I had the privilege of dining here twice in a month. The first time, I had no idea that the restaurant had been featured on the show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives". I found it to be quaint with great upscale food. Love the cozy atmosphere. The dining area is small, with tables close together, but you can grab one of the few booths for a bit more room and chat privacy. There are large windows near the front door that give a glimpse of passersby shopping along Main Street. The staff is very friendly. I had the seasonal lobster grilled cheese on my first visit, and it was phenomenal. This was a work lunch, so I stuck to my entree and an Iced Tea. The second visit was a pleasure lunch and I shared the Crab Rangoon Dip with large pieces of toasted buttered bread- very delicious (despite not having real crab) with my lunch companion. I went with another grilled cheese-themed sandwich, this time short rib, which was delicious. Both times, my sandwich was accompanied by a unique tomato soup with kimchee. It packed a nice flavor punch and was great to eat via spoon, but also as a dip for the thick cheesy bread. Next time I plan to try the deviled potato skins as they look fantatic!

Fast to be seated and fast to be served. The waiter was incredibly attentive to our table. The food is excellent. This is not "basic" diner fare. This is elevated flavor combinations that are one of the reasons this place excels at what they do. I heard, after arriving, that Guy Fieri stopped by. He has good tastes. This place is awesome. Comfortable ambiance with next-level food. Good food does not have to be expensive, just well prepared. And The Governor does just that.

The food here is phenomenal - it is one of my partner's favorites in the city. It was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives! Whether you get breakfast or lunch, you won't go wrong. I loved my breakfast sandwich. We kept looking at the other food being brought to other people's tables and saying "oh that looks good too!" The flavors are so unique so you're really getting that elevated taste experience. The vibe is very casual (it's still a diner) but the attention from the wait staff you receive is way more personal. We loved it and will be back.

We went on a Thursday evening at 5:15 and were sat right away. Nice eatery with some hits and misses. Overall the food was really good for a diner. I'll start with what was a hit: deviled potato skins were so tasty and a perfect amount of toppings, potatoes could've had some seasoning to them though. Short Rib Grilled Cheese was phenomenal, the bread and the pairing of the tomato soup elevated it to another level. Crinkle fries were perfect! Misses: Burger was a bit disappointing, could've had more flavor and I was not a fan of the bun. The peanut butter porter was also a disappointment because I thought it would've been draft but it was in a can. The Red Velvet Cupcake I do not recommend.. was not good at all. Overall we had a great experience. The staff was pleasant and it definitely has a modern hipster vibe. Lot of locals and meet ups here. Great place to catch up with friends!

We arrived around 6PM on a Monday and it wasn't busy at all. The inside was a little smaller than expected but it fit our group just fine. Our waiter came over shortly after and was always around when we needed him for something. The interior was super cute and I loved the wall of liquor bottles. There was even a small opening for us to see back into the kitchen. Our food came out quick and it was incredible. I only had the short rib grilled cheese but wow! I highly recommend that or the Governor sandwich if you go sometime soon. There's free parking out front or a short walk down the street. Happy eating!

Took a road trip to try the DDD featured The Governor. Started the meal with the deviled potato skins and a Bloody Mary. The restaurant is small but we got lucky and grabbed a seat at the bar. The potato skins were perfect and the Bloody Mary had a nice zesty flavor with grippos seasoning on top. Yum. We shared the cheeseburger and general Tso's chicken sandwich. Bring your appetite because the portions are huge. All was delicious and I will have to come back and try breakfast next time at this foodie perfect diner!

After taking a walk through Historic downtown Milford, the family was hungry, so we stopped at the Governor Modern Diner. The food was excellent. I had the best Reuben in a long time. My wife and daughter enjoyed the Fried Fish Sando. My grandson thought the Governer's Burger was top choice. My son-in-law enjoyed the Short Rib Grilled Cheese. Everyone who ordered fries enjoyed them. I had enough with the Reuben. The service was good. Our server was pleasant and knew the menu. Everyone would come back again.

We have made the Governor a staple for our weekend brunches because of the amazing food. It is definitely not your ma-and-pa greasy spoon, but rather a place that serves refined dishes with a cozier atmosphere. The modernized takes on classic dishes offer some intriguing new flavors packaged in a familiar appearance to all...especially the "fromlettes" (frittata / omelette hybrid). The service is consistently great for a diner and willing to run the menu with you. Always follow their advice and you're in for a treat. P.s. don't miss out on the lobster roll, when available. Higher price tag, but absurd amounts of lobster and delicious.

I'd almost forgotten about this spot until my boss mentioned it one day after a meeting nearby. Last time I was regularly in the area, it was still being finished, and I'd heard good things about the place since then. So we decided to check it out for lunch and it turned out to be really good. When we went, it wasn't too busy. There were people sitting both inside and outside since it was a nice day. The place isn't huge but does have good seating in both spots. The inside looks like an upscale version of a classic diner. No wonder Guy Fieri came here once for one of his shows. Their menu was loaded with lots of options and so was their drink menu (especially with specialty cocktails). We started out with two interesting appetizers, the baked crab rangoon dip and deviled potato skins. They came out pretty quickly and both were good, though I think the potato skins were the winner between the two. Then we ordered our mains. I went with a Reuben and my boss got the short rib grilled cheese. Again, we didn't wait long at all before everything was ready. My Reuben was one if the better ones I've had in a while for sure. My boss enjoyed his grilled cheese and found the short rib to be very flavorful. The service was also excellent and our server was super friendly.I really like this spot. Of course, I think I may return with my lady someday, for dinner and libations. I'm curious about some of their specialty cocktails, particularly the Sage Advise.
