They really made this look like a little cottage and pub in Ireland.

Wonderful dinner with friends on our weekend getaway in Louisville. So happy we took the suggestion of a local boutique owner to try the Irish Rover. Food was amazing; beef stew and fish and chips were delicious. The drinks were great too; good service as well.

Food: the beef stew and cottage pie were not good. It was like eating the generic form of Dinty Moore beef stew with too much flour in the sauce. I couldn't eat it. The cottage pie is the same thing but with the stew in a bread bowl instead and cheese on top. The bread and cheese did not help the stew. Service: mediocre. Ambiance: just an old building

Dinner with friends on a Friday night at 5 PM, so parking lot was still an option for easy access and was packed by the time we departed a couple of hours later. We were seated at the large round table in the front room and this was my first time visiting, so my head was on a swivel checking out the very interesting decor. I felt like I was in the equivalent of a comfortable pair of shoes. The place is worn, but obviously well-loved as exemplified by The Regulars. This cannot be faked. Service is terrific. We were well-tended throughout our visit. The manager (owner?) even visited the table to check on us. I had a beer and fish and chips. I liked all of it except the potatoes which were limp, light, and underdone, whereas I prefer a darker shade and some crisp. The fish was advertised as "market price", so several of us commented that it's fortuitous that we like to gamble. The outcome was an $18 piece of fish, which I'd likely not repeat based on personal preference. Would like to return to try a few more menu items and enjoy the neighborhood experience by visiting the bar seating and maybe learn a thing or two.

4th star for the owners, staff and management of the Irish Rover for operating a fun establishment.Full disclosure! The Irish Rover is one of approximately 8 establishments in Kentucky who wear the DDD crown. Good bad or indifferent, I was somewhat surprised by the lack of DDD enthusiasm from the staff and management at the Irish Rover I nibbled on some smoked salmon as I have eaten my way through my journey in Kentucky. That said, I can't make a clear contribution on the food. Second, I asked about the visit Guy Fieri paid to the Irish Rover and to my surprise, they had little to say...only that he tried this and that... nothing to write home about And unlike other establishments there were no pictures or momento to Guy's visit... So there....I enjoyed my Irish coffee and the salmon and the overall ambiance....Would I go back? Yup if I'm I their neck of the woods only next time, I won't worry about the DDD episode back in 2019 rather, I'll concentrate on their menu and extensive list of Irish whiskeys.

Pretty underwhelmed by the food and service here. Our server was pretty spotty with attending our table. They had just opened and were not crowded but after initially taking drink orders, was gone for really long stretches. The food itself was tired. The Guinness Beef Stew was hearty, but pretty uninspiring in terms of portion and taste. Reminded me of Dinty Moore. The Chicken Club was basic and the chicken itself pretty bland. It's a very traditional feeling spot with lots of decor that feels authentically pubby, but that doesn't make up for an otherwise average experience.

Traditional dishes and cold beer, what's not to love. The restaurant has loads of character and you feel like family as soon as you walk in. It's cozy and comfortable and service is friendly.

Love this Louisville landmark. Just a beautiful, quaint Irish pub. Everyone is friendly and welcoming (even when service can be slow on occasion...it gets crowded), and the owner makes a point of stopping by every table to check in and see how you're doing, which I appreciate. While there is a decent amount of overall space, it is cozy...tables are small and are fairly close together, but that's really part of the atmosphere.Good mix of Irish classics (best fish and chips in town, hearty Guinness beef stew and cottage pie), more American style fare (the burger is surprisingly tasty...go with cheese and Irish bacon on it), and some tasty unexpected options (may I suggest vegan vindaloo?). If you don't get a scotch egg, you're just missing out (hard boiled egg, wrapped in sausage, battered and deep fried, with a delightfully spicy mustard to splash on there). Solid beer selection and an excellent collection of Irish whiskies, which aren't always easy to find in town.Great place for someone looking for a pint at the bar on the way home or a place to take the family for dinner.

Yesterday my husband and I had dinner at The Irish Rover. This has been a Crescent Hill/Clifton staple for many years. The service was fantastic. Our server Jacob was very attentive and very friendly. My only disappointment was the charge for bread, while has been something that accompanied your meal at no cost before. It's a little disheartening that they would now require a charge for something which should be free. We ordered the Cordon Bleu Fritters which are unique and delicious. I'd describe them as hushpuppies with ham and cheese. For our main entree, I ordered the Fish & Chips and my husband ordered the Pub Burger and Irish chips (steak fries). Our dinner was quite delicious and the atmosphere was cozy and charming as usual.

I truly want to love this restaurant so much, but other than the ambience, there's not much to recommend it unless you're interested in super-traditional Irish fare (sans some staples like corned beef). The food is simple, fresh, and expectedly bland. If you like salmon, you're in luck - there are a lot of salmon options. The service is friendly but not super accommodating. I ordered chocolate cake (expecting traditional carb-y cake w/ icing - Y'know, cake!) and was served a flourless chocolate torte instead (super rich, super dense with no icing anywhere). When I said something about it, I was basically gaslit as owner shut me down, telling me "no, it's cake, eat it anyway" and was charged $9 for the privilege. The wedge of fudge is still sitting in my fridge. So, great place for a Guinness and their corned beef fritters are solid. But beyond that, unless you like a lot of salmon, take your chances.

Kaitlyn was our server and she was fantastic! Super attentive and friendly. We ordered a Scotch egg for an appetizer. It was delicious and beer battered. For our meal we had cottage pie and a BBLT (Benedictine Bacon Lettuce and Tomato sandwich) both were delicious and sizable portions. The ambiance was perfect shabby Irish pub vibe. Definitely going back and bringing our friends.
