On the corner of Fourth and Main in downtown Louisville is a sculpture of five rings which you can walk through. At first glance it looks like some weird, random public art piece, but when you step back, you realize they are the hoops of a bourbon barrel! Appropriately, it's titled "The Barrel" and it is located in the center of the Bourbon District. A very cool piece of art that's a popular spot for photos.[Yelp collections: Louisville/Indianapolis 2023; Louisville, KY 2023; Public Art]

The barrel is a public art statue in downtown Lousiville that marks the entrance of what locals and the city call the "bourbon district" of the city. The piece cleverly uses bourbon barrels as a tunnel or walking path. The 11 feet Barrel was constructed in the spring of 2018. It will no doubt be a fun photo op for locals and out of Towners on there journey through bourbon country. Overall cool and fun piece. Me being a true Kentuckian who loves his bourbon this piece no doubt is a hit with me. Well done and unique sculpture to commemorate our state and city rich history with bourbon.
