The GRÜV Sports Bar & Lounge

A Yelp search led me to this place, which I originally planned to check out one evening... but it was waaaaaaay too crowded as I walked close to it, and I wasn't in the mood. I ended up going to watch part of the Giants game... took a while to get the channels right, but once it was on it was great. A DJ was on the second floor spinning some fantastic tunes. It also happened to be brunch time, so on my side was the bar and some stools and tables, and the other side had a lot more tables and a brunch buffet going on. The staff at the bar informed me that they only had wings and fries due to brunch -- I appreciated the heads up. Wings were perfect for the game. I asked what flavors they had, and Caribbean jerk was one of them, so that's exactly what I got. They took... a while. Quite a while. But it's okay because they were TOTALLY worth the wait! At almost $2/wing, I was pleasantly surprised by the burst of flavor and heat, and the wings themselves were done well!Overall I loved the vibe of the place and it was cool to support a Black-owned bar near my hotel. I'd return if I go back.

I went here with a couple of friends on a Saturday afternoon. This is a black owned sports bar in downtown Louisville. There were a few people watching the game. At night they have a DJ. I ordered a bourbon lemon drop and it was really good. I had the sliders and fries with the Gruv seasoning. The Gruv seasoning was sweet and smokey. Kind of like a BBQ seasoning. They are known for their wings. I don't eat wings but I took some home to my husband and he said they were delicious.

Really good wings. The staff were very hospitable and made the dining experience first class. Great music and vibes.

This place has so much potential but fails to deliver.I've probably frequented this establishment three times. Tonight, we opted to swing by post an event because the music at a minimum is usually pretty good. When we stepped through the doors, to say it was blazing hot would be an understatement. The temperature in the building had to be just shy of the Sahara Desert and Death Valley. 100% unacceptable. Secondary to that, it took a while to find a waitress.This is not a knock on the waitresses. They were working hard, but needed addition support. I look forward to this placing improving and calling their HVAC provider expeditiously.

It's my first visit to The Gruv (Groove) since it was Dish on Market. The inside is mostly the same, but they have fun lights and play 90's R&B . We arrived after 12:30 PM during the work week. The restaurant was mostly empty, but we decided to sit at the bar. There were a few menus on the bar but they had QR codes on the table. The most up to date menu is available online here: https://thegruvlou.com/. I heard great things about their wings but decided to try to Ali Club sandwich with Grippo seasoned fries. My sandwich was $8 and included fries. The food came out relatively quickly and looked delicious. The club sandwich was a nice portion and the fries were sooo good with the seasoning. Nice and crispy!The employees were nice and attentive, and refilled drinks without prompting. I will be back to try the wings sometime.

It was a mixed bag. If you aren't really hungry or in any kind of hurry, it's fine. Standard sports bar. Staff very friendly if a bit distracted. Ordered the wings and the nachos with grilled chicken. The wings were great. The nachos...not so much. The cheese was the canned nacho cheese you get at a snack bar, no shade, I love that stuff. But it wasn't warm at all. Congealed bright orange goo. Made for a big of an unpleasant experience. My main complaint was the amount of time it took to receive the food. It was 50 minutes from the time we ordered until the food arrived. And our server only checked in with us once. Maybe they were busy, but it didn't have that feel. When we walked in there were lots of open seats and tables, so I didn't expect that kind of prolonged wait. Bar food is usually quick bites, but this visit was anything but.

Overall a good but not great experience. Its definitely a party atmosphere in there which I like. Music up high with games on the back ground.Service was nice and checked in on us regularly.I ordered the chicken sandwich and a beer. The chicken sandwich was cooked well but wasn't fried it was grilled which wasn't what I ordered but no big deal. The chicken was a little overcooked and chewy but not too bad. It was well seasoned.The fries were really good they were tossed in brown sugar which added some good seasoning. It also well fried and not soggy.

It's a dive bar with good bar food and a friendly staff. We were staying in Louisville for work and wanted to eat somewhere close to our hotel. It seems like there's a fair number of homeless people and research on crime indicates that there is higher than average crime. Also when you look around, there are a lot of empty buildings, which is probably caused by the pandemic and other factors. It looks like Louisville is still suffering a bit, but hopefully it'll recover. Anyway, back to dinner. We wanted to walk somewhere for dinner and GRÜV was close by. The menu features lots of good sauces, wings, fries, tacos, sliders...bar food. You can add one of their sauces to the meal so I picked the chicken tenders with hot sauce. They were nice big pieces of fried chicken breast with a good coating and the sauce made it like wings but maybe slightly healthier. The fries had a blend of seasoning that reminded me of mesquite barbecue chips with the slightly sweet flavor. Everyone enjoyed the food. Our server was great and it was convenient to our hotel. Good stuff!

If you want wings, THIS IS THE PLACE!We came here for a late night bite after an event (This place very much has a lively night scene so if you are looking for something more chill, go here during the day).I ordered 5 dry rub lemon pepper and 5 garlic parm truffle sauce wings. My husband ordered buffalo bbq sauce wings and we shared an order of fries. The spices in the dry rubs and the flavor combos of the sauces are absolutely DEVINE! The fries are super crip and tossed in a special savory brown sugar seasoning mix (sweet and savory fries will CHANGE YOUR LIFE) . Our waitress was very attentive and took care of us well. However, she asked us to pay immediately after we started eating and wouldn't leave the table until we did . I get it was busy and we were sitting outside and she wanted to make sure we didn't take off, but it came across a bit unprofessional and was incredibly inconvenient as we were covered in wing sauce and she didn't offer an napkins or assistance in making the task less messy. 10/10 would recommend AND would eat here again. Would just suggest eating during a more laid back time of day.

Love the environment. The server was very nice and polite. The food was mediocre. And the service was not good. The overall experience was not good. We had a nice size party. I think one of the guests had communicated with someone at the spot we were expecting about 20 people. I was informed that they could accommodate that many. However, we had only one server. You can imagine how that went. Again the server was very nice and friendly and accommodating but it was more than handle efficiently. Not writing this place off, will visit again.
