The Chicken Inn is a wonderful little family owned diner that has been serving fried chicken and other comfort foods for several generations. The Inn has moved at least three times over the years. The current location is not fancy, but homey and casual. I had a late lunch with several friends yesterday. Our server was amazing and gracious with one of my elderly friends (and the rest of us as well). Beverages came out quickly and food took about 20 minutes. Loved my unsweetened tea and water was kept fulThe menu and specials are pretty simple. You select an entree or sandwich and one or two sides. Sides consisted of mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, onion rings, fries, etc. - pure comfort food. I had the dark meat Fried Chicken with Slaw and Homer's Onion Rings. The fried chicken is hot with a light breading that comes out super crispy. The meat is tender and moist. The onion rings were hand battered and crispy. The slaw is juicy and sweet. My husband had the Fried Walleye which was fabulous. There are limited vegetarian option. My vegetarian friend had a grill cheese sandwich and slaw. Unfortunately, we did not save room for the tempting homemade pies and cobbler. Restroom clean with chicken decor. Expect a wait if you come during peak times. They have a following. They cater!

It's worth the trip from Franklin (25 minutes). Obviously known for their fried chicken, which is awesome. Sides are good too, and served family style. Fried biscuits are also on the menu and we usually get these when we go. Can't recommend this place enough if you like old school fried chicken like grandma used to make. Oh yeah, can't forget the pie. We're usually stuffed after the meal and get a slice or two to-go.

The Chicken Inn never disappoints! This evening, I had a 3 piece white, baked potato, and side salad. The chicken was prepared fresh and was simply delicious. Paired with a potato and side salad - there was plenty to take back home.My waitress, Erika, is the best in the business. This place is home style cooking to perfection. If you're around the Shelbyville area, this is a must stop.

So before Fox 59 featured this restaurant on Where Is Sherman, we wanted to try this pace and had already been suggested.My friend from Cincinnati joined me on Saturday. Excellent greeting from q delightful man! Welcomed us and suggested we sit at a clean table. We were quickly greeted from a young lady who took out drink order. We were then approached by our server who asked to take our order. While we weren't ready he cheerfully suggested he come back.We both ordered the side salad as one of our sides. The only Make the blue cheese in house and it was delicious!!I ordered the 3 piece all b white dinner for $15. My friend ordered the chicken tender dinner. My chicken was very tasty... more like broasted, but very delicious. Most on the inside...my friends fingers were average.Here is where the 3 atar comes in. Mashed potatoes were instant. Not a fan and totally tasted instant. Checken was a B... sides were a D... C at best.. Wish this would have been our new go to fried chicken dinner... not bad, but not making an hour drive.

My husband and I made a day trip over to Shelbyville, TN and while there, we stopped in to have a bite to eat. What a cute place this is! The food was delicious, large portions, great prices and the service was great too! Give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

Just like Grandma's. The fried apple biscuits are worth the stop if you are anywhere in the area. Great menu options for Fried chicken from 2-22 pieces. The seasonal cukes and onions took me back to the farm on a warm summer day. Staff was super. Meal came out hot and fast for made to order chicken. Clean and a nice private bathroom if you have little kids with you.

Been stopping here for years on our pass thru of Shelbyville. It was good as always, but this time it seemed a little off. Can't really pinpoint why but the chicken was just not 5 stars this time. Either way, this love this place and will be back.
