A great campground with Very spacious sites. The lake was beautiful for paddle boarding and the grounds were clean and facilities plenty. Highly recommended.

Shower house and restrooms are very clean. Campground very clean. Each site has a nice metal picnic table, wood table next to fire pit, Pole for hanging a lantern. Spots are pretty close together, all are gravel, and quite a few lakeside spots. All workers very helpful and nice. Saw deer and ducks. Saw lots of fish but they weren't biting. Very rocky banks not easy to fish off of. Great place to swim, in idle zone next to bank. Great place to get away and social distance at the same time. 40 minutes to Diamond Cavern in mammoth cave national park. 20 minutes to double j stables for horseback riding. Marina and there is boat parking in the campground in B area. Nice vacation. Very relaxing.

Five stars because it's paradise for our family when we can't go to the beach or otherwise choose a staycation. We've had so many great memories here over the years. The campground is normally well manicured, a genuine camping experience with the amenities of a bath house and certain sites having electric and water. The only thing I could dock stars for (but figure it's part of camping anyway), would be the bath house. The sheer amount of spiders and large insects lingering around at all hours is insane, especially when showering or dropping the deuce, as 8 legs come hauling ass your way!The campground has become increasingly packed on weekends with many of the sites being booked months in advance. That's fine by us. Our schedule allows us to be off while the majority of the workforce is hard at it. We absolutely love being at the campground through the week, especially while school is in session. This allows us to sometimes be the only campers in the area and the waters of Nolin lake to be like glass. The campsites vary in length and layout as well as some that offer electric and water. They all have a picnic table, lantern hook and a fire ring with grill top. Just bring a tent and some chairs, don't forget the graham crackers, chocolate and the marshmallows and make memories that you and your family will cherish forever. You will see plenty of deer and wild turkey in the area throughout the year. Many of the sites have lakefront footage as well, allowing you or loved ones to wet a line and maybe catch dinner for the evening. Hope your family enjoys your stay as much as mine, Happy Camping!

As I've mentioned before, Nolin Lake is my favorite lake. So, here I am again, bringing you another one of my finds on the shores of one of Kentucky's seventeen lakes. We were here on Labor Day weekend and even though all of the campgrounds and boat rentals were completely booked, the lake wasn't incredibly busy. I don't have a boat, I usually just go out in the lake on float. So, we always try to get a site overlooking the lake, with lake access. The only bad thing about getting a site with lake access here, is that everyone else accesses the lake from your site too. The other two NL campgrounds had beach areas, so that was where most people without lake access sites entered the lake. One guy even docked his boat right beside where my husband was fishing... on our site.WAX is one of several COE (US Army Corps of Engineers) campgrounds in the area. This was the third campground that I've tried on NL. This one is my favorite so far, but I think there's still a few that I've not tried. Here, you'll find the most waterfront sites with hookups. The other two nearby campgrounds that I've tried were Dog Creek and Moutardier (pronounced Moody Deer). Both of those had many water front sites, but many didn't have water and electric hookups. Apparently the waterfront sites at Wax haven't always had hookups, that was something that was later added. The showers and bathroom stalls in the bathhouse was very clean. I think that they cleaned them everyday... I'm not sure if that was only because it was a holiday weekend, or if that was a usual thing. We were in site A13. That was the best site because it was waterfront and on one side, it was wooded. So, it was somewhat secluded. A few spots to pitch the hammock, in the wooded area that were totally hidden from the road or the lake. We recently switched to T-Mobile because of their unlimited data. Well, one thing that is limited is their service. We had no cell service here. It's no fault to the campground, just worth making note of.The campground is across the street from the marina. I wouldn't recommend walking it though. The marina is downhill, which would make it a rough walk back. There's also a lodge and restaurant by the marina. We ate at the restaurant last year, but I wouldn't recommend it. There is a nearby restaurant that I do recommend though, it's called Blue Holler Cafe. Another nearby attraction that I recommend is Cub Run Cave... it's one of my favorite places in Kentucky. The experience in that cave is so much more up close than any of the ones that I've experienced in Mammoth Cave.

Campground is clean and great place for families to come to stay. The park attendants are great and very friendly, helpful with any questions or problems. They both are very cheerful and greetful every time they was out checking the grounds. It was a great place to be.

Amazing campsite! Cell service is spotty but expected. We were in A12 and recommend it or B. C side is more primitive. We had tons of space. Very quiet and patrolled frequently by the sheriff department and rangers. Bathrooms were close and clean. Tons of showers that worked and were also clean. The view was beautiful. Highly recommend!

So I'll start with what I think are the most important facts and go from there. This review is for Loop A where we stayed.SHOWERS: water pressure is good, but you may have to find the right shower. Some of the faucets are older than others and seems like the hard water has clogged some up. In the women's room there are 7 toilets and 6 showers, we were here a full 7 days and I barely saw anyone in them. They are cleaned at least once daily and besides some spiders that make their home in the nooks and crannies it was very clean. The showers are not limited with timers or coins which I absolutely loved, and when someone flushed a toilet the water pressure didn't fluctuate at all! SITE SIZE: The sites are well-spaced, closer together near the water then further apart as it goes back. I absolutely LOVED our site, it was large enough for our 22 footer, full sized pickup with room for a second vehicle, plus a 12 ft canopy and separate fire pit area. It backed up to a thicket of woods so our dog had a wonderful private little area to explore on the leash. The sites are also staggered, so no one was directly across from us and we looked into a wooded ravine and not into someone's trailer. The sites have water and electric on this loop, some tent campers set up shop but the sites all look to be fitted for it.CHECKING-IN is a nicely done system. We did all reserving online so it was on the books in advance. We paid for Sunday but arrived Monday 0500 after driving 13 hours overnight, so I was worried someone was going to come banging on the door at 0700. Thankfully posted on the site pole at our site there was our reservation, car tags and a slip with our dates written on it so rangers can see it when they drive by. Around 1200 someone came by while we were sitting outside and asked if we were all good, and I had my reservation printed out and that was it!EMPLOYEES: I believe the campground is managed by volunteers, and during the week they were scarce. We typically like to ask local campers for recommendations of things to see/do/eat in the area but didn't find anyone working here during the week days to ask. That being said, periodically the local sheriff drove through; stopped and chatted, did the loop and checked up on folks which I thought was really a great, passive way to check in on things. The park rangers also took turns driving slowly through daily, and as infrequently as we were at our site we saw them at least twice daily. They always smiled and waved, very friendly group! This loop is super close to the water, but once we were in our camper we didn't hear the motor boats at night, so I highly recommend this for folks that want peace and quiet at night.CONS: During our stay we had zero issues. Neighbors all adhered to quiet hours, everyone is friendly, there were no loud dogs into the night or unruly folks making a scene. A very nice campground overall, the only con would be the price of wood ($6 for 4 pieces at the time of our stay) and there is no camp store within walking distance (gas station about 1 mile down the road, but it's a major roadway) This campground is 45 minutes from Mammoth Cave Visitors Building (where the cave tours start) I think technically it's 20 minutes from the border of the National park. It's 30 minutes from Cave City, 20 from Blue Holler Off Road Park, 10-20 minutes from loads of hiking and public swimming, and 20 minutes from Leitchfield.

If you are looking for a serene, clean campground this is it. We stayed here for three nights with a planned trip to Mammoth Cave. Our site was beautiful. Quiet with lots of trees and a lake within walking distance. The only slight complaint was that it is out a ways from the caves. 40 minutes. If you are a hiker, this is also not your campground. We truly enjoyed our stay.
