My dog thrifting

I grew up going to this thrift store as my childhood dentist is in the same shopping center. It felt like a hidden gem. My visits have become less and less frequent as the prices have skyrocketed on many items. This store has began pricing furniture items as curated vintage store or antique store prices. The store is too dirty, unorganized and poorly lit to be charging $249 for a single chair. The price tag said the chairs have been there since June. Sure the chairs were probably custom made in 1970 and are nice, but need cleaning and this is a dirty thrift store. In my opinion the person pricing the furniture should take the store and atmosphere into consideration. The condition of the store was once justified by the low prices. You can find some truly cool items. Like many thrift stores this one seems to price "name brand" clothing and "real wood" furniture higher regardless of current value. And it seems like the items are sitting as a result of what I think is unrealistic prices.

This is the best thrift store ever for finding stuff you didn't know you needed. They could label half the store "miscellaneous". Unlike Goodwill with it's fancy [air quotes] categories [air quotes], if somebody donates it, Wayside will sell it. Update August 2014: Today I saw half a dozen upright pianos so cheap you could buy one just to blow it up, enough sports trophies to totally cover your mantle and a stuffed Barney the size of a six-year-old (and just a bit disturbing.) Always lots of furniture, framed art, bed linens, and literally thousands of stuffed animals. Bring somebody over 55 on Tuesday for 25% off everything. Skip the clothes. There is a sister store on Poplar Level, but it's smaller and much less interesting.Btw, Wayside is the single largest provider of shelter for homeless people in Louisville.

Residing in what was once a K-Mart, this thrift store is known for it's massive size, and it's selection of homegoods. Among the items commonly found here, church pews and 1970's couches seem to be all the rage. A room exclusively of children's toys is also found, along with a "boutique" section of donations which are unworn clothing from local retailers.

Need a lot of dusting and cleaning . Need Bright lights in the building. They make up their prices, which is extremely to expensive for some of the items and clothing.

So it's a little scary and overwhelming when you first go in... it's not a manicured thrift experience BUT I have found so many cute things for my house there. They have so many things for a person just starting out as a home owner. Everything has been reasonably priced. There's a lot of furniture, too. I also brought in my dog and nobody seemed bothered at all which is always a plus for me.

Really special place to find unique things and the staff have done a really good job of organizing the items for sale. Our recent visit had us interacting more with the great people working there. They are very service oriented. I love supporting their mission.

Lots of parking and room but the building is dark and unkept. If this is a Christian mission my thought is that some Christians need to step up and volunteer to make this a nice store for the glory of God.

Hardly a bargain. Go in and the store has clothes at least twice and in some cases five times the cost of Goodwill. They're in worse shape for wear as well. If it's "NB" A.K.A. "Name brand" it could be anywhere from $10-$12 and not $2-$4 like you think it'd be. It's all donated stuff but it comes in by the forklift load which is on full display in the back of the store. The store is dim and dirty and the "clerks" are too busy watching movies or listening to vulgar music (remember this is a "Christian" mission?) to care. The store may support "Wayside Christian Mission" but it's more like this Mission has fallen by the Wayside.
