3.5 stars rounding up to 4. I was in town for an event and I as recommended this hotel for its charm and location. When it came time for check in, I got a text with a check in code for the door and room code. I wanted to know if I could check in an hour early, and called the hotel only to find out that it is a staff less hotel. You will need to text in for whatever you need. I texted for early check in and heard back after a few hours and they were able to get me in early. The check in process was super smooth, and I was able to go straight to my room. The room was spacious and bright. My only grief was the bed. It felt slanted and everything I put on the bed kept rolling off, the bed was also super hard but the pillows were comfortable so I had a hard time sleeping. The walls are a bit thin and I could hear folks talk but it stopped around 10pm. They also start landscaping super early in the morning as well. Overall I had a descent stay, and would recommend it to others.(Also if anyone could please tell me what this hole in the shower glass is, I'd be so grateful because I couldn't figure it out for the life of me! Haha)

This started out as a 4.5 star but taking it down to a 2 for lack of response. I left a pair of jeans & a belt behind. I noticed this the next day when I was unpacking from our trip. I immediately tried reaching out. I left a voicemail sent a text & sent email. 24 hours later i've only received a half response via text that they will check with cleaning crew. Another 24 hours later, still no other response. This is bad business & turns me off to ever visit again. It's a shame because we enjoyed our stay & hotel is in a great location for walking to shops & restaurants.

A hotel that's completely automated with no humans, yet you have to call and talk to a human at every step in the process because it's not automated well at all. Rooms look nice but are actually super cheap as the bed frame broke just from me sitting on it. Also I was in the middle of leaving at my checkout time and they locked and changed all the passcodes while I was outside, locking half my stuff inside. When I called 20+ times on a Friday at 1130am no one answered the phone or got back to me. Someone else at the hotel had to let me back in to get my things. Overall a terrible hotel, overpriced for the fact that they try and make it seem fancy so they can cut as many corners as possible. Do not stay here if you want a simple experience or an actually nice room.

This was nothing less than a five star experience for us. It's pretty much a seamless check-in /checkout process as long as you follow their simple instructions. We never really encountered people unless it was someone relaxing in the Lounge. We went here for a spontaneous date night & I don't regret booking one bit. A stones throw away from Heine brothers coffee, a liquor store & A variety of great breakfast, lunch & dinner locations. I truly can't recommend this unique hotel experience enough. If you're interested, don't hesitate! Just book it!

LOVED our stay at The Bellwether. My husband and I stayed in "the Henry room," room 207. The Bellwether is adorably curated and designed. We met two of the owners during our stay - they were great. Our room was exceptionally clean, bed comfortable, and overall aesthetically pleasing. We also LOVED the neighborhood and location. Bardstown Road had a lot of great restaurants and shops. Easy location to get to music festivals and Churchill Downs. Will 100% stay here again on return trips to Louisville.

Continuing with Ian's and my Fancy Dinner Party ladies trend - we decided to ball out for no reason and stay one night at the Bellwether! It was a "touristing in our own neighborhood" sort of deal. One main perk was be able to walk here from our house, lol.First of all, I absolutely love that something beautiful was built in this old warehouse. It's a gem of the neighborhood now and I really, really cannot wait for the corresponding restaurant to open here! The decor of the entire place is tastefully done and I like that they highlight the historic use of the space in large photographs throughout the building. There's some funky art installations that makes taking pictures inside even more fun. Rooms are supplied with interesting books about Louisville - we must've spent an hour scouring a book about Louisville house architecture!I'm taking one star off being it is *pretty pricey*. Even though it's beautiful inside and comes with some amenities, I think it'll be more worth worth it once the restaurant is up-and-running. (I'm assuming they'll offer a discount or a free appetizer or something to those staying at the hotel who visit the restaurant.)

Cutest hotel in the ville!! Perfect for a staycation or coming in from out of town. It's right in the middle of Bardstown Rd. in the Highlands so there's plenty of bars, restaurants, and stores all around within walking distance. They send you a code 24 hours before so you don't have to check in at a desk, just go right in. I believe it used to be a ballet studio & firehouse at one point. It's a gorgeous building & you can feel the history. 5/5 recommend!

Terrible 'business'. Scammed. No one works here and even during the business hours you cannot get ahold of a human. I was locked out my room upon arrival and no staff was available. Check in is at 4PM and staff are supposed to be available until 5PM. They are not. Don't get locked out.

My family had an Easter reunion in Louisville - 24 of us! We stayed at the Bellwether, using Highland Station as our central spot and reserving 10 other rooms in the hotel. We had WONDERFUL experience! The location was perfect - walking distance to great restaurants and the beautiful Cherokee and Tyler parks. We were a short drive to downtown and the riverfront. The rooms were SUPER clean and comfortable. Highland Station was a perfect gathering place. While there isn't parking, we had no problem finding street parking. I do recommend getting in touch with the hotel management via text when you arrive. Given there is no one onsite, we had a couple of hiccups with codes, but they were resolved immediately. We would DEFINITELY stay there again!

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. Most reviews are glowing so perhaps it was the room. We booked the Edgeland Deluxe Suite 210, king bed with a pullout couch. Access code worked but no elevator so we had to lug our suitcases up 2 flights of stairs. The room itself was very cold and dark. I believe it was an old police station so the walls are brick and have an industrial feel, and the window in the bedroom is too high to see out of so it creates a very cell-like feel. (You'll have to be at least 6 ft tall to reach the chain to open the blind.) There are throw rugs that fall short of covering the concrete floors, which were very cold (Easter weekend stay). No rugs at all in the bathroom - and the heater unit in there timed out quickly before making a difference in the room, which featured very high ceilings and an open shower that fails to keep heat in. There are heater units in the bathroom and sitting room for good reason. The bedroom has a comfortable king bed but no room for a normal dresser or closet. There is no closet or dresser in this unit at all besides a small cabinet with a few mini drawers but not enough room for anything substantial. A foot long rod that swings out from the wall is supposed to serve as a "closet" for potentially 4 people as advertised? The heating unit in the bedroom worked but it was so loud it woke us up every time it kicked in. The banging had me wondering, at first if it was construction on the street. The pullout couch in the sitting room took up all the floor space so accessing the bathroom was very difficult, at best. And we had to move the coffee table into the "kitchen" to use the pullout which blocked access to the doorway - has to be a fire hazard. As for the chair, we had to put it outside in the corridor to try and accommodate the pullout couch, another exit concern I'm sure. I didn't appreciate having to rearrange and move furniture out of the unit in order to create a functional space. We ended up renting at another hotel but left my son there to use the reservation. He wore ear buds to bed to drown out the heater and the sitting area could then be used to accommodate his luggage.Nice neighborhood though, and the lounge area decor was very cool. I was so disappointed, was really looking forward to staying there as my brother whom we were visiting lives a only a few blocks away.
