My husband and I planned our wedding from out-of-state. If that wasn't enough, we did a Ragnar Relay (200 mile race with a team of 12) for the two days before the wedding. We had a LOT of planning and coordination to do with organizing 12 people all coming from out of state followed by a wedding full of out-of-staters that wasn't close to a home base for my husband or myself. Diane helped us through so much of it. Type A is a preferred vendor for our venue at Buffalo Trace and after contacting Diane, we could see why. She walked us through details that we hadn't considered and got enough information to run with our vision and fill in the gaps as they arose. She gave us feedback where we needed it and double checked on other vendors. She builds up a trust relationship and you can rely on her to make sure your catering needs and day-of coordination is on point. Also, Type A's food is fantastic! Diane worked with us to design a buffet meal (salmon, chicken, autumn vegetables, asparagus, and a gluten-free+vegetarian plate for one friend) exactly inline with what we wanted and numerous guests told us that it wasn't just wedding-food good, but it was good restaurant good. My husband and I agree with our guests and wish we could have more of Type A's catering! Basically, go with Type A if you have the option to do so.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND type A Catering. Being a COVID-19 couple, we were unable to have our planned wedding of 150 people on our original wedding date, due to government guidelines. Although we did consider rescheduling, we decided to not put our loved ones at risk during uncertain times. Diane considered this a cancellation on our part. We were prepared to lose our non-refundable deposit of $500 to hold the date but were shocked/disappointed when we were informed that our first payment installment (deposit with contract) of $3,977.05 wouldn't be refunded either. The decision to not reschedule wasn't a decision we took lightly, with our vendors in mind. Diane gave us a food/beverage credit (for a year). Although in my opinion, during a pandemic I feel her decision was indecent to keep our deposits and not offer a refund at a later date, but only a credit. A pandemic is unprecedented times and it was unfair/unkind to handle business in this manner when I was fearful to reschedule our wedding during uncertainty.

I can't begin to say enough wonderful things about Type A Catering. I planned my wedding from South Carolina, and took a leap of faith and hired Diane before I even did a tasting. Her calm nature, attention to detail, helpful suggestions and organization sold me on Type A from the beginning. She was even able to recommend our DJ to us (who was another fabulous choice!)On our wedding day, Diane and her team were really amazing. We had a cupcake debacle with another vendor and they stepped in and immediately fixed the situation (and the smushed cutting cake) I received so many compliments from guests on how much they loved the food. Diane was there all night at the reception to make sure everything went smoothly. All of the staff members I met that night we friendly and I heard the same from my parents. Diane and Type A made things run so smoothly and I am so glad I chose them! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a top-notch wedding caterer!

I went to an event catered by Type A. The caliber of the food was possibly the worse I've experienced in Lexington. Think Wild Thyme, Seasons, Aviary at the top of the catering ladder, then slide down to the bottom rung and you have Type A. There was not a single redeeming factor in the food -- taste, creativity, presentation. Type A deserves an "F".

I have worked with Diane on three events, one very elaborate 50th birthday party and two smaller corporate events. She is excellent on timely communication, her quotes are very detailed as far as menu items and pricing so there are no surprises. She and her staff are always on time, the presentation of the food is perfect and they are very accommodating during the events. I've recommended her to several people who have also been very pleased with her services and of course I will continue to work with her on future events!

When I first met Diane, she was super responsive, full of ideas, and detail oriented. When my fiance and I met up with her again for the tasting a few months later, the food was exceptionally delicious & she remained detail oriented. Unfortunately, these attributes waned and did not carry over through the day of the wedding. She spent the majority of the wedding afternoon and night on her cell phone, not managing her staff. The food was not to the same caliber as what we received during the tasting. Her staff was rude. Additionally, at the end of the night, we never received all the remaining bar accessories, the leftover wedding cake was claimed by the staff despite my mother's questioning the staff, the staff laid claim to all the table flowers before guests had the opportunity to bring home a memento of the evening, and family reported the staff was drinking our alcohol throughout the evening. The ultimate let down was when we discovered $500+ in wedding gifts disappeared during the ceremony. The catering staff were the only people in the reception area during the ceremony. Diane adamantly denied her staff's involvement in any of the above despite her lack of supervision. Overall, a truly disappointing finish to a truly impressive introduction.
