This was my first time eating lunch here. I'm normally here for breakfast on Sunday mornings. I got the catfish, wasn't a big fan of the cornmill batter but the fish was still delicious. I think next time I'll get the haddock as it is battered differently. I would definitely recommend fish house for a great lunch or dinner spot.

Had a craving for fish and have passed the Fish House on to many occasions to count without ever stopping in for a meal, so tonight was the night. We lucked out....The Fish House hosts an irish music band the third Thursday of each month so dinner came with lovely Celtic tunes for added enjoyment. The restaurant is truly down home and the fish is cooked "green river style". Not sure what that means but I can tell you that the fried fish is breaded in cornmeal. We each started out meal with a cup of seafood chowder. Lots of fish, a nice milky broth..not to thick. A definite win.We both choose platters. I opted for the scrod platter which came with 3 decent sized pieces of scrod, French fries and coleslaw for $11.95. Husband ordered the seafood platter which came with scrod, clams, shrimp and oysters along with fries and cold slaw. You order at the register and they bring your meal to you. Be sure to stop back at the order counter on your way out to pay for your meal. The Fish House is popular, the fried fish isn't greasy, the atmosphere is as down home as one can get.Give it a try...you 'll enjoy!

Having been vegetarian for a couple decades, I had never given this place a try. But when I discovered that BJ's no longer serves baked beignets, I went on a mission to find a place that does. Fish House/Café Beignet has my beloved beignets! I'd love to have strawberry toppings added but the plain ones served here are high quality and delicious. I also tried a few sides, which were exceptionally tasty: potato cakes, bean soup, macaroni and cheese. The service is quick and friendly, and the place has a nice atmosphere and ample dining space. I will return here for the beignets and side dishes.

I came here with relatives and am so glad we had a late lunch here. I had the catfish with fries and some macaroni and cheese. The filet was cooked perfectly along with great flavoring, I didn't need any type of sauce. The fries were perfection! The food is cooked fresh so please allow time if you walk in, it's worth it. This is a family owned business and the owner was so welcoming along with the server.

Fish house is one of the best brunch breakfast places in town- the omelette with homegrown tomatoes was with peaches and cream beignets

It seems like an older restaurant as far as the building is concerned but was clean enough on the inside. A very friendly and knowledgeable staff on the inside and if you are gluten free they have separate fryers and everything you could want as far as that is concerned. My wife (gluten free) had the shrimp dinner and hush puppies, she said that she enjoyed it. I had the catfish dinner, it was seasoned well and fresh off the fryer. We both enjoyed it and will be back again

Amazing. Great service, I came in a few minutes after opening and the gentleman at the counter was super nice and answered all of my questions about their gluten free options which were many! Fried fish, fries, onion rings, and hush puppies! I got the catfish and the hush puppies and used their jalapeño tarter sauce. As more people came in it was clear there were a lot of regulars and for good reason, it was fresh and crispy and hot and super reasonably priced. I will absolutely be back next time I'm in town.

Basic food with very personable staff. Think mom and pop with good fried fish. Fried shrimp were also good and the seafood chowder was very tasty. Nice laid back atmosphere. I'll eat here again.

Amazing! A true neighborhood gem of Louisville! The folks are wonderfully helpful and patient as we studied the menu. Ordered the fried catfish, a breakfast sandwich and the apple beignets. I know catfish is a bit of a specialized taste and not to everyone's taste. BUT this cornmeal breaded fried catfish was without question THE BEST in the midwest. I cannot remember better. The onion rings were hand breaded in the same cornmeal and were good, interesting. The hush puppies were extraordinarily wonderful and perfectly cooked. The homemade cole slaw was a perfect compliment. The absolute star was the apple beignets. Total gastronomic perfection! Our family consensus was that we don't come here nearly often enough.
