What a neat museum! I'm not exactly the target audience for this place, but I ended up enjoying myself. There is just so much vintage fire memorabilia to look at! And my children, like most children, like firefighters and fire trucks, so they had a good time, too.One of the neat things about the Vintage Fire Museum is that there's a little corner dedicated to fire safety education for kids. There's a mock room setup, with a window to climb out of to practice fire drills. What will you do if there's a fire in your house? Climb out the window, of course, is one of the options the Vintage Fire Museum is suggesting. My youngest liked climbing out of the window and onto the "roof." Hopefully, we never have to test his house-fire escape skills in real life -- knock on wood. The rest of the museum is dedicated to showcasing fire fighter history. You'll see restored fire trucks (you can sit in some of them!), photos, old uniforms and hats, equipment, a crazy collection of fire alarms, and lots more. The museum is staffed by old timers who are ready and willing to talk your ear off about fire fighting history. They can give you a tour of the museum, if you want, but we opted to just explore by ourselves. The museum isn't very big, but it's definitely worth the cost of admission, and I'm glad we visited.

Pretty simple and small museum filled with historical fire department items. Which is awesome, small enough that the kids don't get too bored and parents aren't overwhelmed.$22 bucks for 2 adults, and 2 kids. Pretty good price and the money goes to help the museum. They offer a tour, which is free, and they tell you all about what the things in the museum are and what they actually do. They also do a quick interactive fire safety course, which the kids loved. Wife did too as she got to fight a "fire".Neat little place, worth crossing the bridge for.

The Nugget spotted this place from the road and insisted that we stop. The small unassuming building houses far more memorabilia than one might expect. There are trucks from every era and a gaggle of elderly men who know everything about them. There's a restoration area in the back and a couple of attractions that allow hands on exploration. You can peruse old school alarm systems and various gadgetry. The admission fee is more than reasonable at five-ish dollars and the tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. It's a great way to pass an hour with a kid who loves fire trucks.

My son and I were walking around the area while my car was getting some service and we saw the museum and decided to kill some time by walking in and checking it out. They asked if we wanted a tour so we said sure. It was only $6 per adult. The information they told us during that tour was incredible. So many fun facts and the workers are all volunteers so they are genuinely happy to be there. The museum currently is in the process of moving to the building across the street so after we were shown everything in the old building we got to walk across and hear about the remaining trucks. Very fine place and very fine people. Whether you're old or young it's a great place to visit.

The Vintage Fire Museum on Spring Street in downtown Jeffersonville is a lot of fun for toddlers. There are horse-drawn pumpers and old hoses and buckets that the museum guides let kids touch and interact with. And they let kids sit up in one of the old Ford fire engines and crank the siren and ring the bell. If you've got a little one that loves firetrucks, this would be a good indoor activity for a cold winter day. Kids under 3 are free. Adult admission is $5. It only takes about an hour to tour the collections, but there's a safety video for kids that you can watch if you want that is about 15 minutes long. And there's a little shop that has some fun stuff for kids.
