, let alone Wild Lights. Figure on $82 for a family of 4 (with parking). More if you are willing to pony up major $$ for snacks. The displays are fantastic, and the darker it gets, the more they "pop". Figure in a 90 minute stroll. Longer, if the kids talk you into a carousel ride ($$) or the free playground. Don't expect to see many animals as most are put to bed for the evening. We did see a giraffe and lots of ducks, but little else. But there were some things that need improvement. We didn't see any zoo staff along the trail. None. No-one to give directions to help lost kids, or point the way to restrooms. Some sections are unlit, making the paths dangerous for folks with poor vision. But most glaring, was a lack of directional signs pointing the way. We were never confident we were heading toward the exit until we were almost on top of it. Of course, that's when we finally saw a staffer.

The Wild lights exhibit at the Louisville Zoo is definitely a unique experience for people of all ages. Depending on the crowd (we went on a Saturday night; enough said) it took about 2 hours to traverse. Pre-paid parking was not a problem as we arrived early for a 7:45 time slot. The craft and illumination that were required to produce these exhibits were exquisite and a true work of art. Several even included motion and animation. We waited until 8:45 to tour so it was a darker backdrop for the exhibits. In the future I would recommend waiting until 9:30 to tour. The only negative aspect of this great experience was the shame that many parents and their brood thought they were above the park rules and went over the ropes to climb over and deface the displays. The Zoo really needs to station more park personnel throughout the area to curtail this disrespectful activity.

This is a great adventure that the Louisville zoo offers during the month of April through May. My family and I went last Friday evening around 830 right when it was getting dark and it was great weather outside. The tickets were $20 per person or $60 for a family of four so we paid $60 in the four of us went. Park at the zoo you walk through there's great lights and structures and cool Asian music playing throughout the whole thing it takes you throughout the whole park. Has a lot of great photo opportunities has a lot of cool designs and interactive Grillo sound all sorts of neat things that my family and I really enjoyed. It was a unique experience That we were really happy that we participated in and decided to go. It was very crowded you do have to wear your mask through the adventure since Cove it is still going on. But definitely worth checking out it's a really good fun activity for the kids and for the adults to to see all the fun things I think it took us about 2 1/2 hours to walk the whole exhibit so it was a lot of fun

I love all of the events they put on at the zoo, especially the Wild Lights! I think they do such a great job setting this up. All of the displays are so pretty! You definitely want to go there when it's a little darker out so that the displays really pop!

Exceeded our expectations. Delightful experience for the family. Very nice variety of light displays. Lots of photo opportunities. The Chinese performance is worth seeing. The lighted 'playground' is crowded and could use some zoo-staff oversight.
